That was a movie about the making of Nosferatu. This is a remake of the original.

Was quite disappointed in The Northman, but I'll give Eggers a chance anytime after The Lighthouse.

r12 No one is touching the original, it'll still be there for your enjoyment. That's why I've never been against remakes per se – at their worst, they're just there, being harmless. But at their very best, they can bring a different perspective and even shed new light on the original by helping us think about it in ways we haven't before.

The original is as exciting as watching paint dry.

Werner Herzog remade Nosferatu in 1979. His version is beautifully shot and full of dark humor.

One of the problems with the original is that no good copies of it have survived. Bram Stoker’s estate sued for copyright infringement (the story is just Dracula with the characters renamed), and almost all copies of it were destroyed. The few copies that missed the bonfire are pretty scratchy; it makes the movie either duller or more atmospheric, depending on the viewer.

The old style look of Nosferatu is what adds to its atmosphere and horror. HD updates exist and they aren’t nearly as creepy. Add to the fact people love to change the creepy original music to a more light and playful one.

I will see any movie Eggers cares to make. The Witch is in my top five movies. A shame that Anya couldn’t be in it. Perhaps controversially I quite enjoyed Lily-Rose’s performance in The Idol when I hate-watched it recently. The Weeknd, however, ooooooft that was bad.

Nicholas Hoult? I'd watch him in anything. I loved him in The Favorite, there wasn't enough of him in it, though.

People criticizing the remake must not be aware of Eggers as an auteur, his love and respect of the horror genre, or the seriousness and exactness with which he makes his films. If we're painting with a broad brush, his films seem designed purposely to isolate Generation Z.

I hope ATJ and Hoult don't get made up to look ugly in this.

Eggers is amazing. He is able to create a very distinctive atmosphere in all his movies that completely sucks you in. I love him. I’m glad test audience reactions have been positive. I’m still disappointed about Anya though.

It's even more disappointing that Eggers was ever willing to even consider Harry Styles. Thank god he's gone.
