How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love "Oh, Dear!"
I too used to be annoyed by this phrase, but then I noticed that little comma and everything changed. What I once thought of as an admonition became an endearment. Now whenever I see "oh, dear" I picture myself at a dinner with friends; a dinner where someone politely corrects me with *oh, dear" after misspeaking.
And yes I know...

I post them all the time, they're meant to be playful, it's ridiculous to get annoyed over it. I've been Oh, dear'ed several times over the years, sometimes for embarrassing typos (Stevie Knicks!) and other times for words I had genuinely been using the wrong way. You live and learn, plus many of us here are ESL as well.

The absolute worst is when your "oh, dear" post gets (justifiably) oh-deared.
We're always hankering after an edit function around here, but just think of what we'd miss!

An edit function wouldn't make that much of a difference. People always blame their auto-correct or auto-complete, as well.
