President Biden Gives Work Permits to 500k Venezuelan Migrants

[QUOTE]Homeland Security secretary Mayorkas made the decision because conditions in Venezuela “prevent their safe return,” but stressed that immigrants who had entered the country since August would not be protected.

I'd like to know where the genious masters of the universe are to come up with some fucking solutions to this problem.Gates/Bezos/Musky. Democrats are paralyzed and the GOPigs just want to clap their hands and chant "build a wall".

by Anonymousreply 5September 21, 2023 5:08 PM

500,000??? Yikes And that’s just from one country. I feel bad for them but we aren’t a catch all for every stray. We cannot even look after our own people.

by Anonymousreply 6September 21, 2023 5:24 PM

Who can’t we look after, R6?

by Anonymousreply 7September 21, 2023 5:52 PM

This is disgusting

[quote] I feel bad for them but we aren’t a catch all for every stray. We cannot even look after our own people.

Yes, what with the $877 Billion defense budget, there's not a thin dime left for anyone.

The 3.7% unemployment rate (long-term average = 5.71%) means there are lines to get in the bread lines. And no bread!

Americans are in a pitiful position for TV ownerships: only 98% of American households own at least one TV, putting them in 23rd place in the world.

by Anonymousreply 9September 21, 2023 6:21 PM

R9 I agree with you on the military. It shouldn’t even cost a 10th of that amount. We could fund healthcare easily with that money. But what we cannot do is have an open border where people literally just walk in. No country can sustain that.

by Anonymousreply 10September 21, 2023 7:01 PM

The country needs young workers and these people are coming from a relatively developed country.

by Anonymousreply 11September 21, 2023 7:19 PM

And these privileged young Americans don’t even want to work.

by Anonymousreply 12September 21, 2023 7:47 PM

Biden PERSONALLY handed these ILLEGAL migrants passes to rape and pillage in OUR CUNTRY!!!1!!!!

That's what you seem like OP. A bitter, tired, lonely, trailer-park dwelling con job. No, the Proud Boys won't fuck you if you talk enough shit about Biden, so stop trying.

by Anonymousreply 13September 21, 2023 7:53 PM

Good. The more the merrier. Them Venezuelans are movers and some are very good looking. I approve 👍🏽

by Anonymousreply 14September 21, 2023 7:56 PM

As a legal immigrant it kind of annoys me that I had to wait 2 years for my spousal green card and pay $$$ for immigration docs and a lawyer. On the other hand, we desperately need workers to do the jobs Americans refuse to do anymore. I do think that being able to speak basic English should be a requirement to stay here and work. I don’t know what the solution is, it’s a tough decision.

by Anonymousreply 15September 21, 2023 8:25 PM

Democrat here. NO JOKE. I am seriously considering staying home on Election Day 2024. Biden is giving away millions to deadbeat student loan recipients. Letting ANY immigrant in. Defending his con artist son. Food prices are still a joke and Biden doesn't seem to understand that. Candidate Biden PROMISED to increase SS Benefits by 200 dollars a month (never happened). .....And DON'T BOTHER responding to me about TRUMP. My complaints are about Biden (who I voted for).

by Anonymousreply 27September 21, 2023 11:06 PM

Not R25, but for Biden to come to the realization it's time to bow out and take Kamela with him. Get a moderate Dem who can appeal to independents in.

Listen, why CAN'T the DNC come up with a better ticket for 2024? There's no rule requiring the incumbent and his VP to run. If it looks like a possible loss, do something now, for godssake.

Yes, the incumbent ALWAYS runs, and always wins, or at least that’s been true in the past. But desperate times, desperate measures.

by Anonymousreply 46September 22, 2023 3:08 AM

The DNC doesn’t “come up with tickets,” R46, you moron. This isn’t fucking Tammany Hall. If you want another candidate then they need to run, take Joe on and defeat him in the primaries. And no viable candidates want to do that. You know why, R46? Because Joe is a lot stronger than you think and those candidates fear they would LOSE and ruin their political careers.

by Anonymousreply 47September 22, 2023 3:22 AM

[quote]The DNC doesn’t “come up with tickets,” [R46], you moron.

It’s a while yet before it becomes acute enough to notice, but countries will eventually be scrambling to attract immigrants. The retirement systems are simply not sustainable at current birth rates. I’m decades to come the outmigration problem will be finding immigrants.

I can understand resisting immigration in the interest of preserving a cultural identity, as Japan does, but to cloak your opposition to immigration. in economic arguments or arguments about crime is silly.

by Anonymousreply 66September 22, 2023 7:28 PM

The US destabilized Venezuela several years ago to control its oil reserves and then blamed the country's problems on socialism. The American Empire (which DLers never talk about) has invaded and destabilized many countries in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa and created millions of refugees. Those at the top don't care because they are not the ones paying for this, the average citizen is.

by Anonymousreply 67September 22, 2023 7:42 PM

[quote] If you want another candidate then they need to run, take Joe on and defeat him in the primaries. And no viable candidates want to do that. You know why,

RFK knows why.

Last week, Kennedy himself called out the Democratic National Committee for “rigging” the primaries against him to benefit Biden. Said Kennedy, in part: “It’s pretty clear that the DNC does not want a primary … Essentially, they are fixing the process so that it makes it almost impossible to have democracy function. They’re effectively disenfranchising the Democratic voters from having any choice in who becomes president, the Democrat nominee.”

Kennedy next shook the pillars of the Democratic power base by hinting at something that could alter the outcome of the 2024 election. Said RFK Jr., in part: “If the DNC is going to rig it so that it is simply impossible for anybody to challenge President Biden, you know I need to look at other alternatives. Because I can’t go back to the people who support me and to my donors and say you know I’m in this to make a point. I need to show them a road to victory …”

“Other alternatives.” Boom goes the political dynamite.

In the film “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” the corrupt “Taylor Machine” galvanized certain politicians and media outlets to smear and silence Smith before his voice of reason could reach the people.

In today’s world — as RFK Jr. himself has said — media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC refuse to have him on, while allies of President Biden continually assail his character and motivations.

If real candidates ran against Joe, R68, there’s nothing the DNC could do to stop them from seriously challenging him. We’re talking about Governors and Senators, not RFK the clown.
