Not surprising, but very disappointing.
So glad I’m from Texas as in not currently there. What a pit of vipers.

They had to acquit. The case fell apart.

It's okay to take bribes if you're a Republican!!!

They went through with this because they originally had the votes to convict.
Apparently what changed since then is Trumpito & company threatening to doxx every GOP politician voting against Abbott.
The few yes votes have already been doxxed and threatened online.
Fucking mob rule these days.

Who’s surprised by this outcome? When it matters most, Republicans always prove they are spineless cowards who put self-preservation over doing the right thing. Only a few recent notable exceptions: Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, and Lisa Murmowski. Given some of the abhorrent policies these four were happy to support in lockstep with GOP orthodoxy, even I can see some redemptive qualities for them. But the GOP mainstream now is all complete gutter trash a la Empty G, Hoebert, Gym Jordan, et al.

Forget it Jake...it's Texas.

National Republicans organized an under-the-radar campaign of outside conservative pressure on the Texas senators sitting in judgment of Paxton.
It was made clear to Texas GOP senators that they'd face a very well-funded primary opponent in their next election if they voted to impeach.

Buncha GOP political pussies in the Texas Senate.

Will the Rethugs send a letter to the Pope to beatify and canonize Ken Paxton like they did for Trump?

How crazy is all this? Paxton is calling Karl Rove a liberal.
[quote]I watched it, so you don’t have to. And it was conspiracies and propaganda-driven lies. Carlson framed it as “Liberals like Karl Rove tried to annihilate Ken Paxton.”
[quote]Liberals like Karl Rove. KARL ROVE. Stop laughing. Take a deep breath. It gets more absurd.
