Martin is a bright but impossibly complex guy with a really long career of projects that fit into different eras of popular media. Some are pretty corny or a mixture of fun and schmaltz. But this old bag sounds willing to say anything about anyone. She reminds me of Sylvia Mikes except Miles was just aged and eccentric but seldom accusatory. It must be really hard to age in public as a performer. It’s really sad when anyone seeks attention at the expense of others. It must be shocking to encounter someone you knew only briefly and a long time ago, spinning a version of your interaction that’s “embroidered” overtime. You can tell when a story of an odd or uncomfortable interaction is “workshopped” over decades at parties and in conversation. You feel bad for the subjects involved.
