Kathy Griffin Revealed That She Called The Police On Her “Pedophile” Brother After Learning Of His Crimes

Kathy Griffin, who took to her TikTok page this week to share her own experience of somebody who was close to her committing heinous crimes.

Kathy explained that her older brother, Ken Griffin, was a pedophile and also physically abusive towards his partners. She called the police on him multiple times in a desperate bid to get him arrested.

“OK, I’m weighing in on the whole Danny Masterson, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis thing,” Kathy began. “The notion that this guy was also convicted of drugging these women, that is such serious stuff that I don’t really care that when they were working on That ‘70s Show he was a good guy to work with.”

“My brother, who’s now dead, his name was Ken Griffin, was a pedophile,” she went on. “It was a horrible, horrible thing and I tried to get him caught. And that was my brother, so I don’t want to hear about Ashton and Mila and Giovanni Ribisi and people that feel like they had to stick up for Danny Masterson because he was their bro, he was their buddy.”

“This was my own brother, and two of his girlfriends confessed to me he also physically abused them very violently and I called the LAPD about it twice,” Kathy said.

She then explained that Ken was a super of a building, which gave him access to his victims because he had keys to every unit. Kathy claimed that he molested a boy and a girl, and while he did go to prison for “something else” he was never convicted for these crimes.

“This has been something that caused a giant rift within my family,” she added. “For many years I was shunned from my own family because I was trying to get my brother Ken arrested.”

Kathy also said that it has “always haunted” her that she was ultimately unable to stop Ken, because the LAPD told her that unless he confessed or one of the children reported him then there was nothing that they could do.

“I think about those children every day, and I think about other victims he probably had,” she shared. “And the difficulty in getting a conviction in SA cases… The bar is so high that I tend to absolutely believe the victims when there’s even a trial.”

“I could never do anything about my brother and I felt so helpless,” Kathy concluded. “The point is, blood was not thicker than water in my case. And if you know that somebody is committing SA, you should do something if you can. My god, at least try.”

Kathy’s video has been viewed over a million times since she posted it, and she has been widely praised for her honesty amid such a difficult topic.

This isn’t the first time that Kathy has discussed Ken, with the star previously opening up about him in her 2009 memoir.

During an appearance on the Tyra Banks Show to promote the book that same year, Kathy said that Ken was 20 years older than her and would crawl into her bed when she was a child.

“When I was a little tiny kid, six or seven years old, he’d come and crawl into bed with me and whisper sweet nothings in my ear and stuff that was creepy,” she shared. “Many, many, many women had a much more difficult time than I did.”

She said that she became “estranged” from him when “a couple of separate women” told her that he was a pedophile — and it created a huge divide in the family.

“It became a difficult thing for me and my family,” Kathy explained. “I told my parents I wasn’t going to come to Christmas until he would leave and stuff like that, it put them in a tough position.”

Kathy added that the rest of her family struggled to understand the way that she felt about Ken because they were in “denial” and wanted “proof” of the allegations.

Eventually, her dad confronted Ken directly, and he apparently responded to the pedophile accusations by simply saying: “I do what I do.”

While Kathy didn’t see her brother “for many years,” she did visit him in hospital shortly before his death because her mom asked her to go and say goodbye while he was “brain dead.”

“I was actually frightened of him until the day he died,” she told Tyra.

Good I would too

[quote]Kathy Griffin, who took to her TikTok page this week to share her own experience of somebody who was close to her committing heinous crimes.

She really is desperate for attention.

Kathy, it's not a competition.

by Anonymousreply 2September 12, 2023 9:50 PM

She's been talking about her brother (pedo) for a long time. So, it makes sense to bring it up, now.

I didn't realize she was 20 years younger than her brother. No wonder her mom seemed kind of old - she *was* old when she had Kathy.

Sad that her parents didn't believe her about the brother. When confronted by the dad, the brother could have just denied being a pedophile (instead of saying "I do what I do") and the parents would have continued to believe him.

by Anonymousreply 3September 12, 2023 9:58 PM

She's right. Bitch about her all you want, but she'll still be right!

And people are bitching because this is something that nobody wants to hear, but that doesn't make her wrong. Because If your buddy or your family member is committing crimes against others, then supporting them doesn't make you the good guy... it makes you an accessory to horrible crimes. And if you succeed in protecting your buddy or family member from the justice system, then it makes you partially responsible for their future crimes as well.

by Anonymousreply 4September 12, 2023 9:59 PM

But she'd be less responsible for the brother's future crimes on account of his being dead, right?

by Anonymousreply 5September 12, 2023 10:08 PM

She talks about her brother's creepy bedtime visits, and the binge eating disorder she subsequently developed, in her memoir. Though she's not revised the story in close to 15 years of telling it, you get the impression she was holding back so as not to devastate her mom.

by Anonymousreply 6September 12, 2023 10:10 PM

Men do horrible things and women will lie about accusations too, sometimes vice versa. I’ve seen it all ways.

by Anonymousreply 7September 12, 2023 10:14 PM

I was molested.

by Anonymousreply 8September 13, 2023 5:34 AM

My brother was (is?) a pedo too but I didn’t have the courage to speak out about it like Kathy did.

by Anonymousreply 9September 13, 2023 6:14 AM

She'a compulsive liar. It may be true, but I'd have to hear it from someone more credible than her.

by Anonymousreply 10September 13, 2023 7:05 AM

Oh do fuck off, R10

by Anonymousreply 11September 13, 2023 10:57 PM

I am so sorry r9. I hope he didn’t attack you.

by Anonymousreply 12September 22, 2023 6:41 PM

R9 That’s how the sentiment you get and the reason why, despite being very talented, nobody fucks with this bitch. She’s a holier than thou, self righteous insufferable cunt.

And she is the worst type of self righteous. She think she is one of the cool gals. Everything she does reeks “I was an ugly duckling, but I own it and am Hollywood funny girl now”. She is funny but has a fucked up personality.

by Anonymousreply 13September 22, 2023 6:46 PM

So her being a horrible person is possibly genetic. Interesting.

by Anonymousreply 14September 22, 2023 6:48 PM

She’s not a horrible person. I like her. She’s a bit… much sometimes, but who isn’t?

by Anonymousreply 15September 22, 2023 7:16 PM

I’m not liking her much anymore. She’s going into dark places.

by Anonymousreply 16September 22, 2023 8:09 PM

Luff huh. Speaking about this actually helps people.

by Anonymousreply 17September 22, 2023 8:40 PM

Why does anyone care what that crazy unemployed hag says? Seriously.

by Anonymousreply 18September 22, 2023 8:47 PM

I am not a fan of her but I appreciate her candor about this. Ashton and Mila should have known better than to write a letter supporting someone who was accused of rape until they were certain. It was a stupid move on their part.

by Anonymousreply 19September 22, 2023 10:09 PM

Ashton and Mia shouldn't have written a letter of support, without finding out whether the judge would make them public!

Seriously, I don't blame them for being fooled. That's what predators DO, they fool the people around them into thinking they're nice and normal, they get into a position of trust so they can abuse it.

by Anonymousreply 20September 22, 2023 10:45 PM

I was molested at a Carrot Top show.

by Anonymousreply 21September 22, 2023 10:53 PM

She and I went to high school together, though I was a senior when she was a freshman (we were in the chorus of Oklahoma! together). I would never claim to know her, but her support of gay men is genuine—she really did go to prom with a very sweet twink whom everyone—including her—could tell was it would be gay. She succeeded in major musical roles like Hodel in Fiddler and Rosemary in How to Succeed—I saw her in both and she was good and believable. The director was a very straight, midwestern guy, so she must have impressed him enough in terms of responsibility and potential for him to cast her multiple times. I suspect Drama might have been an escape for from a difficult family situation (and she treated her parents decently on her show, I thought, all things equal). Yes, she’s made any number of I’ll-advised choices and has caused some of her own unhappiness, but I believe her about the pedo brother and the shit she took from her family over it—her family were typically St. Bernadine’s parishioners—working/middle class, obedient to church dogma, not very self-reflective. We’re not talking about fine Jesuit minds here.

by Anonymousreply 22September 22, 2023 10:57 PM

I like her. Always have

by Anonymousreply 23September 22, 2023 11:17 PM

I’m fine with Kathy. I liked her comedy. I think she’s still suffering from Dumpster fatigue. That whole bloody head thing really messed her up.

by Anonymousreply 24September 22, 2023 11:43 PM

"I believe her about the pedo brother and the shit she took from her family over it"

So do I, I've heard a million variations on the same story. Not just the classic "family calls girl who tells the truth about a molesting male relative a lying slut", but because when a younger sibling accuses an older sibling of abuse, whether sexual or otherwise, the older sibling is almost always believed and supported. And that's because for all their protestations of fairness and loving the children equally, a son is still valued more than a daughter, and an elder child of the same sex is still valued more than a younger one.

by Anonymousreply 25September 23, 2023 12:28 AM

R24 You know what I kinda agree with you. The thing is Trump disrespected himself and the American country so much we all let our guards down. He still became president. You cannot threaten violence in such a graphic way towards the sitting American President. It’s disgraceful. And criminal.

by Anonymousreply 26September 23, 2023 1:20 AM

Her standup routine is awesome. Well her standup from years ago. Her act about her relationship with Barbara Walters and Brooke Shields wedding is probably the funniest standup in the last 50 or so years. It's on YouTube. If you haven't seen it you should give it a look.

by Anonymousreply 27September 23, 2023 11:42 AM

r27 Agreed - that Allegedly special is freaking hilarious

She's got something coming out, I bet.
