No matter what, the OP must always provide a link. What a fail.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 18, 2023 2:08 AM |
Anderson Cooper is a poor excuse for a "journalist."
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 18, 2023 2:10 AM |
I've decided I liked him better in the closet.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 18, 2023 2:12 AM |
[quote]Somehow I thought he had more dignity than this.
You must be dumb as a box of hair then OP.

Co-parenting but not co-covering.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 18, 2023 2:15 AM |
Trash.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 18, 2023 2:15 AM |
You people just aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate the nuances of a family feature in a major magazine. Get out of your silos.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 18, 2023 2:17 AM |
When he broke up with the French guy he said it was because he wanted kids and frenchy didn't. Now........
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 18, 2023 2:18 AM |
I think he will become a father for a third time
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 18, 2023 2:26 AM |
r9 What is your point?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 18, 2023 2:32 AM |
It’s publicity for his new book on the Astors, out Tuesday.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 18, 2023 2:36 AM |
Is he over the moon about parenting?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 18, 2023 2:40 AM |
Honestly R12 - who is going to buy his book anyway? Nobody.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 18, 2023 2:46 AM |
I really would not want to be raising little kids in my late 50s. But I suppose being a Vanderbilt, he can afford to hire a team of nannies to raise them for him.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 18, 2023 2:56 AM |
He's been a little too wrapped up in the public eye with bestie, HRH Princess Andy Cohen, and that ship looks like it may be sinking. At last.
Time to reverse course, play up the Grief Porn and the Single But Committed Daddy cards. Sure, he's a serious journalist again.
Anderson may have no soul, but he knows how to play the media game.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 18, 2023 3:05 AM |
He bugs the crap out of me. He's such a middle brow gay rich kid.
He has always struck me as kind of dumb.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 18, 2023 3:14 AM |
Fun fact, Anderson is descended from NYC's first prostitute. Whoring is the family business!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 18, 2023 4:02 AM |
r11 Ben said he didn't want kids and now he is raising them with AC
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 18, 2023 4:35 AM |
Is he still not talking to his friend dying of cancer because she posted a stupid pick with a fake head that looked like Trump?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 18, 2023 4:45 AM |
I liked him a lot more before his association with Andy Cohen.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 18, 2023 5:21 AM |
R16 = Kathy
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 18, 2023 5:33 AM |
So what if I am Kathy R22? Still a perfect example of what a shallow friend he was. Does he even have any real friends?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 18, 2023 5:37 AM |
I was just kidding around, R16 (and R23). I know hardly anything personal about Anderson Cooper but your take on him seems very plausible.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 18, 2023 5:42 AM |
I do not even like Kathy anymore, but I will go on record once again saying I HATE FUCKING ANDERSON COOPER, because he dropped Kathy like a hot potato when Trump went after her, despite the fact that his own mother was good friends with Kathy. He's a simpering, moral coward.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 18, 2023 7:00 AM |
He'll be on Stern again this week.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 18, 2023 10:26 AM |
Gloria Vanderbilt and Kathy Griffin were good friends? Didn’t know that. I used to think there was something off about Anderson, since he was the only out gay celebrity at that level without kids.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 18, 2023 11:24 AM |
I like him, but it's a bit creepy to trot out your kids to help you sell books.

I was going to make a bitchy comment about him finally giving the coffin dance a goddamn break. Of course he has to find a way to remind everyone he’s an orphan!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 18, 2023 12:32 PM |
R5 It's so nice that those young children have their Grandfather still alive to create memories.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 18, 2023 1:54 PM |
I'm OK with it. The Republican assault on gay men as groomers and predators make it necessary for us to flood Middle America with positive images of gay men.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 18, 2023 1:56 PM |
He's frivilous.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 18, 2023 2:54 PM |
I like Anderson. It's good to see him out with the kids. Exposure, is exposure.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 18, 2023 2:58 PM |
Why do you like Anderson, R36? I ask because DLers increasingly - maybe it's texting - but they just announce what a position and never explain it, when detail is the basis for conversation.
I dislike him. Here's why. His giggle is offputting as a professional. His performance on New Year's Eve is embarrassing for a serious journalist. His delivery is terrible... I would guess anyone without his PR pedigree couldn't get a job like his if they stumbled and stuttered and misspoke as frequently as A-A-Anderson does. I think using his kids for publicity is distasteful. Anybody who is friends with Andy Cohen suggests somebody whose values are pretty superficial.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 18, 2023 3:03 PM |
[quote]it's a bit creepy to trot out your kids to help you sell books.
Exactly. Also, insisting on a photo that shows off your biceps.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 18, 2023 3:10 PM |
[R37] The thing with Anderson: I like him because he came out and is visible out there. There was a time when he wasn't out. Most of his viewers are just watching him report the news not on New Years Eve and not on things with Andy Cohen, so they miss the giggle. He's very smart, tells it like it is, goes to war zones you and I would never go to and gets to the heart of the story. I happen to like the other side of Anderson when he's on New Years Eve and/or another outlet with Andy Cohen. It shows he's a real person. He's completely harmless and I do like him. Many sides to his personality.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 18, 2023 3:31 PM |
R39, fair enough, well put, and interesting. Thx.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 18, 2023 3:45 PM |
He is a condescending asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 18, 2023 3:52 PM |
I'm oh, dearing my misspelling of frivolous, for the record. I've heard if you confess you get a better sentence.

[quote] [[R37]] The thing with Anderson: I like him because he came out and is visible out there. There was a time when he wasn't out.
He came out very, very late. He was on the cover of "Out" as one of the most conspicuously closeted celebrities who refused to "come out" when that was still a thing. After years of carefully and meticulously hiding his partner and his reality, he comes out in a low-key social media post with a "what's the big deal?" tone. Star Jones made a remark that he should have ignored since he was so cavalier about the whole thing, BUT he and his coke-fiend galpal Andy Cohen went on air -- when Cooper had a daytime talk show -- and said the most queeny, bitchy, nasty things they could say about Star. Not coincidentally, Star Jones has always been SAVAGED by Datalounge so she was easy game for a couple of unskilled queens who don't "read" half as well as the 'median' Datalounger. THAT is Anderson Cooper.
Miss Cooper is a bitch but it is still important for the world to see gay fathers who don't wear ass-less chaps in public.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 18, 2023 6:25 PM |
You know he could pull off a passable Mrs Doubtfire, without needing makeup.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 18, 2023 6:28 PM |
The only thing worse than the trend of aging multi-millionaire gay moguls buying/breeding designer surrogate babies (and often raising them as single "fathers")....
Is the way the mainstream and LGBTQ media have decided that this something admirable, heroic, and praiseworthy.
It's not.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 18, 2023 6:50 PM |
^ that this IS something...
by Anonymous | reply 46 | September 18, 2023 6:51 PM |
I can't stand all these gay celebrities making parenthood of their Frankenchildren normal. It's too heterocentric to me.
One of my favorite things about being gay is not living under the lash of heteronormative suburban lifestyle with kids and all that crap. Gen Z gays ALL are severely longing for marriage and children like every straight woman you went to school with. It's nice I guess if that's your thing, but I sense my younger gay friends despairing without these newly-demanded straight demands. I'm glad I'm older.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 18, 2023 6:51 PM |
Whining about Gen Z when Anderson and co are Gen X....
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 18, 2023 6:54 PM |
Anderson Cooper is 56 years old.
Andy Cohen is 55 years old.
Both will be in their 70s when their children are starting college. Clearly, both men believe they will live forever, like all the other millionaire moguls.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 18, 2023 7:01 PM |
Yes, I made it clear they were aping the somewhat performative lives of these showpiece older gays.
I'm observing, not whining, although I also observe only your opinions will be tolerated.

[quote] multi-millionaire gay moguls buying/breeding designer surrogate babies (and often raising them as single "fathers")
AND movie stars like Angelina Jolie and Madonna buying African and eastern European babies.
I've commented several times both strike me a little too similar to the principles of old time slavery. And as you say the sophisticates call both "admirable, heroic, and praiseworthy".
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 18, 2023 7:17 PM |
Yesterday on "CBS Sunday Morning" he spoke of new book about the Astor family. Mentioned Greenwich Village property holdings and those "further North." Guess Andy doesn't know what when describing physical distance, the correct word is "farther." Easy to remember starts with "far." "Charlie said he could walk no farther and refused to discuss it further."
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 18, 2023 7:27 PM |
It's always struck me gays had the emotional skills to take heteronormative and turn it into something worth doing.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 18, 2023 7:54 PM |
LOL. The arm behind his head is his trademark pose.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | September 18, 2023 7:56 PM |
I like Anderson. I saw an interview, can't remember if it was in print or in person, but he talked about how his brother's suicide threw him into a depression. He didn't care if he lived or died and he wanted to work as a reporter in a war zone because why should people who have something to live for risk their lives when he had nothing to live for and was dispensable.
He also talked once about a grandparent or some relative from his family who was gay and he was angry that they passed the gay gene onto him - that he had spent much of his life feeling like he was defective and worthless.
Recently he was in Ukraine in a bunker or something interviewing mothers, and there were tears into his eyes. After that, to the camera, he talked about mothers being heroes too, protecting their children, sending them to the front and enduring their grief when they died. I was touched. He did a similar thing years ago after Hurricane Katrina - his father was from Mississippi and he talked about feeling at home, amid the devastation on the Gulf Coast.
I really think he's a stand-up guy. He may have flaws but he's not a narcissist or a sociopath like so many celebrity journalists.

by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 19, 2023 12:35 AM |
^^^When he went to Ukraine he had a toddler son AND a newborn. He had no business in Ukraine. Clearly he is still wrestling with something.
