r5 prefer today's pride, where you can still have fun, but won't get fired if your employer sees you on the evening news. Hell, your employer may even take part in the parade. Some of you really want to be victims so bad, but can't accept the times we live in are thankfully less fraught with gay panic.

Yes r9, the entire point of the these 90s/80s/70s/2000s pride parades was to get us to a place where a powerful senator and former presidential candidate happily attends such an event. Same for our current VP who was a fixture at many Prides in CA.

Again, be a victim if you want, but I prefer to cheer the success of our elder gays that made today's world possible. I refuse to look fondly on a time where we had to hide, suffer abuse, or constantly explain what our lifestyle means. I'd rather focus on maintaining our current status, fight today's bullshit, and push for a future when gay history, topics, and experience can't be conflated with a political agenda.

I say all of that knowing that many of you had a blast back then. Some of you are tough as nails because you grew up in that world. It wasn't all doom and bloom, but I'd still take the "boredom" of progress and increased acceptance, over the crap you all faced in the past.
