In the Line of Fire (1993)

What a great movie, just watched it on Netflix. Clint Eastwood as a SS agent, Rene Russo, John Mahoney, Dylan McDermot, and John Malkovich, as an assassin and at his creepiest. Malkovich was nominated for an Academy Award. The movie has the vibe of a horror movie.

One thing I miss about the 90s: one great movie after the next.

Lots of good actors in small roles. That was probably the first time I saw Joshua Malina in anything.

I really enjoyed this movie. He had another one that came out about the same time-ish called Absolute Power with Laura Linney, Ed Harris, Judy Davis, and Gene Hackman. Very good, too.

Featuring a hot 32 year old, Dylan McDermott.

Don't forget about the stereotypical LGBTQ representation!

That sweet little bank clerk for Minnesota, though.

Of course now the first thing I think is that Eastwood is a staunch Republican. So I guess I also miss when everything wasn’t so political.

We watched it last night on your rec, thanks!

We laughed, we cringed, we gasped and yelled, it was fun. They don't make movies with such sincere tonality anymore. It was Malkovich's movie but his villain never crossed over into camp. Even the occasional howler was a little gift (the Chief of Staff furiously refusing to cancel a State Dinner--and offend all those French people?!)
