I knew her in college. She was a theater major at GWU… completely affected and very dramatic - even back then and even for a theater major.

I know a ton of folks that worked with her at a retail store when she was in college and they all absolutely love her. I mean seriously love her. Said she was one of the nicest people they ever worked with or met, was a hard worker and never a slacker, and this was obviously before she was famous, but none of them seem surprised she’s been as successful as she is and they are all very happy for her.

She was interviewed yesterday on Access Hollywood talking about how hard she worked to keep her wedding private, not even telling the designer of the white dress it was for her wedding. I thought it was odd…it’s not like she was marrying Prince William. Did anyone care? She never seemed interesting enough for much beyond the occasional US Weekly story.

I like Kerry Washington as an actress, but, IMO, her book seems completely unessential. She comes across as super uninteresting. Flip side - maybe that's the point - seemingly uninteresting people on the surface might have great autobiographies.

I find it interesting that my black friends know everything about the work of black actresses like Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union, whereas my white friends might know their names, but probably couldn't identify them by just a photo. It might just be that they're B list celebs and that is a crowded list.

Off the top of my head I couldn't name a single film or tv project Washington has ever been in even though I know she has worked quite a bit.

If you saw The LAst King of Scotland, or Ray, she was in both of those. TV she starred in Scandal, a very successful TV series, and she was in Little Fires Everywhere with Reese Witherspoon, and Unprisoned with Delroy Lindo as her ex con father.

I've liked her in films/shows but I agree, she's a bit of a cold customer. She does not have the emotional depth to go where the script wants her to go.

On Scandal, when she wanted to display anger or intensity, she started to develop a weird tic with her lips to show it. She just couldn't show it otherwise.

She certainly plays an in charge type well, and she and Tony Goldwyn had chemistry to burn.

She's often been too thin; even if she is a fairly petite woman naturally.

Agree with R63. She's often very good, but something is missing that keeps her from being a truly great. Scandal seemed to be written to her strengths.

And if you saw little fires everywhere which was kind of good in a soap opera way, she did it a lot in Little Fires. It was a kind of sneering expression.

I did read the book. (Library....I wasn't paying full price, gurl.)

It was actually well written. She didn't say it, but I think parts of her life sort of explain some of the coldness and emotional walls that come up in her work.

She definitely reminds me of Sandra Oh. Although Oh can play vulnerable and sweet a bit better, but they both excel at being in charge bitches.
