I find this show hard to watch because all the women look and sound the same. They also don’t seem to stick around for very long, while the men mostly stay the same.

Southern Charm was always intended to be driven by the male cast. Kathryn basically dragooned her way into becoming a main character on the show by being a real life soap opera heroine.

What’s interesting to watch this season is the transition of Madison from a Kathryn-replacement (which is the function she served when Kathryn got to bleak for the show) into the snarky narrator/boy-whisperer role that Camryn used to fill. Unfortunately, Taylor is not “complex female character” enough to be the lead woman on the show.

I figure the show is roughly scripted with respect to the major "plot" progression. Most obvious this season in the actions of JT. But judging from Olivia's reactions, maybe not everyone is fully read-in. Some cracks in her normally super flat affect.

I miss Cameran Eubanks and Chelsea Meissner. They were so normal and sweet.

This show needs Kelly Dodd.

If this is all scripted, or at least storyboarded, as it seems it must be, I'm giving Olivia some credit for her performance this season. With the guys, the acting is never subtle.

As someone who's never watched Vanderpump Rules, I was surprised by a Bravo commercial break that claimed it was the most popular show on cable. On cable? What is there like a cable Nielsen's rating?
