What are some bad excuses for missing a job interview or other important meeting/event?

I was once too nervous to attend a job interview, so I called on the morning of the interview and said that I had an emergency appendectomy (lies) and wouldn't be able to do an interview for at least three days. The recruiter appeared to be understanding and told me to contact him with a suitable time for an interview, I did but he never responded back.

I'm sure you have a goody box filled with bad excuses.

r1 My excuses have been mostly boring, just lies about medical issues and transport problems.

I always used "family emergency" and was never questioned. Of course, after the second time my calls were never returned.

I was 20 minutes late for my dream job. Traffic was unreal, and what should have been a 45 minute drive was an hour and a half. I kept calling the HR rep, who was very understanding. I got the job, no idea how that happened.

Why wouldn’t you show up for a job interview if you wanted the job?

No one likes a time-waster, OP.

r9 Cool, did you read the thread title?

“I walked past the building. I won’t work there.”

“My identical twin Cousin Jaime submitted this application to vex me.”

“I scored an eighth; I no longer have time for new employment on this journey.”

“Actually. I work with Indeed and I was wondering if I could give you and your supervisor a presentation. It will only take 93 minutes.”
