And just like that: "And Just Like That" was already renewed for S3

"Get ready for more “Hot Fellas” and Birkins! Max has renewed And Just Like That… for Season 3 ahead of the Sex and the City spinoff series’ sophomore finale on August 24.

“We are delighted to share that since the launch of Season 2, And Just Like That... ranks as the No. 1 Max Original overall and is the most-watched returning Max Original to date,” Max Headof Content Sarah Aubrey said in a statement."

Yeah more Che!

by Anonymousreply 1August 22, 2023 8:13 PM

Could someone tell me exactly what a Birken bag is and what's so great about them? I know they're very expensive and people who spend that on a fucking purse are shallow, worthless pieces of shit.

by Anonymousreply 2August 22, 2023 8:13 PM

And just like that…we moved into a retirement community.

by Anonymousreply 3August 22, 2023 8:14 PM

All the people hate-watching it are keeping it going. Congrats.

by Anonymousreply 4August 22, 2023 8:14 PM

I bate watch it, it is the perfect show for that purpose. It is awful but you can’t help but watch the delusional train wreck happening in front of you.

by Anonymousreply 5August 22, 2023 8:15 PM

"Bate watch," eh?

by Anonymousreply 6August 22, 2023 8:27 PM

SJP will never let this SATC phenomenon die. At her age, it’s either continue with this or open up another shoe store. Cynthia and Kristin will follow along because they’re lapdogs and won’t find publicity and paychecks like this anywhere else. The haters know this show is shit but they just can’t help themselves. Ready or not MPK will have these gals dancing on dicks into their 90s.

by Anonymousreply 7August 22, 2023 8:28 PM

Great news!

by Anonymousreply 8August 22, 2023 8:32 PM

R2, I'm a little surprised you've never seen what a Birkin bag is. They're sold by Hermès, and they've been a cult purchase item among women dating back to the original SATC and beyond, but there's at least a three-year waiting list for those plebes who don't have an "in" of some sort (e.g. spending seven figures per year with the company). There's also an active aftermarket for them, and it's not uncommon to see ones in particularly rare skins sell for six figures at a Sotheby's or Christie's auction. (Seriously. Think crocodile somehow dyed pink.) OTOH they're also the ONLY bags to exact that steep a price, unless it's one owned by Audrey Hepburn or an iconic star.

While Hermès anything is criminally expensive, you're at least *somewhat* getting what you paid for: Birkin bags are sewn by hand in Italy using some of the finest leathers and exotics in the world.

by Anonymousreply 9August 22, 2023 8:34 PM

Now how much money are they gonna throw at Kim to film separate phone call scenes for season three?

by Anonymousreply 10August 22, 2023 8:38 PM

That fucking horse is gonna dump me AGAIN??

by Anonymousreply 11August 22, 2023 8:45 PM

I don't understand it R9. You can purchase fabulous, hand made handbags at local festivals and art/craft shows. I bought my sister a bag she fell in love with at a rodeo vendor stall. The guy selling it was a Native American leather artisan. It was doe skin and as soft as butter. I just think paying for a name is stupid, I suppose.

by Anonymousreply 12August 22, 2023 9:01 PM

The latest season went to 5 DL threads. No other show is really doing that these days so we're as much to blame as anyone.

by Anonymousreply 13August 22, 2023 9:04 PM

I actually enjoyed S2, so I'm not mad that there's going to be a S3.

by Anonymousreply 14August 22, 2023 9:07 PM

This isn't surprising at all and I must say S2 is a modest improvement from S1.

by Anonymousreply 15August 22, 2023 9:10 PM

“Max”. Not even good enough to be called HBO.

by Anonymousreply 16August 22, 2023 9:32 PM

FUCK YEAH!!! Can't wait to see more old lady tits and airbrushed abs!

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2023 9:41 PM

Stop lying to yourself...after 2 seasons, you're not hate watching, you're just plain old watching. Congratulations on having really shitty taste and gobbling up the fresh shit they serve for y'all.

by Anonymousreply 18August 22, 2023 9:50 PM

With the strike, and SJP's London run of Plaza Suite, you won't see an episode until 2025.

by Anonymousreply 19August 22, 2023 10:27 PM

Never underestimate the power of the vaginal dollar.

by Anonymousreply 20August 22, 2023 11:24 PM

Who watches? Elderly gays and lesbians in caftans?

by Anonymousreply 21August 22, 2023 11:27 PM

R12, that's fashion.

Is this ridiculous, oversized t-shirt with an idiotic additional neckline down at the hem worth $1290?

Objectively, no. But to some consumers the fact that it is Balenciaga means that they would be willing to pay that much, which means that to some people, it is worth that much.

I think it is an example of how far Balenciaga has fallen.

by Anonymousreply 23August 22, 2023 11:33 PM

OP you retard. You asked HOW but then quote the article that explains it. The show gets a lot of viewers.

Fingers crossed that Sebastiano Pigazzi stays in the show.

That Balenciaga T-shirt is ridiculous. Balenciaga is turning into Moschino, which is not good.

Here are some vintage Balenciaga gowns.

by Anonymousreply 28August 23, 2023 2:11 AM

I enjoy the show, don’t get all the hate for AJLT, never have. The biggest haters seem to be the viewers who had the most emotionally invested in the original series. Which was great fun as a comedy of manners, a zeitgeist show, but nothing profoundly brilliant.

And AJLT is the top-rated show on Max of any kind, so of course it was coming back.

by Anonymousreply 29August 23, 2023 3:43 AM

"Stop lying to yourself...after 2 seasons, you're not hate watching, you're just plain old watching. Congratulations on having really shitty taste and gobbling up the fresh shit they serve for y'all."

Nope, absolutely hate watching R18.

by Anonymousreply 30August 23, 2023 4:04 AM

And Just Like that , I still don’t give a 💩!

by Anonymousreply 31August 23, 2023 4:09 AM

He's fun to look at r25, but honestly, he needs to go. It's a stupid fake thing, and next season really needs to be about everybody stopping having stupid fake things and stupid fake love lives. This whole show right now is about wrong decisions carried out stupidly, and next season needs to be about acknowledging that.

I do think they are starting to get Che right, but it took long enough.

by Anonymousreply 32August 23, 2023 4:18 AM

I don't love it and will probably never rewatch it, but I'm not mad it's being renewed. I'd watch a season 3.

by Anonymousreply 33August 23, 2023 4:19 AM

I watch just so I can follow the DL threads. Not even joking. You bitches are ruthless and it cracks me up.

by Anonymousreply 34August 23, 2023 4:21 AM

I do agree with that r34. Without these threads, well, I might watch, but probably not. Certainly it wouldn't be nearly as fun, or really fun at all.

by Anonymousreply 35August 23, 2023 4:25 AM

R32, you're right, I know. Hopefully there'll be room for at least some eye candy, at any rate.

by Anonymousreply 36August 23, 2023 1:45 PM

I know I’ll be disappointed by whatever they do with Samantha tomorrow, but I’ll watch. Then I am done. It is trash.

by Anonymousreply 37August 23, 2023 2:11 PM

I enjoy the show but for the sake of going out on top I think season 2 would have been a good place to end it. Its the 25th anniversary, all the characters are in a pretty good place, the big dinner party in Carrie's apartment plus Samantha's return is a nice way to do a final farewell. I don't know what else there is to explore in season 3 and it will probably end things on a low note.

by Anonymousreply 38August 23, 2023 2:30 PM

[quote] for the sake of going out on top

I have no idea what this means.

by Anonymousreply 39August 23, 2023 4:38 PM

Aiden really took the adage "if you fall off the horse, get back on" to heart.

by Anonymousreply 40August 23, 2023 4:39 PM

R38: SJP and MPK time and time again have made it clear they don't give a shit about the show's legacy. Everything they've done post-2004 has been one gigantic cash grab. Plus the three hags get to stay in the spotlight because for better or worse a lot of people watch this new iteration.

by Anonymousreply 41August 23, 2023 6:35 PM

[quote]going out on top

OK, but I'm still keeping my bra on.

by Anonymousreply 42August 23, 2023 6:49 PM

If SJP needs cash so bad why doesn’t she try to get a job as the muse or “designer” for some downmarket retail bland beloved by her demo. Like H&M or American Eagle or something. I know she tried it with that store that went bankrupt in 2008, Steve and Barrys. That would be more dignified than playing 75 year old Carrie Bradshaw.

by Anonymousreply 43August 23, 2023 6:58 PM

R34, I follow the threads so I don't have to watch it.

by Anonymousreply 44August 23, 2023 7:20 PM

How many hot twenty-something "lov-ahs'" will be pursuing the ever desirable Carrie in Season three!

by Anonymousreply 45August 23, 2023 7:23 PM

Even the Guardian can’t stand Che (would link to it but DL doesn’t allow it).

Last bit of their review of season 2: “A third season has already been green-lit, so this intensely watchable car crash with elements of fun, gossipy nostalgia for a time before the real world inched towards a dystopia, will go on. Hopefully, the unbelievable romance between Anthony and his Italian twink boyfriend will not. The character I am most looking forward to seeing more of? Shoe, Carrie’s new kitten. May Shoe be blessed with a strong story arc, incredible outfits and all the luck in love.”

by Anonymousreply 46August 25, 2023 6:54 PM

[quote] OK, but I'm still keeping my bra on.

The bra came off in the finale actually R42

by Anonymousreply 47August 25, 2023 7:18 PM

I heard, though I fast forwarded through all the sex scenes. There is no one in the case attractive or interesting enough for me to sit through that.

by Anonymousreply 48August 25, 2023 7:23 PM

Cast, not case.

by Anonymousreply 49August 25, 2023 7:23 PM

I readily admit I hate watched Season 1 due to COVID. There was a brief attempt to watch Epsode1 of this season and, of course, the Sam cameo. Otherwise nope, just nope.

Another season of snark worthy material, I’m sure.

I’ll be watching and hoping there’s less screen time for Aidan and Che, and more for Giuseppe

by Anonymousreply 54November 16, 2023 2:10 PM

The hard part about this show is the first three or four episodes. After that the writing actually becomes much better. It was like that in season 1 and season 2. There was a point where the conversations, arguments, actually become more adult and less fantastical. And I have actually learned how to deal with certain situations in my life by watching it. I wish I could point to examples specifically. But the drama doesn't take the typical turn a lot of dramas would given the circumstances. People are called out for their mistakes but they aren't friendship ending scenarios. I like that aspect of it.

They gayness is over the top and very circa 1990s, and too much. A company like Anthony's would never ever exist in today's world. It's almost obscene how off it is and he has absolutely nothing else to do. A whole relationship hinging on the whether he will or won't bottom? That's what we're given? How about actually dealing with getting older as a gay man and being single, and alone, and moving past the stupid schtick. Why is he paired up with a 20 something whereas everyone else has age appropriate relationships? And the crazy thing is the producers basically live in a gay man's NYC world, and this is what they produced?

by Anonymousreply 55November 16, 2023 2:32 PM

People who complain about luxury just don't get the concept. Is an Hermes bag worth 12K on it's own merits? No. But that is not what you are paying for. Hermes is an almost 200 year old luxury leather manufacturer. The handbags are very limited production and difficult to get - very difficult, which makes them rare on the market. So when you are buying one you are buying into the legacy and the fact that what you purchased will go up in price because Hermes will never sell their name out.

Just think of it this way - if Naomi Campbell were to give three private modelling lessons a year, how much could she charge? The modelling lesson isn't worth 100k itself. But modelling lessons from a legend like her could easily go for that much. That is what the Birkin in the fashion world. It's not something for poor people, or middle class. It never was and there are plenty of rich people to support the business for whom spending $25k on a bag is like buying a pair of Nike sneakers for us.

The Birkin Himalayan - the white alligator bag is the most coveted. I had a client who had one. It takes about a year just one of these bags - between the months long dying and re-dying process, to the matching of skins perfectly sewn together. It's a couple hundred thousand dollars.

You could walk into an Hermes store with a million dollars in your pocket and still not get a Birken or a Kelly bag. You have to be in their system and you have to have shown that you have purchased from all areas of the brand, consistently - clothes, shoes, home goods, etc.. And after a certain point you are given the honor of being put on a waitlist for a Birkin - which cancels out after a year and you have to start again. The harder you make something and the more abusive you are, people go crazy for it.

They do not sell online, you can't buy one over the phone. You have to be physically present in the store. So you could be a millionaire in the middle of Oklahoma, but you have to drag your ass to the closest store to get one. They recently had a cleaning of house maybe five years ago where they fired half of their staff who were taking kickbacks from clients to get moved up in the line. I had friends who easily charged $3,000 for the access they had to them. That day is over though.

by Anonymousreply 56November 16, 2023 2:55 PM

R52 for some reason, Cynthia hates Kim Cattrall.

by Anonymousreply 57November 16, 2023 5:03 PM

[quote]Hermes will never sell their name out.

R56? I wouldn't bet my life on that.

by Anonymousreply 58November 16, 2023 7:55 PM

R58, they won’t. That’s why people buy them like investment pieces. Credit Suisse found they sometimes out perform gold increasing value at a rate of 38% annually.
