Joe the Plumber is DEAD TO ME!

He tried to ride the Republican grift machine but never quite made it work. Of course he had a crowdbegging page.

Rest in piss, Joe!

by Anonymousreply 10August 28, 2023 2:58 AM

Absolute, total, complete idiot.
In 2016, Wurzelbacher voted for Republican nominee Donald Trump, who won the election. [bold]“He’s a winner. He’s made billions. He’s dated beautiful women. His wife is a model. That’s not to sniff at. And a lot of people believe he can bring that kind of success to the White House,”[/bold] Wurzelbacher said in an interview with Reuters in 2016.

by Anonymousreply 11August 28, 2023 2:58 AM
In June 2012, Wurzelbacher's election campaign released a video in which he claimed that the implementation of gun control resulted in Europe's Jews being unable to defend themselves during the Holocaust, explaining that "In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others unable to defend themselves were exterminated."
In the same video, Wurzelbacher stated that the implementation of gun control by the Ottoman Empire in 1911 resulted in Armenians being unable to defend themselves against the Armenian genocide.
Wurzelbacher subsequently defended the video, stating that "Different countries around the world have tried to disarm their citizens, and then have tried to exterminate their own now-unarmed citizens. If people are looking to be offended by this video, they are probably serving a political agenda. Unfortunately there are a lot of whiners out there." Wurzelbacher's spokesman, Phil Christofanelli, also defended the video, stating that Wurzelbacher was a "student of history" who knows that the Founding Fathers "understood that the 2nd Amendment was always the people's last defense against tyrannical government."
In August 2012, Wurzelbacher drew criticism for a comment he made about illegal immigration. During a campaign rally for Arizona State Senator Lori Klein, Wurzelbacher said, "For years I've said, you know, put a damn fence on the border, going to Mexico and start shooting."
When asked about the comment later, he said that he didn't care about being "politically incorrect." Klein defended Wurzelbacher, telling reporters his comments were just a joke.
In an open letter to the parents of victims who died in the 2014 Isla Vista killings, Wurzelbacher wrote of his right to "protect my family" stating, "As harsh as this sounds—your dead kids don't trump my Constitutional rights ... We still have the Right to Bear Arms ... Any feelings you have toward my rights being taken away from me, lose those."
In 2023, Wurzelbacher was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died on August 27, 2023, aged 49.

Good fucking riddance to him!!

by Anonymousreply 17August 28, 2023 3:25 AM
No one is suggesting that Joe was stupid or dimwitted or in any way mentally challenged. It wasn't his native intelligence that troubled us. Rather, what made Joe so damned infuriating was his annoying combination of abysmal ignorance and near suffocating arrogance. While practically every word out of his mouth was factually inaccurate or unsupportable, he uttered them with the supreme confidence of a Nobel Laureate.
For example, while portraying himself as a "small businessman," he complained that if Obama were elected, his proposed tax plan would almost certainly ruin him, even though the most cursory inspection of Obama's proposal revealed that the plan would help Joe and everyone else who earned less than $250,000 annually. At the time, Joe was making less than $40,000 a year and had a $1,182 lien against him for failure to pay back taxes.
Also, Joe fudged the truth a bit by presenting himself as a journeyman plumber. Maybe it was the result of McCain's people pressuring him to present himself as such, or maybe he simply got swept away by the moment, but in truth, Joe didn't possess a journeyman's card (he never passed the certification test). His actual job title was "plumber's assistant." Not to put too fine a point on it, but the difference between a journeyman plumber and a "plumber's assistant" is profound. It is analogous to the difference between an auto mechanic capable of overhauling an engine and one capable of changing the spark plugs and oil.

"Annoying combination of abysmal ignorance and near suffocating arrogance." He was ahead of his time in the GOP.
"I don't owe him shit," Sam Wurzelbacher – his real name – told a public radio reporter after addressing a small political meeting in Pennsylvania when asked about Mr McCain. "He really screwed up my life, is how I look at it."Mr Wurzelbacher was thrust into the headlines worldwide just a few weeks before the elections when Mr McCain made repeated reference to him during one of the televised presidential debates. The two men had met days before and Mr Wurzelbacher had voiced fears about likely tax increases if Barack Obama were to become president. The unexpected notoriety caused instant problems, with reports the next day that he practised plumbing without a licence. And towards Mr McCain, Mr Wurzelbacher clearly feels no gratitude. "McCain was trying to use me," he told Scott Detrow, the reporter. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy."

by Anonymousreply 31August 28, 2023 5:44 AM

I just can't feel much empathy for these people. They are so hateful and harmful. Truly despicable. If that makes me a bad person so be it. I was never this way until Trump and Maga. Never have I had so much hatred in me.

by Anonymousreply 32August 28, 2023 6:02 AM

I am proud to have empathy for them, and pity them. It proves my values are better than theirs, and that they have no power over me. I will never stop so low as to revel in someone's slow physical agony.

by Anonymousreply 33August 28, 2023 6:06 AM

R33- I dont revel, I just can't feel much empathy. Not the empathy I feel for others in the same situation. It isn't something I am comfortable with but it isn't something I can change.

I am surprised by his age. He was a 33 year old bald wannabe plumber in 2008? If anyone manifested pancreatic cancer because of the corrosive hate and ignorance he put into the world, it was good ole Joe. He rode that Tea Party/Anti-Obama train till the wheels fell off. Rest in pieces, Joe.

by Anonymousreply 40August 28, 2023 7:59 AM

R36- These people are destroying our country. For eight agonizing years they have put us through ungodly hell and it isn't over. They refused to wear masks or get vaccinated in the middle of a global pandemic. They are fine with watching children get shot to pieces at schools. They enjoy inflicting pain and misery on us. We wouldn't be human if we didn't have anger and resentment towards them. They are destroying us, our freedom. Yet you believe we shouldn't have animosity towards them? Feel relief when there is one less fascist in the world? We are at war. You don't cuddle with the enemy.

by Anonymousreply 41August 28, 2023 8:06 AM

Please stop, R33/R36/R38… I can’t endure your relentless attacks against me. I have stage 4 fibro which is very painful and debilitating, and it absolves me of the insensitive comments I made about Joe the Plumber. How dare you revel in my suffering!

by Anonymousreply 42August 28, 2023 8:07 AM

Are there any shades of grey in your word, R41? Being humane and cuddling are two very distinct things. Can you fucking modulate, or do things need to be this simple for you? How does this make you better than them, let alone solve matters?

by Anonymousreply 43August 28, 2023 8:08 AM

R43- It's real simple for me. They are pure evil. It's us or them and I guarantee you they do not have one drop of sympathy for us. They aren't capable of empathy.

by Anonymousreply 44August 28, 2023 8:14 AM

R44. You may not get what you're doing here to make things worse for yourself here, but others do. In my eyes you're no better than they are and make it harder for all of us.

by Anonymousreply 45August 28, 2023 8:20 AM

R45- I really don't care what you think. You are underestimating how dangerous these people are and what they are capable of.

There are very fine people on both sides.

by Anonymousreply 47August 28, 2023 8:40 AM

by Anonymousreply 48August 28, 2023 8:43 AM

R45, I'm really glad your approach will disallow you from running anything, ever in the Democratic politics/policy, let alone elsewhere. Only Republicans seem to let people through who have grudges so strong their humanity has left the building.

by Anonymousreply 49August 28, 2023 9:31 AM

R45- Do you have sympathy for Trump?

by Anonymousreply 50August 28, 2023 9:36 AM

by Anonymousreply 60August 28, 2023 10:37 AM

1.
I have no need to plead my case.
But you are Blanche.

2. Anyone who knows the history of fascism knows your approach perpetuates it, doesn't defeat it. This is why Germany and Japan weren't burned to the ground. and subjugated. You will never, ever be able to rid yourself of everyone you don't like and need to figure out pragmatic ways to accept that, which is the fucking point of anti-fascism.

So tired of you absolutist assholes. Life's not the simple, and you're not helping.

by Anonymousreply 61August 28, 2023 10:57 AM

R61- You are delusional if you actually believe that. There is no compromising with fascists. They are set on destroying everything in their path. Does Putin seem like a compromising person with a conscience to you? They don't gaf about honor, integrity, people. They are violent racists who destroy anyone who gets in their way. They enjoy violence. The magaTs are foaming at the mouth for a civil war. Wake up and face reality. They want to rule over everyone. These people thrive on violence and destruction. Have you ever read any history on Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini?

by Anonymousreply 62August 28, 2023 11:11 AM

Steve Jobs had an insulinoma, a rare and rather benign type of pancreas cancer, which has a 94% five year survival. But Steve Jobs turned down surgery and elected to follow some new age macrobiotic diet for nine months before realizing it didn't work. The point is Steve Jobs might very well still be among us if he had not jump right into the rabbit hole of macrobiotic food faddism.

I don't know much about Joe the Plumber but couldn't pancreatic cancer be a long term side effect of high dose ivermectin and we're going to see the dead MAGA bodies pile up as time goes by? Don't give me hope!

by Anonymousreply 63August 28, 2023 11:11 AM

Did he smoke? That causes pancreatic cancer. That is how Michael Landon died, I believe. Wow, I didn't know that about Steve Jobs.

by Anonymousreply 64August 28, 2023 11:16 AM

Wait what, smoking causes pancreatic cancer?

by Anonymousreply 65August 28, 2023 11:32 AM

Smoking certainly increases the risk of having it.

Thanks for posting that information R63. Steve Jobs committed food is medicine, medicine is bad suicide. A healthy diet is necessary, but not sufficient, when it come to treating cancer.

by Anonymousreply 66August 28, 2023 11:38 AM

R62 - You don't give a flying fuck about defeating fascism sustainably. You just give a fuck about defeating it by any means necessary. The Germans were just as destructive and just as violent. You sounds like you're mistaking punditry and activism — which are important and have their place — for expertise in how to [bold]sustainably[/bold] defeat fascism. Do you think it's a fucking accident that fascism started creeping back into society pretty much as soon as the generation who defeated last time died off? It is damned important Trump and his ilk are defeated, but you seem unwilling to accept that being inhumane isn't going to work here. We have history to prove it, not the name-calling that you resort to.

by Anonymousreply 67August 28, 2023 11:42 AM

R65, - Yes, it does. David Bowie smoked, Michael Landon smoked and before he died he begged his friend to quit. He didn't and he died of pancreatic cancer as well.

by Anonymousreply 68August 28, 2023 11:43 AM

Victor French was the name of his friend. He played Mr. Edwards on Little House. He and Michael Landon were very close friends.

by Anonymousreply 69August 28, 2023 11:45 AM

R67- What do you suggest? Have TED talks with them? You do not have the slightest clue about who i am and what I feel, you condescending little fuck-twat. You go sing Kumbia with the heartless, violent fascists while they mock you for your effort. You are starting to sound unhinged.

But he sure was a poster child for deep and profound stupidity, for parroting whatever dumb shit Fox, Breitbart, et al sends into the universe blaming everyone else in the world for one's woes.

One of the fatal flaws of liberal policies is that they raise living standards enough that people begin to fantasise that they are standing on their own two feet. The material comfort that social security, Medicare, Obamacare, VA hospitals, etc provide allow people to form fantasies that they are rugged individualists who would flourish in life were it not for government interference.
