Laura Linney assistant physically assaulted caught on cam

A member of Laura Linney's team was assaulted by an autograph hound -- and considering how close this guy got to the star herself ... it's a testament to the need for bodyguards.

The 'Ozark' actress was in NYC Friday for Fashion Week, and as she was leaving an event -- escorted by a handler of some sort, it seems -- some dude came out of nowhere and attempted to approach her for her John Hancock ... and aggressively, right out of the gate.

Looks like the autograph hound tried to run up and the little assistant said "No" and moved him off away from Linney. Then the guy came back at them and smacked the little assistant upside the head.

Meh. Hardly a big scary event. TMZ trolling for clicks, as usual.

by Anonymousreply 1September 10, 2023 12:56 AM

R1 He punches him in the head. Fuck that. Bet your ass would be scared if a stranger punched your head.

by Anonymousreply 2September 10, 2023 1:02 AM

What will happen when they start coming for actual stars? You know, Oscar winners.

by Anonymousreply 3September 10, 2023 1:04 AM

Wow, she looks great in the video. Love that she decided to age gracefully with only some minor "enhancements" done on her face.

by Anonymousreply 4September 10, 2023 1:11 AM

I like blue.

by Anonymousreply 5September 10, 2023 1:35 AM

She has a team?

What is she, Beyonce's tax-paying doppelganger?

by Anonymousreply 6September 10, 2023 3:13 AM

I've never heard of Laura Linney

by Anonymousreply 7September 10, 2023 3:26 AM

The thing you can see in the video is Laura is genuinely concerned got her assistant and asks him if he is okay. Linney may be a lot of things, but she is also a genuine person.

by Anonymousreply 8September 10, 2023 3:51 AM

Crazy ass people.

by Anonymousreply 9September 10, 2023 3:56 AM

I Did it For You, Laura Linney should be the name of a play.

by Anonymousreply 10September 10, 2023 4:01 AM

what's a John Hancock?

by Anonymousreply 11September 10, 2023 4:39 AM

You wound, r11...

by Anonymousreply 12September 10, 2023 4:42 AM

WHO??

by Anonymousreply 13September 10, 2023 4:42 AM

[quote] what's a John Hancock

It’s what the upper class call a toilet.

by Anonymousreply 14September 10, 2023 4:46 AM

The video in the OP article in no longer available. Is there footage somewhere else?

by Anonymousreply 15September 10, 2023 4:49 AM

Eric Adam's NYC for ya

by Anonymousreply 16September 10, 2023 4:51 AM

[quote]what's a John Hancock?

Her signature, r11.

by Anonymousreply 17September 10, 2023 4:52 AM

R17 It knew, it just wanted attention

by Anonymousreply 18September 10, 2023 4:53 AM

It seems a dated expression.

by Anonymousreply 19September 10, 2023 4:57 AM

It isn't dated, r19, it's significant and timeless.

by Anonymousreply 20September 10, 2023 4:58 AM

Still there for me, r15. It just takes forever to load.

Click-baity, yes, but that could have gone badly. He was a big dude. If he had landed that blow, that story could have ended very differently.

I was surprised they brushed it off so easily.

by Anonymousreply 21September 10, 2023 5:01 AM

If you've ever been at a red carpet or exits where celebrities go out of, there are always these SUPER AGGRESSIVE autograph collectors.

They're 90% fat, asocial-looking male dorks - most of whom sell the signatures online or do other things with it.

They're not like actual fans - you can tell by the look on their faces and their demeanors. They're going to shove every child and woman out of the way to get their signature in some book or other.

Fucking weirdos. That's what I see here too.

by Anonymousreply 22September 10, 2023 5:04 AM

A Laura Linney autograph can go for up to $5.00 on Ebay.

by Anonymousreply 23September 10, 2023 5:05 AM

Margo Channing - Autograph fiends! They're not people - those little beast who run in packs like coyotes- They're nobody's fans! They're juvenile delinquents, mental detectives, they're nobody's audience, they never see a play or a movie, even - they're never indoors long enough!

by Anonymousreply 24September 10, 2023 5:08 AM

It's proof of our brush with greatness!

by Anonymousreply 25September 10, 2023 5:13 AM

They have a gate at Fashion Week?

by Anonymousreply 26September 10, 2023 5:15 AM

That autograph guy is autistic with schizo affective disorder.

by Anonymousreply 27September 10, 2023 5:49 AM

Why did the guy walk up so pissed off? Creepy. I don’t blame her assistant.

by Anonymousreply 28September 10, 2023 5:50 AM

R28 he’s insane. Another mentally ill and feral street urchin

by Anonymousreply 29September 10, 2023 5:53 AM

R29 = Miss Sally Ross

by Anonymousreply 30September 10, 2023 5:56 AM

I don’t condone assault, but this would’ve never happened if Laura Linney acknowledged she’s not famous enough to have a team.

by Anonymousreply 31September 10, 2023 5:59 AM

I hate hate HATE it when actors are referred to as having “teams”. It so obnoxiously pretentious.

by Anonymousreply 32September 10, 2023 6:03 AM

Laura Linney has people hounding her autographs like that?

by Anonymousreply 33September 10, 2023 2:39 PM

[quote] TMZ trolling for clicks, as usual.

Just like a common Murdoch.

by Anonymousreply 34September 10, 2023 2:40 PM

Probably has a chip on his shoulder and operates on the belief that everyone is out to get him even though he isn't even a blip on their radar.

by Anonymousreply 35September 10, 2023 3:49 PM

She looks very pretty in that outfit.

by Anonymousreply 36September 10, 2023 9:31 PM

He better be tracked down and beaten for that kind of behavior. If not, I guarantee it will continue.

by Anonymousreply 37September 10, 2023 9:43 PM

Apparently Laura Linney had one assistant with her. That's not a "team".

by Anonymousreply 38September 10, 2023 9:49 PM

Bizarre. Laura Linney seems like the type you can chat with on line at the supermarket. Hardly worth an assault to get her autograph.

by Anonymousreply 39September 10, 2023 9:55 PM

I wouldn’t chat with Laura Linney at the supermarket and SHE KNOWS why!!

by Anonymousreply 40September 10, 2023 10:51 PM

I’ve chatted with Laura Linney. About as down to earth as a celebrity can get. She used a friend’s apartment as her dressing room/makeup spot during Tales of the City and he said she was just lovely.

by Anonymousreply 41September 10, 2023 11:57 PM

^But did you ask for her John Hancock?

by Anonymousreply 42September 11, 2023 2:16 AM

My opinion of Laura Linney was left forever changed when she shameless clambered for Liam Neeson’s ginormous dick after his wife just died.

by Anonymousreply 43September 11, 2023 12:29 PM

R43 Both Linney and Neeson have said for years that theirs is merely a close friendship. He gave her away at her wedding. They aren’t fucking.

by Anonymousreply 44September 11, 2023 2:42 PM

Her hair colour in the OP link pic is tragic. She's always looks like she dyes her hair using drug store colour.

by Anonymousreply 45September 11, 2023 2:47 PM

Wow, shots fired, R45. Try maintaining a natural blonde shade after 35, pal. I wouldn't know, but I bet it's not easy.

Glad to hear LL is safe and sound.

by Anonymousreply 46September 11, 2023 5:52 PM

I laughed. Am I evil?

by Anonymousreply 47September 11, 2023 6:19 PM

Honey, r46. It's easiest for blonds. She just needs to tone that brassiness out and stick to a cooler shade of blonde. She can maintain with purple shampoo.

by Anonymousreply 48September 11, 2023 6:45 PM

Laura exudes a strong Karen energy.

by Anonymousreply 49September 11, 2023 6:45 PM

Linney's fine as an actress, good even. I have no idea why some autograph hound rushed up to her like that. The assistant was correct to push him away. It's a shame he got smacked in the head for it. He seemed unhurt although I'm sure it was quite a surprise.

The autograph hound will probably try the same move again and he'll be backed off even harder next time. In addition, I'm sure his photograph is being disseminated to all of the security personnel in the city. His face will be known to all of them and he'll be dealt with harshly when he goes for his next target.

by Anonymousreply 50September 11, 2023 7:19 PM

I thought she was a down to earth type until I saw Laura on Inside the Actors Studio where she demonstrated she could be as pretentious as anybody else.

by Anonymousreply 51September 12, 2023 4:46 AM

Is anyone down to earth on those things though? Even Meryl was embarrassed.

by Anonymousreply 52September 12, 2023 2:05 PM

Laura Linney is a professional Also Ran.

by Anonymousreply 53September 12, 2023 2:24 PM

I think collecting autographs is rather moronic, but I love Laura Linney.

by Anonymousreply 54September 12, 2023 3:18 PM

I just loved her in Congo.

Her dollar-store Laura Dern was transcendent!

by Anonymousreply 55September 12, 2023 8:34 PM

Who asks for a John Hancock anymore? Most fans want a selfie. Even more than 10 years ago I heard actors bitching about how no one wants an autograph.

by Anonymousreply 56September 12, 2023 9:22 PM

I love hate her. Shes a good actor, so good I cant separate her from her roll as the selfish wife in Ozark.

by Anonymousreply 57September 12, 2023 9:24 PM

'Roll'

Oh, dear...

by Anonymousreply 58September 12, 2023 9:29 PM

Laura Linney said she was 'glad that no one was severely hurt' after an aggressive autograph seeker struck an assistant who was helping her following an event in New York City Friday.

The 59-year-old actress spoke with People Monday about the incident, as she attended the Toronto International Film Festival for the debut of her new film Wildcat.

The New York City native told the publication during entrances at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, 'You know, it was an unfortunate thing that happened.'

by Anonymousreply 59September 13, 2023 4:40 AM

“The 'Ozark' actress was in NYC Friday for Fashion Week.”

Not computing.

by Anonymousreply 60September 13, 2023 4:46 AM

The incident occurred as the three-time Academy Award nominee emerged from a show at New York Fashion Week.

The Ozark actress had enjoyed a front row seat at the Christian Siriano Fashion Show alongside Janet Jackson and Alicia Silverstone at the Pierre Hotel on the Upper East Side.

by Anonymousreply 61September 13, 2023 4:51 AM

Wow, cool city.

by Anonymousreply 62September 13, 2023 4:54 AM

And they say New Yorkers are not rude.

by Anonymousreply 63September 13, 2023 5:04 AM

I love the Pierre Hotel and I love the Carlyle. Hard to say which one I prefer, probably the Pierre now that Bobby Short isn't at the Carlyle anymore. Gorgeous hotels.

by Anonymousreply 64September 13, 2023 5:06 AM

Wonder why they didn’t file a report and press charges? 🤔✊🏿

by Anonymousreply 65September 13, 2023 5:12 AM

Because the young assistant got smacked upside the head, nobody tried to strangle him or beat him to death. That smack hardly warrants the hours of hassle and the cops and all that mess. The assisstant can file if he wants, maybe someone knows the autograph guy. Apparently Linney was headed out of the country to TIFF and didn't have time for all that. The guy will undoubtedly show up again somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 66September 13, 2023 5:23 AM

I genuinely appreciate her acting ability.

Loved her in THE SAVAGES.

by Anonymousreply 67September 13, 2023 5:37 AM

Her hair is a disaster. The brassiness is tantamount to a war crime. How very dare you Laura. With all yo moneh you can't afford purple shampoo???????????

by Anonymousreply 68September 13, 2023 5:50 AM

Janet Jackson, Laura Linney, Alicia Silverstone, Rosie Perez, Avril Lavigne and Kesha attend the Christian Siriano SS24 runway show at The Pierre Hotel on Sept. 8, 2023, in New York City.

Anyone see her on Broadway? I feel bad she has at least 4 Tony nominations and no wins. I'm sure she will one day

by Anonymousreply 70September 13, 2023 6:24 AM

Alicia's looking good.

by Anonymousreply 71September 13, 2023 8:51 AM

There are so many crazy mofos in New York. So freaking many.

by Anonymousreply 72September 13, 2023 9:08 AM

R65 Why can’t you just die already. Nobody wants to fuck you. You are a racist. Ughh…..smh. And I’m sorry Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 73September 13, 2023 9:10 AM

R70: I saw LL on Broadway in The Crucible opposite Liam Neeson in 2002. Great cast but OK production. I actually preferred the revival in 2016 with Ben Whishaw, Sophie Okonedo and Saoirse Ronan. Much better.

by Anonymousreply 74September 13, 2023 2:34 PM

BTW, the guy who was hit by the crazy guy was not Laura's personal assistant, but a NYFW assistant. I don't think it's up to her to press charges, but the FW coordinators.

by Anonymousreply 75September 13, 2023 2:42 PM

Laura Linney can handle herself. Just ask Audra...

by Anonymousreply 78September 13, 2023 5:45 PM

R78 Miss Diana Ross up in the building. I like you, Teacunt, even if you are a dumb cunt.
