Baghdad / Hillah-Babylon

Hi gang! I’m flying out of JFK on Friday night to Baghdad on Qatar Airways and I’ve never been international before. Any tips for the flight from NY to Baghdad?

After a couple of days, I’m taking a Guffa boat on the Euphrates or a camel train to Hillah to visit Babylon and then back to Baghdad before flying home.

Anybody have good experiences or tips to share for flying to Baghdad, sightseeing in Baghdad, Guffa boats, Iraqi sailors, camel trains, camel herders, Babylon and then back?

Also…I’m flying economy and my river cruise or camel train will be coach also.

Thank you!

Did posting that make you feel better? Because it's hard to see how.

The gates are in Berlin.

In the museum's that's closed for renovations.

Otherwise have fun!

If any of the locals ask you to go up to a rooftop to see the view don't go its a trap

Don't fire up your Grindr while you're there, gurl.

Can I have your stuff?

r2 Thank god I saw that while it was still open, a 14-year long renovation is fucking outrageous.

And yeah, the Ishtar Gate really is spectacular. I'm currently on a history binge of those earliest civilisations and the timescales involved flatten my mind every time. Wish I could go back in time and appreciate that visit at the Pergamonmuseum a bit more.

R1, this poster has a weird obsession with making threads that mock other people's threads.

Don't wear underwear and fart a lot in front of the locals. They like that kind of thing.

R8 It's riffing not mocking. Lighten up, Mary. DL used to have a tradition of fun with Babylonia.

Watch out for any falling walls. Only present hole after being properly introduced to his family

I'm so jealous! I love exotic traveling.

How did you book it?

by Anonymousreply 14September 18, 2023 10:42 PM

The weirdest thing. It was a big discount coupon from the Zoltan Fortune Telling Machine.
