Both turned out to be lesbians interestingly. At the time it seemed like a gossip blind item but it could be true now.
(good movie btw, a little soapy with the music but powerful none the less.)

She thanks McGillis in her Oscar speech but I guess that would be done even if they weren't a couple. The film really was a partnership between the two.

On the Marc Maron podcast Jodie says she was a bit out of her mind on that film. She doesn't say it was hard because of Hinckley like people assumed but just that she was kind of crazy during the making of it. (whatever that means.)

Looks like Hotel New Hampshire was her first theatrical film post-Hinckley. She did some tv movies in between Hotel and Hinckley.

No, I don't. Perhaps a flirtation, but nothing more. The reason I think that is because Kelly, at 5'10", is positively a heifer (even when thin!) compared to Jodie, who's a relative waif at 5'3". I'm just not seeing it.
Although that doesn't stop a lot of other lesbian relationships (looking at you, Ms. Maddow), I just cannot picture this pairing for Ms. Jodie.
