Reddit has changed from a few years ago. This year it got much worse with the megalomaniac banning crew. It used to be a place where you could discuss things. Now it’s taken over by astroturfing political operatives. The bern sub was found to be run by the alt right. There are multiple subs still showing snuff films. Ukrainian war sub is terrible. Several subs about controversial things are using major ban hammering. It’s fascinating once you realize what the true function of each sub is.

So I go off on there against Rhonda, Dump, and advocate for gay rights but I post in subs and try to tailor my comments (not only just agreeing) it’s pretty good. the way they banned you in those subs sounds like it was politically motivated. the anti cop subs are really good, and yes there are definitely some nice dicks being displayed

I was immediately banned from a pro-cop sub a few years ago but I expected that. It was a joke that LEO subs would ban for anything even vaguely not ball-lickingly pro-cop. So I went there and posted a factual statistic just to see how long it would be before I was banned. It took about 3 minutes.

But that was the only other time I was banned from a sub.

I got a temporary ban on Twitter (pre-Musk) for saying a politician should go jump off a cliff. This was determined to be “encouraging self harm” as if I was that nasty New England girl who texted that suicidal kid to kill himself already.

Those were the only times I’ve been banned before.

I’ve never been banned on Datalounge and only had an authenticated name years ago, R12, when I posted in a Dead and Blatant thread pretending to be insulted.

Reddit is ridiculous. Most subs have like 500 rules you have to follow otherwise your posts will get taken down.

Does anyone know how to unjoin a sub? I can’t find instructions on reddit, which is typical. They can ban you from a sub but you can’t ban the sub’s posts from taking up 90% of your front page

This is how I do it on my laptop. It might be different on other devices.

Go to your Reddit home page. Click on the arrow for the dropdown menu with your subs listed. Click on the one you want to unjoin. You'll see a button that says "joined." Click that to unjoin.

Reddit is an amalgamation of user created subreddits that are self-monitored by volunteer moderators. Sure, there are some general standards and guidelines for Reddit overall, but the decision to ban people is at the subreddit and moderator level.

However, getting banned for certain things from one subreddit will get your auto-banned from several other subs - there's an account flagging system in place.

well imagine if dl was moderated by its strictest and most prolific posters. it would be ruined in a week.
