An ex owned a flat in a house that seemed well maintained, but the corridors and staircase - which had a carpet always smelled horrible despite looking very clean. It wasn't much but there was always the hint of a sweet smell of death, like a decaying corpse. This (and the idiotic floor plan (two rooms with the kitchen in one of them, no corridor, you have to pass room for the bathroom) would have deterred me. People develop olfactory blind spots but some things, I wouldn't want to get used to. I would have left too OP.

Your home, building, apartment shouldn't smell bad. Tear out whatever you have to to get to the bottom of that stink. I know I, for one, would never tolerate unwanted odor anywhere near me.

I believe this. I live in a luxury apartment building in Boston (1 BR units are priced around $4200), and the other day I went bring my trash to the trash room. One of my neighbors had straight up abandoned their whole kitchen trash can in there, and the reason why they did it was clear: it was overflowing with fucking fruit fly maggots.

I am sorry guys. I am 44. Ever since Sept 11, I have have been thinking about finding this lovely website soon after.. And that Bonnie Mace stuff was reposted (or posted) around that time. I was utterly horrified by it as I was pretty boring then. But like that Shit Brickhouse Troll, I eventually thought it was funny as hell. But that apartment had cherry floors, high ceilings but smelled like hell. I am all about smell, man. And that place turned me OFF.

And I was told once by a former landlord- a great guy too- that He would take a man over a woman any day in terms of a tenant- His reasons were horrifying.

Do they punch holes in the wall in due to an undiagnosed rage disorder, then stuff the holes with used tampons and spackle over them?

He said that women were generally pigs and there were alot of tampon related problems.

And this was a nice man with daughters, ect- He was not even trying to be a jerk.

I asked him if he preferred having female tenants (I expected a YES- ABSOLUTELY)

His answer shocked me.
