“A Little More Love” (1978) by Olivia Newton-John

Anyone else love this song? It is such a great one and I remember it was her first single post Grease. It was another HIT for her.

Totes hot. My favorite of hers.

by Anonymousreply 1September 20, 2023 8:11 PM

It was my 1st album! My parents bought it for me while Christmas Shopping in late November 1978. The album had just been released a few days earlier. There was a huge display for the album at the mall record store. I told my dad - I want it! I fell in love with Olivia in Grease a few months earlier. I listened to the vinyl over and over a million times. I was a solid ON-J fan (for life) at 6 yrs old.

Love the intro lyrics…

Night is dragging her feet

I wait alone in the heat

by Anonymousreply 3September 20, 2023 8:19 PM

She was beautiful and talented

by Anonymousreply 4September 20, 2023 8:27 PM

Magic!

by Anonymousreply 5September 20, 2023 8:32 PM

One of her best.

Her voice seems so pure and sincere in this one.

by Anonymousreply 6September 20, 2023 9:28 PM

I knooooow, know that you’ll have your waaay, until you have to go home, no’s a word I can’t say

by Anonymousreply 7September 20, 2023 9:34 PM

It's fantastic. One of my favorites of hers.

by Anonymousreply 8September 20, 2023 11:14 PM

You know how a song can sometimes evoke a specific memory, almost like you're reliving a moment in time? Whenever I hear this song, I'm 13-years old, in my bedroom on a rainy day, this song playing on my little tabletop radio, me lying on my bed reading a magazine.

[quote] Anyone else love this song?

It gets me nowhere to tell you no

by Anonymousreply 10September 20, 2023 11:46 PM

R9 yes. We know. This is mentioned on numerous music threads. Probably by you.

by Anonymousreply 11September 20, 2023 11:46 PM

Miss R9 can mention her memory as often as she likes.

I can't believe it's been a year since she died.

by Anonymousreply 12September 20, 2023 11:53 PM

Loved this song. “Sam” was another great song of hers that is under appreciated.

by Anonymousreply 13September 20, 2023 11:57 PM

I like you, R13. Come around, and talk.....a while

by Anonymousreply 14September 20, 2023 11:59 PM

Who hurt you, R11?

by Anonymousreply 15September 21, 2023 12:37 AM

John Farrar's pop songwriting is often strikingly original. I love the unusual intervals in "A Little More Love."

by Anonymousreply 16September 21, 2023 1:47 AM

Loved that, the entire album, and its front and back covers’ artwork.

by Anonymousreply 17September 21, 2023 2:03 AM

Has DL never been mellow?

by Anonymousreply 18September 21, 2023 2:10 AM

Olivia clearly made boys gay in 1978.

by Anonymousreply 19September 21, 2023 2:15 AM

Good taste, OP.

This is one song of hers that I forget about.

It’s a good one. Underplayed.

by Anonymousreply 20September 21, 2023 3:04 AM

I like it

by Anonymousreply 21September 21, 2023 3:23 AM

It’s hilarious played sped up. Especially the high note.

by Anonymousreply 22September 21, 2023 4:09 AM

This was the in between album that was meant to toughen up her image a bit between her softer earlier albums and "Grease".

by Anonymousreply 25September 21, 2023 4:47 AM

I thought it came out after Grease.

by Anonymousreply 26September 21, 2023 4:49 AM

Her cover of Gimme Some Lovin is incomparable!

by Anonymousreply 27September 21, 2023 4:54 AM

R26 you're right....oopsy. I always thought it was the other way around.

by Anonymousreply 28September 21, 2023 4:55 AM

Jesus christ she was beautiful

by Anonymousreply 29September 21, 2023 6:00 AM

This was a good song with a rock vibe.

by Anonymousreply 30September 21, 2023 6:14 AM

tell me about it....stud

by Anonymousreply 31September 21, 2023 3:43 PM

This came out after Grease r25. This was released after to mature her image a bit, especially after Grease. She always had a very pure and clean image.

by Anonymousreply 32September 21, 2023 3:47 PM

R32 yes, I was wrong, apologies.

by Anonymousreply 33September 21, 2023 4:03 PM

Loved the whole album. It was one of the rare ones, before you could click ahead, that you didn't have to lift the needle to skip a song. You could play it all through. After A Little More Love, my favorites were Talk to Me and Never Enough. I'm surprised they didn't release Talk to Me as a single. I remember reading the reviews It generally got good reviews but most critics singled out Talk to Me as the stand out track. So that's why I'm surprised it wasn't a single.

by Anonymousreply 34September 21, 2023 5:45 PM

Yes, her “Totally Hot” album was great.

by Anonymousreply 35September 21, 2023 5:48 PM

You don't need no psychiatry come on baby you can talk to me, cuddle up on the couch with me, we can talk all night for free........"

by Anonymousreply 36September 21, 2023 5:51 PM

R34 I love “Talk to me” written by Olivia.

by Anonymousreply 37September 21, 2023 9:35 PM

DEEPER than the night!

I always liked this performance of her singing it live. She was having fun and being flirty with the cameras.

Here is "Sam" Live.

I was in bad shape when this song came out; I'd left my lover of a decade, moved across the country, and started out on my own. I missed him deeply and this song allowed me to remember him (and to weep a little). It still connects me to that time.
