These five U.S. cities could be one natural disaster away from a catastrophic water crisis
At the rate our climate is changing, America’s water infrastructure is not equipped to handle the challenges to come, said Erik Olson, the senior strategic director for health and food with the National Resources Defense Council. America’s water system relies on last century’s infrastructure that often can’t protect our health from hazardous contaminants,” Olson told CNN. “And our outdated system is completely unprepared for this century’s challenges of intense heat, drought and flooding.”
To better understand the issue, CNN examined five cities or regions across the country that show signs of vulnerability under a rapidly warming planet – from coastal flooding in New York to saltwater intrusion in California’s groundwater:
Buffalo, New York
Prichard, Alabama
St. Louis, Missouri
Central Coast, California
San Juan, Puerto Rico

I guess CNN considers Central Coast, CA a city.

Water is gonna be the thing that causes wars in the next 100 years
Arizona is going to run out of water. There are 4 different deserts in the state and the rainfall right now only averages 8 inches a year
Louisiana will be mostly underwater
Florida land mass will shrink (but there’s good drainage and drainage canals)
Manhattan will be flooded on a regular basis
Mississippi will be the new “hot place to move” in the next 20 years. With high rainfall averages, beautiful natural landscapes, and relatively low cost.
Wild fires will continue to plague California, Texas and Colorado.
Homeowners insurance will go through a complete overhaul and will be administered (mostly) by the state and federal government Think Citizens Insurance currently in Florida

Buffalo?
I've read more than once in various reports that Buffalo and the surrounding area looks to be a place that's going to do well as far as climate change goes, including "abundant fresh water."

I had the exact same thought, R5.
Not to mention that Buffalo is right next to a HUGE fresh water source, Niagara Falls.
That list is ridiculous.
