There, I said it! I would much rather have a burrito than a taco or two. And I prefer crispy tacos to soft, I know it’s not authentic blah blah blah but the crispy ones are better.

I like crispy tacos too but only with beef. I prefer corn tortillas to flour.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 20, 2023 6:18 PM |
I like fajitas but they’re really just burritos that you have to make yourself, they cost more, and they never come out as nicely wrapped as just ordering a burrito in the first place. Therefore, I feel fajitas are just a scam.

I use greek yogurt in lieu of sour cream and sometimes mayonnaise as a condiment and it's a great substitute. If you dip beef or turkey jerky into plain greek yogurt, it's delicious. Also on top of my eggs, etc.

I’m shocked by these radical Tex-Mex assertions!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 20, 2023 6:26 PM |
R2 now that you mention it, I agree! How dare they with the fajitas!

“Tex-Mex foods are the same six ingredients just folded differently.” — my older brother.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 20, 2023 6:54 PM |
Left to my own, I would rarely venture to Michelin-starred restaurants. I've had some very nice veals in a few, but more often the menu leans heavily to meats, to tartare and sous vide and velvety soft textures, to odd cuts of meat that promise flavor if one overlooks fattiness, to fish poached ever so fleetingly in the spittle of some even more unusual fish, to a short selection of vegetable dishes that are overly complicated by too many ingredients in combination.
It's so often all too rich and complicated and rather old-fashioned, And there's simply too much food. I don't want three different dishes with a significant meat component. I like to pair something rich with something light and clean, to leave thinking of the things I would like to try next time rather than how full I am of rich and rare ingredients in complex sauces.
A simple thing beautifully done appeals much more than a good idea made complicated to make people feel better about parting with their money.

My bf said something similar to R7,I told him well so is white ppl food. Hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, chicken sandwiches, Italian beefs, sandwiches, bread with some protein. That's all it is.

Give me a chimichanga over a burrito any day!

Americans in general consume far too much garbage industrial food. For a very wealthy country, the diet is deplorable. Furthermore, this diet of garbage food is catching on in some other countries.

Reese's are better than the organic version.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 20, 2023 8:51 PM |
The organic version of almost everything tastes worse than the conventional version. Fresh vegetables are the exception, but they usually don't taste better. The only way to get vegetables that taste better is to grow them yourself, or buy local heirloom varieties.
Organic junk food is ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 20, 2023 8:54 PM |
I think fajitas and burritos can both exist. Some people find that sizzle and sear on the fajita meat(s) to be very satisfying/tasty.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 20, 2023 8:54 PM |
[R10] What exactly is a chimichanga?
Yes, I've heard of it, but it differs drastically from a burrito or quesadilla which I like?
Yes, I could Google it, as we can anything, but then why bother interacting on this or any forum?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 20, 2023 8:56 PM |
Burritos are trash. Texans don't really eat them. They are what Northerners think of as Tex Mex.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 20, 2023 8:56 PM |
R2 speaks the truth.
Fajitas make me mad.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 20, 2023 9:00 PM |
A chimichanga is a deep fried burrito. The deep frying makes it better.
Also, who gives a ripe fuck what Texans eat? Texans can eat my burrito farts.

Seems some here claim so far most anything organic tastes inferior, maybe especially chocolate?
Hmmm...Whole Foods Market 365 brand milk chocolate bar for about $2.79 tastes fine to me, certainly not inferior to non-organic milk chocolate.
Or am I missing something?
Would any here not eat organic chocolate bars for fear of any or real perceived or weird taste?

[quote]The organic version of almost everything tastes worse than the conventional version.

I think that organic chocolate tastes better, but the Justin's peanut butter cups aren't as good as the original Reese's. I was surprised!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 20, 2023 10:14 PM |
What a rave review, R21. It tastes fine. 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 20, 2023 10:39 PM |
Organic chocolate is available on the Swiss market but saying it tastes better than quality Swiss supermarket chocolate is a stretch.
In generally mass market American chocolate is revolting. Even Mars candy made in Europe tastes noticeably better than American mars. Snickers for example.
There are just so many GARBAGE ingredients allowed in American food.

I want all the chemicals and gluten I got coming.
Entenmann's Rich Frosted Donuts covered in that fake chocolate frosting? What I'd want if I were marooned on a desert aisle.
2nd choice would be Nabisco Pin Wheel cookies.
Fuck fancy bakery.

Domino's thin crust pizza is actually really good. I haven't had it in years but I remember how much I loved the flaky crust.

+1 with r28.
I tried one for the first time about a month ago. It was really good. Bonus points for being cut in squares.

Taco Bell's quesadilla is superior to a traditional one. That thin, delicate, browned tortilla with that intoxicating creamy jalapeno sauce inside, mmm. The steak is better than the chicken one. The chalupa is pretty good too. A pillowy tortilla with crunchy, refreshing lettuce and sour cream inside. The rest of their food is pretty boring though. And I miss the raspberry tea they used to have.
Oh and Chuck E. Cheese pizza is surprisingly good. Crispy and charred.

This is more of a current radical opinion than a historical one, but I prefer chicken breast to any other cut of chicken. Thighs and wings are the darlings now.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 21, 2023 7:37 AM |
R32 I agree with you. I’ve akwYs preferred chicken breast to dark meat. Thighs are so fatty.

I like to swallow. Is that a radical food choice? My husband thinks it’s my duty. So duty or food?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 21, 2023 2:24 PM |
Chicken breast is definitely better than thighs or wings, etc. Bone, chunks of fat, connective tissue, organ meat, and odd bits don't have much place on my table. It's rather disgusting.
Unlike in the U.S., chicken breast in Europe actually taste like chicken, and higher sanitation standards mean that you don't have to dispose of a section of your kitchen counter and Silkwood Shower the whole space and yourself if you prepare chicken.

R38 a little context... I'm in LA, born and raised and people REVERE street tacos... as if they are the only authentic form of Mexican food.
Contary to popular belief, the burrito IS from Mexico... Northern MX, Juarez... and I'm all for it. It did cross the border around the 1900s and now is a staple of Tex-Mex.
By the way, you don't need to be rude.
