Indictment Special tonight at 7:00 PM with Rachel and the usual others.

by Anonymousreply 1August 24, 2023 6:27 PM

Ramaswamy is eating Andrea Mitchell's lunch and laughing in her face.

Who thought this would make for a worthwhile interview? You're losing me, MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 2August 29, 2023 4:46 PM

So, it looks like Stephanie Ruhle is corrupt and unethical.

Are there any more legacy children working at MSNBC?

by Anonymousreply 7September 22, 2023 11:30 PM

Does Chris Hayes not work Fridays now either?

by Anonymousreply 8September 23, 2023 1:03 AM

[quote]The DNC, which inundates my junk email account daily, is fundraising off of "Jennifer Rene Psaki", celebrating her move to prime time on Mondays, with an online poll and survey questions about her performance. Seemed a bit surprising as she's no longer in gov't.

She's probably going to be used as a media surrogate for a few campaigns during election season, so the DNC wants to poll how favorably she's viewed.

by Anonymousreply 9September 23, 2023 1:18 AM

Ok I’m here for 50!

by Anonymousreply 10September 23, 2023 1:23 AM

How nice for you, r10...how nice for us *all*.

by Anonymousreply 11September 23, 2023 1:37 AM

R9 I know she's still a bit of an up-start as a media personality, I wouldn't be surprised if they've had their eyes on her as a potential candidate in the future.

by Anonymousreply 12September 23, 2023 1:53 AM

Can't believe Alex Witt is on Stephanie Ruhle's Friday panel.

by Anonymousreply 13September 23, 2023 3:23 AM

R13: That was a pleasant surprise!

I was also happy with Jose Diaz-Balart's choosing Celia Cruz as his pick and announcing the news of a special collection Barbie doll and a quarter coin bearing her likeness to be issued next year.

Azucar!

by Anonymousreply 17September 23, 2023 11:22 AM

I was happy to see sexy Ayman filling in for Alex on Thursday night. What kind of cologne do we think he was wearing?

by Anonymousreply 18September 23, 2023 12:25 PM

Do we think Alicia Menendez will show up for work tonight?

by Anonymousreply 19September 23, 2023 1:25 PM

[quote]Do we think Alicia Menendez will show up for work tonight?

Chris Hayes, Alex Wagner, Rachel Maddow, Stephanie Ruhle hardly ever show up. Why should she?

by Anonymousreply 20September 23, 2023 1:55 PM

r18, the scent of old lamb fat.

by Anonymousreply 21September 23, 2023 2:21 PM

R20

YESS!!! Alex Wagner worked 1 day this week, so she is now on the Maddow schedule.

by Anonymousreply 22September 23, 2023 2:43 PM

R18 - whatever it is, I suspect it's too much.

by Anonymousreply 23September 23, 2023 2:45 PM

Ali Velshi in for Alicia.

[quote] For MSNBC fans here, there's an awful lot of you who seem to hate MSNBC.

Lurkers and trolls. Wingeing over who didn't show up for work.

by Anonymousreply 25September 23, 2023 10:08 PM

[quote]Does Chris Hayes not work Fridays now either?

He actually did the show on Monday -- his "last" Monday before Jen Psaki takes over the slot next week -- so perhaps he took off on this Friday because he'd already done his usual 4 days. He also had Psaki on his Monday show and mentioned that he could still be seen in the slot on Tuesdays through Fridays.

by Anonymousreply 26September 23, 2023 10:20 PM

Chris, Alex, and Lawrence were all off this Friday. Maybe their contracts stipulate they get the Autumnal Equinox off.

by Anonymousreply 27September 23, 2023 10:53 PM

Alex Wagner had terrible laryngitis on Tuesday night, could barely get through her show, so It was no surprise she didn't show up the rest of the week.

by Anonymousreply 28September 23, 2023 10:54 PM

Chris Hayes will be pushed out soon so Jen Psaki can take over 8pm five days a week.

by Anonymousreply 29September 24, 2023 1:39 AM

R29

Agreed, Chris Hayes is done st MSNBC.

He is no Rachel even if he pretends he is on her level.

by Anonymousreply 30September 24, 2023 5:20 AM

Not a Christian, Alex.

MSNBC pushes polls time and they all of a sudden are asking questions about Alex. Time to move to NBC Now?

by Anonymousreply 31September 24, 2023 8:35 AM

What happened to Katy Tur?

Maybe she and Alex can join Hallie Jackson at NBC News Now.

by Anonymousreply 32September 24, 2023 8:58 AM

Anyone else surprised (impressed?) that Cassidy is making her TV interview debut with Rachel as opposed to one of the prime time news shows like Dateline or 20/20 with Diane Sawyer? Of course, 15 years ago Barbara Walters would have been a no-brainer.

by Anonymousreply 33September 24, 2023 10:25 AM

On my guide this morning it’s showing Cassidy will be featured on this morning’s CBS Sunday Morning, so maybe Rachel won’t actually be the first interview? Or maybe Rachel’s will be the first LIVE interview. We shall see.

by Anonymousreply 34September 24, 2023 12:32 PM

I suspect Cassidy will be EVERYWHERE in the near future. Gotta sell that book.

by Anonymousreply 35September 24, 2023 2:19 PM

Rachel better not be easy on this girl.

Cassidy is still a Republican which means still a Trumper.

by Anonymousreply 36September 24, 2023 3:57 PM

I don't think Cassidy is the kind of woman that would let a celebrity shove his fingers into her pussy.

by Anonymousreply 37September 24, 2023 4:03 PM

Rachel should ask her… “if Giuliani raped you and you became pregnant, you agree that you should be forced to give birth?”

by Anonymousreply 38September 24, 2023 4:04 PM

Alicia Menendez must have been told she can’t anchor this weekend.

by Anonymousreply 39September 24, 2023 10:05 PM

I can't even imagine remaining civil and composed in public as Giuliani touches you and gives that cryptkeeper grin. Punch the creep and loudly berate him for the scumbag that he is.

by Anonymousreply 40September 24, 2023 10:07 PM

Mika copies what Joe says & puts her own spin on it.

by Anonymousreply 41September 25, 2023 10:30 AM

Except, r40, at that moment she wanted to keep her job.

by Anonymousreply 42September 25, 2023 3:35 PM

Yes, like the guy who let Matt Schlapp sniff his taint.

by Anonymousreply 43September 25, 2023 8:50 PM

R43 Not to mention, "pummeling his junk". If things go his way could be worth millions.

by Anonymousreply 44September 25, 2023 9:57 PM

I think Alicia Menendez will not be heard from again on MSNBC.

by Anonymousreply 45September 25, 2023 10:57 PM

Steve Schmidt is BONKERS, but in a good way.

by Anonymousreply 46September 25, 2023 11:15 PM

I agreed with that Charlie guy that Nicolle has on sometimes. He said the media needs to stop talking about Trump like he's a normal candidate.

by Anonymousreply 47September 25, 2023 11:20 PM

They would take Alicia Menendez off but keep Andrea Mitchell & Kristen Welker on ???

by Anonymousreply 48September 25, 2023 11:30 PM

[quote] I think Alicia Menendez will not be heard from again on MSNBC

Is that because she already knows the Egyptian government needs a new procurer? Oops! I mean, “consultant”?

by Anonymousreply 49September 25, 2023 11:32 PM

Maddow time.

by Anonymousreply 50September 26, 2023 1:08 AM

Mommy Nancy & Rachel all in 1 night!

by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2023 1:17 AM

The word that keeps coming to mind when I see Cassidy is...lovely.

by Anonymousreply 52September 26, 2023 1:32 AM

I don't know how Cassidy could have worked in that chamber of horrors.

by Anonymousreply 53September 26, 2023 1:50 AM

Jen Psaki likes to talk to people with her head on a slant. As she keeps talking, and gets more intense, her head twists just a bit more.

I’m worried that if she really went off on a monologue, her head might start to spin around like Linda Blair’s.

by Anonymousreply 54September 26, 2023 2:34 AM

Alicia is so screwed.

by Anonymousreply 55September 26, 2023 2:41 AM

I hope not, r55. I like her.

I had no idea she was Menendez' daughter until he was indicted this last time.

She shouldn't have to bear her Dad's cross.

by Anonymousreply 56September 26, 2023 3:00 AM

No, she shouldn't, r56.

by Anonymousreply 57September 26, 2023 3:04 AM

Based on her pre-show appearance with Jen, Rachel should consider the no-hairspray look fulltime. It was working for her.

by Anonymousreply 58September 26, 2023 3:41 AM

Joy Reid spent a considerable amount of time on her show bashing Senator Menendez and talking about what a garbage person he is…which is all true. It seems totally unfair to these other hosts to have to censor their own comments to avoid offending a fellow employee who happens to be his daughter. It’s just too awkward having Alicia working at this network with such a major story involving a family member.

by Anonymousreply 59September 26, 2023 4:46 AM

[QUOTE]Steve Schmidt is BONKERS, but in a good way.

The bonkers was realized internally at Lincoln Project by creators and colleagues who no longer retweet or quote tweet him in any way. He's on his own island on his Twitter account, unless I missed something recent.

Yes, I'm familiar with their internal turmoil with Weaver and Schmidt's admission to being a victim of childhood sexual abuse. But there must have been something more for such a cut-off.

by Anonymousreply 60September 26, 2023 5:04 AM

As an 11 year old I fully remember getting a chubby while watching Alexander Butterfield testify in the Watergate hearings. Even my dog took notice.

by Anonymousreply 61September 26, 2023 5:10 AM

R47 - Mika earlier this (Monday) morning basically said people need to stop interviewing Trump as if he were a normal candidate and treat his lies as lies and not allow him to continue on.

I presume that was a reference to Welker's interview.

by Anonymousreply 62September 26, 2023 5:39 AM

So how did Rachel do with Cassidy?

Out of the country so I missed the interview. I thought I'd come here this morning to lots of scathing remarks.

by Anonymousreply 63September 26, 2023 9:24 AM

I wish that Maddow hadn't spent 20 minutes reading aloud from Hutchinsn's book before actually interviewing her. I love Rachel, but she shouldn't be so in love with her own voice.

by Anonymousreply 64September 26, 2023 11:13 AM

R64, it appears that you like to be entertained rather than informed.

by Anonymousreply 65September 26, 2023 11:16 AM

Joe this morning again bragging about his success in politics. Has he ever talked about why he left office in the midst of such a glorious career? (And don't bring up the dead intern; I think that's been successfully debunked.).

by Anonymousreply 66September 26, 2023 11:20 AM

Joy looked great last night. Her stylist is on point.

by Anonymousreply 67September 26, 2023 12:24 PM

Ugh, Eddie "Blue Glasses/I Can't Vote For Hillary" Glaude on the MJ panel this morning. I guess it's time they read him again on Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 68September 26, 2023 12:25 PM

Not on Twitter. What did he say?

by Anonymousreply 69September 26, 2023 1:54 PM

Not at all, r65, I'd rather heart the story from the author herself, not through the host reading from her book.

by Anonymousreply 70September 26, 2023 2:02 PM

I'd always liked what Eddie Glaude had to say until I read about that 'I Can't Vote For Hillary' bullshit.

There are a whole lot of people that should publicly beg for forgiveness. He's one.

Can't find him being dragged on Twitter. Any hints as to where we can see some push-back on Glaude?

by Anonymousreply 71September 26, 2023 2:24 PM

^This Twitter link is from actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who read Eddie for filth and had a lot of people backing her up. He even responded at one point.

by Anonymousreply 72September 26, 2023 3:03 PM

Thank you, R72.

I'm pondering this tweet in the thread:

[quote]Man Flo @themanflo Aug 10

[quote]My opinion, we have to let it go and keep the focus on the immediate danger that is Trump. We need every soldier we can get, the fallen ones included. I think he's back on track and that's good enough for me. We can't fight each other, too much on the line. Eyes on the prize.

Worth considering?

He may be back on track but it seems he is attempting to erase his past. He blocks people that call him out. And he took his name off his Time Magazine article "My Democratic Problem With Voting for Hillary Clinton."

But there are many insufficiently repentant Republicans. Charlie Sykes is one. The MJ people. At least Tim Miller owns his actions.

I wonder if anyone has ever called out the MSNBC anchors for continuing to elevate him without putting his conversion into context?

by Anonymousreply 73September 26, 2023 3:49 PM

^Good questions. People have a problem with Nicolle always featuring him (Eddie) on her show given his problematic voting history. I have seen that he blocks people who call him out, and he has said on Twitter that he regrets not voting for Hillary, but I think he should not appear on these shows without at least addressing what he did and how he's trying to make up for it.

by Anonymousreply 74September 26, 2023 4:47 PM

Not trying to defend Eddie as I'm no fan either but how do you really know he hasn't been on an MSNBC show or 2 or 3 over the years and addressed his regrets? Do you watch Eddie 24/7?

by Anonymousreply 75September 26, 2023 4:49 PM

He might have, but I've never seen him admit on TV to not voting for Hillary. It's him and people like him who are partially responsible for the mess this country is currently in.

by Anonymousreply 76September 26, 2023 4:54 PM

I ADORE Steve Schmidt. He's so erudite and heartfelt, and I really missed him while he was away fixing his brokenness.

I'm loving Joy having him on her show these last few weeks. His podcast is worth the subscription. He reminds me of the old network stalwarts like Newman, David Brinkley, or Ralph Wiley who also did not suffer fools.

Plus my sister and I call him Nomi (my late Maine Coon) because he and SS have the same "Asperger-y" mien. That spectrum gaze. Kinda sweet and almost fragile.

by Anonymousreply 80September 26, 2023 5:49 PM

R70, so context is lost on you.

by Anonymousreply 81September 26, 2023 7:44 PM

WHERE IS NICOLLE????

by Anonymousreply 82September 26, 2023 8:01 PM

Must you yell, r82?

by Anonymousreply 83September 26, 2023 8:19 PM

R77 I like Steve, but always enjoyed when Brian Williams, as fellow Jersey boys, would tease him about his over-the-top Montecito trophy home. He genuinely looked embarrassed.

by Anonymousreply 84September 26, 2023 9:36 PM

Alex Wagner really going after Alicia’s dad tonight.

by Anonymousreply 85September 27, 2023 1:26 AM

Love Cassidy's charmeuse blouse.

by Anonymousreply 86September 27, 2023 2:07 AM

Nicolle Wallace interviews her tomorrow-Cassidy is doing the rounds!

by Anonymousreply 87September 27, 2023 2:10 AM

It will be interesting when Alicia returns: "And so, we can now all agree that Bob Menendez is a corrupt liar who is an embarrassment to his party and his constituents. He needs to resign immediately. And that's tonight's show. Now, it's time for The Last Word with Alicia Menendez, who's filling in tonight for Lawrence O'Donnell. Good evening, Alicia!"

by Anonymousreply 88September 27, 2023 2:14 AM

She's so screwed...

by Anonymousreply 89September 27, 2023 2:27 AM

And you know what sunk him? The optics of those gold bricks.

by Anonymousreply 90September 27, 2023 2:44 AM

I prefer Lawrence's interview with Cassidy Hutchinson much more than Rachel's.

by Anonymousreply 91September 27, 2023 2:50 AM

Different dynamics, r91. I'm just so struck every time by Cassidy's ...I dunno...grace under fire.

by Anonymousreply 92September 27, 2023 3:07 AM

Lawrence had Cassidy on the whole hour. He is an amazing interviewer. Better than Maddows.

by Anonymousreply 93September 27, 2023 3:15 AM

Does anyone else think Ari has a juicy hairy hole ?

by Anonymousreply 94September 27, 2023 4:26 AM

Your only post in the thread, r94?

by Anonymousreply 95September 27, 2023 4:44 AM

Joyce Vance initially unrecognizable on with Steph, giving a sassy behind-the-ear hair tuck. Momentarily thought it was the lopsided Betsy Woodruff Swan.

by Anonymousreply 96September 27, 2023 6:18 AM

Missed Lawrence's interview and gonna search for it. If anyone has a link in the meantime, I'd appreciate it. TIA!

Did he ask her why she's still a republican?

by Anonymousreply 97September 27, 2023 10:53 AM

Ari’s hole is definitely hairy, probably musky.

by Anonymousreply 98September 27, 2023 11:02 AM

Love Ari, love a hairy hole. For some reason have no interest in exploring his. I just get no sexual vibe from him whatsoever??

by Anonymousreply 99September 27, 2023 4:50 PM

Funny, I get total private perv vibes from him.

by Anonymousreply 100September 27, 2023 5:12 PM

Nicolle sounds like she has a cold.

by Anonymousreply 101September 27, 2023 8:02 PM

I was just going to post that she sounds congested, r101.

by Anonymousreply 102September 27, 2023 8:05 PM

It would be nice if whoever draws Professor Eddie Glaude, Jr.'s name in the MSNBC Secret Santa draw would gift him with a thesaurus. If not for stigmatized "day drinking," I would start a drinking game for every time he says "existential!"

Ack!!!

by Anonymousreply 103September 27, 2023 8:59 PM

Another word that comes up for me regarding Cassidy is...compelling. With every interview I'm glued to her words.

by Anonymousreply 104September 27, 2023 9:16 PM

[quote] I would start a drinking game for every time he says "existential!"

It's not just Eddie, though, who says this. "Existential" has become the word of the moment. Every crisis is now an "existential crisis." Every threat is an "existential threat."

by Anonymousreply 105September 27, 2023 10:04 PM

She has amazing poise for her age and lack of public appearance experience. Nicolle apologized for the tickle in her throat today; maybe she was out sick yesterday , but wasn't about to miss interviewing Cassidy.

by Anonymousreply 106September 27, 2023 10:08 PM

Nicolle, take the rest of the week off and get better. Ask Heilemann to cover you.

by Anonymousreply 107September 27, 2023 10:26 PM

Molly, could you lose the term *killing it*?

by Anonymousreply 108September 27, 2023 11:25 PM

Joy's panel was great tonight.

by Anonymousreply 109September 27, 2023 11:52 PM

Michael Steele should sit-in for Nicolle in her absence.

by Anonymousreply 110September 27, 2023 11:54 PM

Nicolle asked Cassidy if she would vote for Biden.

She is still a Trumper if she doesn’t vote for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 111September 28, 2023 1:12 AM

Maddow get hair spray and her black velvet blazer.

by Anonymousreply 112September 28, 2023 3:12 AM

What did she say?

by Anonymousreply 113September 28, 2023 4:08 AM

I think I know what it would take to get Chris' shoulders to finally fucking relax.

He looks so tense tonight! His shoulders are pretty much massaging his earlobes as if he was an angry crocodile.

Chris needs a thorough and intimate exploration and massage of his nether-regions. Hands, fingers, tongue... should any other tools be involved?

by Anonymousreply 114September 28, 2023 4:11 AM

[quote] Every crisis is now an "existential crisis." Every threat is an "existential threat."

I know, it's almost like it's uh, what's the word? Unprecedented !

by Anonymousreply 115September 28, 2023 4:27 AM

[quote] Ari’s hole is definitely hairy, probably musky.

I would agree. Thank you for your support.

*off to find the lube bottle*

by Anonymousreply 116September 28, 2023 4:30 AM

Two days ago, I got the impression Nicolle was working on her Elizabeth Holmes. Guess she's just ill.

by Anonymousreply 117September 28, 2023 4:31 AM

Joyce Vance had her Ring Light on at heat lamp level yesterday. I couldn’t even see her features; only eyes and mouth.

by Anonymousreply 118September 28, 2023 2:29 PM

Watching Reps Dan Goldman and Jared Moskovitz stand next to each other on MJ this morning is giving serious vibes of these two:

President Biden is making a really good speech about democracy.

by Anonymousreply 120September 28, 2023 7:34 PM

Yes, indeed, R120! It should be aired during network primetime.

by Anonymousreply 121September 28, 2023 7:41 PM

R120 I watched a couple hours of Fox recently. The hosts, guests, even a couple of less hard right commentators, everyone is selling the idea that Biden is senile. Flat out, accepted fact, certifiably senile. How do they get away with it?

And it's not like 90% of them would have a clue what to do in the job, or could handle his schedule. It's shameless.

by Anonymousreply 122September 29, 2023 9:03 AM

Mika is in Studio N-1 in DC. Joe is in New York. Tiday.

by Anonymousreply 123September 29, 2023 11:31 AM

Senator Chris Murphy 🔥🔥🔥

Did he get some botox?

by Anonymousreply 124September 29, 2023 11:49 AM

Katy Tur said today that she will be on at 11:00 PM Saturday night, right before the expected government shutdown.

by Anonymousreply 125September 29, 2023 9:28 PM

I'm loving the hot nerdy Ben Labolt, WH communications director on with Chris Hayes now. Checked his Insta and the 3 names I recognize of his followers: Phil Rucker, Chasten Buttigieg and Jeremy Peters. Hmmmmm........

by Anonymousreply 126September 30, 2023 12:27 AM

Colin Allred is one HAWT, HAWT man. He is the Trifecta.....gorgeous, articulate, and with the right politics. I want him to be MY daddy.

by Anonymousreply 127September 30, 2023 12:23 PM

Totally agree about red hawt Allred!

And he is our hope of defeating the execrable Ted Cruz. I mean, who wouldn't vote for Allred over that disgusting twat?

by Anonymousreply 128September 30, 2023 1:00 PM

R125, et. al

Have we spoken enough about Katy Tur? Ever since she had the second baby, she seems less interested in the gig.

And YES, the frau haircut is awkward! They don't have the hair & make up team helping her round out that 'do? It looks like she cut it herself!

by Anonymousreply 129September 30, 2023 2:06 PM

Love the perky, sassy chin cut.

by Anonymousreply 130September 30, 2023 8:16 PM

Will Alicia Menendez show up today?

by Anonymousreply 131September 30, 2023 8:24 PM

[quote]Katy Tur said today that she will be on at 11:00 PM Saturday night, right before the expected government shutdown.

Good, she can stay home now.

by Anonymousreply 132September 30, 2023 8:26 PM

Katy Tur seems chronically disgruntled and annoyed. She seems like the type who will have a meltdown on air and walk off the set permanently, a la Chris Matthews.

by Anonymousreply 133September 30, 2023 8:50 PM

Katy Tur needs to be fucked by her hot husband more and calm the fuck down.

Her career is in the crapper.

Her kids must be toddlers by now and driving her nuts.

by Anonymousreply 137September 30, 2023 10:14 PM

She’s also stepmom to her husband’s two children from a previous relationship. Four kids is enough to drive anyone crazy.

Alicia Menendez is a class act.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 150October 1, 2023 6:41 AM

She sure is. I felt pained for her, but she handled her speech well. It’s unfortunate that her father is a cocky lying scumbag, and guilty as fuck. She’ll be tormented by his corruption until the trial and subsequent conviction is over.

by Anonymousreply 151October 1, 2023 7:28 AM

Team Alicia.

Who else gets the feeling Alicia was probably against her father's new relationship from the get-go? That first introduction to the now-Mrs. Menendez had to arouse the suspicions of an adult daughter who knew her father's weaknesses and was trained as a journalist to uncover the truth.

Alicia's first words to her father when the second scandal broke? "I told you so!" (Followed by: "fool me once...")

by Anonymousreply 152October 1, 2023 8:58 AM

I can only hope the scandal raises Alicia's presence on MSNBC. She' one of the good ones.

by Anonymousreply 153October 1, 2023 12:47 PM

I was (pleasantly) surprised to see Alicia hosting her show this evening. I actually thought she might be off air for a while. Good for her.

It used to be that MTP with Chuck Turd rerun lead off the Monday schedule before Way Too Early With Smirky Lemire. Welker got the position for a couple of weeks but now the third rerun of Jen Psaki is the new week lead

Thank you Rashida. .

by Anonymousreply 157October 2, 2023 8:45 AM

Jen Psaki will obviously sub for Chrissy when he is on vacay, who is gonna sub for her?

by Anonymousreply 158October 2, 2023 9:43 AM

Rashida has to put someone marginally crappy in the the position making people scream for Jen to return...

Alina Habba should know better than to re-up her lip injections immediately before a high-profile event like the Trump trial. A week or two can make all the difference between fish face and duck lips.

I'm terrible. Seriously. I'm no better than a NASCAR watcher waiting only for a pile-up.

I'm waiting for this vote to oust or retain McCarthy to end so I can see if a physical fight breaks out.

Remember when somebody had to be physically restrained from Gaetz during the Speaker election?

by Anonymousreply 173October 3, 2023 8:22 PM

I think McCarthy is gone. All Democrats are voting to oust him, as well as some Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 174October 3, 2023 8:28 PM

Nicolle said that the McCarthy ouster has "destroyed" the Republican Party.

by Anonymousreply 177October 3, 2023 9:05 PM

All credit due to Hakeem Jeffries and his caucus.

by Anonymousreply 178October 3, 2023 9:13 PM

Well, actually McCarthy was just following Gaetz's orders (until he didn't) and Gaetz is following Dump's orders so.....you all know very well who "destroyed" the Republican party.

by Anonymousreply 192October 4, 2023 2:19 PM

R187, I was SO pissed off at both Rep. Swalwell and especially Michael Steele in their Reidout segment about McCarthy's ouster yesterday. Steele pushed back on Joy to the point of being rude and combative, and Swalwell for all his fiery interviews during the Trump years is now acting like a craven politician going along to get along.

This is EXACTLY why I don't trust ANY of those Republicans littering MSNBC, CNN, and the editorial sections of the press. And just this morning on MJ, Joe went gangster on Mika when she voiced support for K-Mac's ouster, and she didn't deserve any of that vitriol.

So-colled "Recovering Republicans" Nicolle, David Jolly, Jennifer Rubin, Bill Kristol, David Frum, John McWhorter, I'll forever side-eye you, too.

The only three reformed Republicans I have mad respect for are my beloved Steve Schmidt, Kurt Bardella, and Richard Painter (BTW, whatever happened to him? I never see him anymore), all of whom actually left the Republican Party AND joined the Democratic Party.

by Anonymousreply 194October 4, 2023 4:07 PM

^Yeah, I saw that, and I was a bit taken aback by the look on Michael’s face when Joy spoke about the gerrymandering in Fla. and NY that won the Repukes the slim House majority. I was screaming “IT’S TRUE!” at my tv screen.

by Anonymousreply 195October 4, 2023 4:48 PM

Barnicle's always bringing up the working class worried about how to feed a family or feeling safe on the subway. He's married to a very wealthy, powerful woman and probably hasn't been on a subway in decades.

by Anonymousreply 196October 4, 2023 4:56 PM

I loved when as Boston Brah's Lemire would good-naturedly taunt Barnicle, he wasn't having it, and would actually get hostile. Smirky's learned by now.

r194, I get so fucking tired of this 'the Democrats aren't getting the message out' bullshit spewed by Michael Steele and other "former" Republicans and unfortunately some of the "liberal" media. I truly belive most of America are paying attention to the Republican clown show and combine that with the Democratic leaders who are getting the message out and the work that Dems, especially President Biden, AGE BE DAMNED, are doing for the people will be remembered and awarded come 2024.

I'm now entering my Joy period for the first time, keeping an open mind, and so far have been pleasantly surprised/impressed.

by Anonymousreply 208October 6, 2023 5:57 AM

Sean Penn on with Lawrence, his body looks great, the skin on his face and neck as revealed in his Ukraine doc, is a wreck. Even compared to Chris Matthews 15 years his senior. You get the sense that contributing might be that he's still a chain smoker.

Who does Willie Guest’s makeup? a mortician? Jesus!

by Anonymousreply 210October 6, 2023 12:09 PM

WTF was going on with his hair dye?

by Anonymousreply 230October 6, 2023 11:48 PM

Eugene Daniels is HORRIBLE.

No fluidity of speech, never incisive, clever, or witty. And his Young Black Wolfman look ain't cute in any way.

From watching or hearing him I have never been inspired to read any of his columns, and as soon as a host calls his name I change the channel or find something else to do.

by Anonymousreply 231October 7, 2023 12:11 AM

I don't get all the hate for Eugene Daniels. Has he changed a great deal? In the past I've liked him and his contributions a great deal.

I'm not sure how different a brooch is from the ubiquitous flag pin; they're both performative. Though I have to admit, the nail polish look is asinine. Especially ruinous on a very attractive man.

Does Tim Miller ever get grief for his pearls?

by Anonymousreply 232October 7, 2023 12:20 PM

All those photos of Joy's wigs and hairdos in r221 are fun but I wanna go back to Joy's very first appearances around 2015 when she wore a very simple classic dull brown straightened auntie look with little makeup and school teacher's tops.

by Anonymousreply 264October 10, 2023 12:18 PM

One doesn't have to be registered as a Republican to advance Republican talking points in the way you frame and write about current events.

As Josh Marshall says about Washington DC, most news persons are wired for Republicans. (Mostly the males, but that's another discussion.)

For an astounding major example, consider how the NYT covered Hilary Clinton versus how they cover - or didn't/don't cover - DJT's various criminal actions. Consider even what gets printed above the fold vs what gets printed below the fold or somewhere buried in the A section.

Though that seems to be controlled by editors, it doesn't change the argument about the difference between coverage of Democrats vs coverage of Republicans.

Consider, for example, Clinton's emails versus DJT's spilling of nuclear secrets. Or more currently, what the NYT has to say, or doesn't say about DJT's discussing Israeli national security with the Russians. See if you can find an analysis of how those actions may have been a contributing factor in the current conflict.

Peter Baker and the like are in in for the clicks, and we all suffer for that.

by Anonymousreply 265October 10, 2023 12:23 PM

How far to the left must one be to think that Peter Baker is a man of the right?! I just read his (& his wife Susan Glasser’s) takedown of Trump, The Divider, & think it’s - so far - the most definitive book on Trump.

Maybe the women all have kids at home?

They also sent Vaughn Hillyard out to the Capitol that day, and he looked like a complete amateur. Yasmin did do a great job…she’s far better in the field or with breaking news than she is with a scheduled anchoring hour.

by Anonymousreply 337October 14, 2023 3:29 AM

Thanks r336!

r328

by Anonymousreply 338October 14, 2023 4:28 AM

Yasmin is from Iran & she has been on last/this weekend.

Mehdi hates Israel, so think that’s why he was taken-off. He is pre-empted tomorrow at his slot for special coverage.

Ayman & Ali have been on as guests this week, informative conversations from them.

by Anonymousreply 339October 14, 2023 6:39 PM

Someone should interview YV about Nixon and Kissinger and Savak.

by Anonymousreply 340October 14, 2023 6:58 PM

Ayman was at the Anchor Desk today.

Think that article was more for Mehdi who is anti-Israel & could not anchor in good faith. 2 weeks he has been shelved.

by Anonymousreply 341October 14, 2023 11:17 PM

Ali & Ayman have been on air, it’s Mehdi who has been eliminated.

Tells you something abt how no one trusts him to anchor fairly in time of war.

by Anonymousreply 342October 14, 2023 11:19 PM

If Brian Williams were still at MSNBC, the would be in charge of anchoring the network's coverage of the conflict. His role was to be the breaking news anchor and the veteran journalist. Since Brian left (retired?), MSNBC doesn't really have anyone in that role, and it hurts the network. Anchors like Ayman and Yasmin and Lindsey Reiser are good, but they don't have the gravitas of someone like Brian Williams.

by Anonymousreply 343October 15, 2023 1:37 AM

Brian Williams' gravitas is all in your head, r343. Sure, he was older than all of them if that gives you something to admire, but wiser? I don't now about that.

by Anonymousreply 346October 15, 2023 2:21 AM

[quote] I wouldn't be surprised if some of the top reporters are seen on weekends in the future.

If Rachel Maddow is still supposed to be the main voice of MSNBC and the network's top anchor, she should be pulling extra shifts and coming in to anchor on weekends during a news event like this one, instead of making the "junior varsity" team of people like Ayman, Yasmin and Jose Diaz Balart do double or triple duty.

by Anonymousreply 347October 15, 2023 3:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 352October 15, 2023 12:27 PM

Ayman anchored last night, Ali Velshi today.

Both have been reporting from field/guest in studio as expert of the region all week on primetime shows.

Someone of the 3 seems to be missing from the equation 👀 wonder why!!!

by Anonymousreply 353October 15, 2023 1:11 PM

[quote]If Rachel Maddow is still supposed to be the main voice of MSNBC and the network's top anchor,

Rachel Maddow is in no way a “news anchor”. She’s a political pundit whose role is to give political commentary and opinion. Ditto for Nicolle Wallace.

by Anonymousreply 354October 15, 2023 4:12 PM

Ayman and Ali have the most in-depth knowledge of the Middle East on this network. That’s why they’re the two “go-to’s” during this conflict.

by Anonymousreply 355October 15, 2023 4:15 PM

Jen Psaki did extra time today. More of her is never a bad thing, in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 356October 15, 2023 6:42 PM

[quote] Rachel Maddow is in no way a “news anchor”. She’s a political pundit whose role is to give political commentary and opinion. Ditto for Nicolle Wallace.

MSNBC has an abundance of pundits, commentators, and contributors, and a dearth of news anchors. When breaking news happens that isn't directly related to Trump, Biden, or Congress, their go-to solution is to have Ali Velshi work 18-hour days. Ali is indispensable, but his salary is probably a tiny fraction of what the prime-time commentators make.

by Anonymousreply 357October 15, 2023 6:45 PM

I’d rather have Ali Velshi than listen to Rachel Maddow visibly irritated that she had to “throw away” her pre-planned show about Trump in order to cover breaking news that happened during her hour.

So sick of hearing GOP politicians try to blame the Congressional debacle on Democrats. When will newscasters finally call them out on their blatant hypocrisy?

If Nancy Pelosi was prevented from retaking the gavel by a few Democratic votes, we're expected to believe Republicans would step up to help her out. Like fucking hell they would.

by Anonymousreply 434October 20, 2023 4:43 AM

Republicans may be forced to return to Earth 1.

by Anonymousreply 435October 20, 2023 6:55 AM

Is Nicolle happy she gets to talk about DUMP again?

by Anonymousreply 436October 20, 2023 11:42 AM

Yikes! Steve K truly is losing too much weight. His chinos are hanging on him.

by Anonymousreply 439October 20, 2023 2:04 PM

LOL R439, I came here just to comment that Kornacki's pants look good on him. I wasn't sure if he found a different brand/style or just sized these better. He didn't seem thinner at all to me.

Watching him jump the gun during the roll call for the third ballot makes me think he would be a bit of a accidental creampie guy. But I'm sure he'd make up for it by the fourth or fifth round.

Wow! Raf Sanchez has prime BDF.

Where's he been all my life?

by Anonymousreply 442October 20, 2023 7:08 PM

Sadly, the longer I listen to him report from Israel, the more Raf sounds like a whiny, lazy bottom.

by Anonymousreply 443October 20, 2023 7:21 PM

[quote] Where's he been all my life?

He had a much more fulsome healthy-looking BDF when reporting from Moscow at the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

by Anonymousreply 444October 20, 2023 9:04 PM

I used to think Raf Sanchez seemed cold and aloof. But then I saw this cute video he posted when a viewer complained about his sad-looking spider plant, and now I think he's adorable. Hope he stays safe reporting from the Mideast.

by Anonymousreply 449October 20, 2023 11:15 PM

She says Cheese Bo Ro.

Where was she broadcasting from today?

Some beer barrel?

by Anonymousreply 450October 21, 2023 12:04 AM

Nicolle Wallace said "Cheese-Bro" yesterday and "Chez-Bro" today. Did his name change overnight?

The children, the CHILDREN !

Tedious .

by Anonymousreply 455October 21, 2023 6:48 AM

^I have lowered my opinion of her for this.

by Anonymousreply 456October 21, 2023 6:55 AM

I like Steph but think of her as a placeholder until they find the right person/solution for that slot. Since she's good friends with David Gura, why not experiment, have the two host together? Mgmt always seems so afraid to tweak the format, while Fox runs away with ratings for their dumbass panel shows. Steph's Friday night group discussions may be a step in the right direction.

by Anonymousreply 457October 21, 2023 7:43 AM

David Gura and his doughnut plate would definitely get me to stay up and watch that 11th hour. I think he'd be fabulous with Steph.

by Anonymousreply 458October 21, 2023 1:39 PM

Would David Gura come back to MSNBC? Didn't MSNBC basically fire him before (i.e., not renew his contract)?

How about pairing Stephanie with Ali Velshi? They used to anchor together in the mornings.

by Anonymousreply 459October 21, 2023 3:09 PM

Stephanie also cried over Jussie Smollet’s “attack”.

I dont think there is any dilution at all, if you listen to him he's quit clear and to the point with laser sharpness. He's passionate about what he believes and in his delivery, that does not make him hyperbolic it makes him interesting and believable.

He's like a breath of fresh air from the restrained progressive on that network. He says things they want to say but cannot for fear of losing their high paying jobs.

by Anonymousreply 481October 23, 2023 2:28 PM

I'm a full-fledged Democrat but I'm so tired of the Dem Congressmen/women coming on the shows and refusing to answer simple questions like: Would you support Patrick McHenry if he's made Speaker? Simple Yes or No answer and they seem to be afraid of going there. Congresswomen Clark from Mass just did this with Jen Psaki. Instead of answering, she went on for what felt like 15 minutes about all the good things Dems are doing. I was mad at Jen for not forcing a direct answer out of her.

by Anonymousreply 482October 24, 2023 12:20 AM

r482, your question is simplistic. Politicians and supreme court nominees do not answer hypotheticals for the simple reason that simple answers can show up as latent gotchas. Why would you want to be locked into a vote. Dumb question. You will find out when they vote. But because Jen has an hour to fill, she asks KNOWING that she is going to get a cloaked, I don't know at this time, which would lead to another question.

by Anonymousreply 483October 24, 2023 12:27 AM

I resent your condescension, r483 and I would have appreciated the Congresswoman simply saying she didn't know enough about McHenry's policies if she didn't want to answer the question. Which would have been a perfectly reasonable and intelligent response. Instead we got a lot of preening blather that didn't even approach the question. Why guest on the show if she doesn't want to answer simple questions, even with a prepared response? Stop wasting time and space.

And, once again, I resented Jen Psaki not saying" "Hey, you didn't answer my question!" She was far more direct and effective in her WH press conferences,

I don't see anything "simplistic" in my expectations.

by Anonymousreply 484October 24, 2023 1:06 AM

Maddow's in L.A.

by Anonymousreply 485October 24, 2023 1:08 AM

[quote]I don't see anything "simplistic" in my expectations.

[quote]I would have appreciated the Congresswoman simply saying she didn't know enough about McHenry's policies if she didn't want to answer the question. Which would have been a perfectly reasonable and intelligent response.

Getting a Congress person to admit they didn't know something is pretty stupid.

She answered the question by pointing out how functional the Democrats are.

by Anonymousreply 487October 24, 2023 1:12 AM

Are you not curious what a Dem congressperson thinks of Patrick McHenry as a Speaker option, r487?

by Anonymousreply 488October 24, 2023 1:15 AM

[quote]and I would have appreciated the Congresswoman simply saying she didn't know enough about McHenry's policies if she didn't want to answer the question.

You would have preferred she lied, r484?

by Anonymousreply 489October 24, 2023 1:17 AM

I would have preferred Clark didn't appear on the show if she wasn't willing and prepared to answer simple and direct questions. Why waste viewers' time?

And, if you believe that Jen Psaki knew she wasn't going to get an answer to her question, which r483 seems to imply, I would prefer Psaki not ask those kinds of questions. Pretty simple, I think.

by Anonymousreply 490October 24, 2023 1:58 AM

Why does everyone on MSNBC kiss Rachel Maddow’s ass?

by Anonymousreply 491October 24, 2023 2:02 AM

You do you, r490, but I watched it as well and understood why she answered the way she did. I didn't have a problem with it.

by Anonymousreply 492October 24, 2023 2:03 AM

I am also genuinely curious what Dems think of McHenry taking over as Speaker. I would really appreciate an honest and frank discussion about that as it's more than likely a possibility.

by Anonymousreply 493October 24, 2023 2:11 AM

OK, this is what she told me in private away from the public glare:

Democrats do not negotiate with terrorists.

by Anonymousreply 494October 24, 2023 2:50 AM

Richard Engel looking very old and tired, what happened to his face? He was so handsome when he started out there. by Anonymousreply 496October 24, 2023 11:04 AM

Yep, I have been noticing that too R513. Mika looks like she's had even more work done, it's pulled so tight she's starting to look freakish. She's falling into that same trap so many rich women fall into. They have the money so why not fix everything with plastic surgery. Only they are never quite done. It almost becomes a mask of who they are.

I have a theory that it's a modern day version of foot binding. Everyone can tell it's not natural and when they meet with their other friends they compliment each other on how good it looks, it's more of a sign of wealth. The wealth ladies in the room all have "the mask".

She seems to be more inclined to hire a Bowen Yang than an Anderson Cooper.

by Anonymousreply 529October 25, 2023 9:12 PM

Ah yes, of course Rashida's idea of a gay man is a Yasss Queen.

Can't hire a normal looking openly gay white guy that does not lisp. That would be too scary. Must be a a fem so all the viewers KNOW he's gay and woman feel comfortable around him and straight men don't pissed off when they identify with him and find out later he's gay. It's easy to write off a Yass Queen, not so easy when they look and sound like other straight male reporters on TV.

Tim Miller, Steve Kornacki, & Vaughn Hillyard all work at MSNBC. Also what's his face? DL fave who always had a lovely background from his DC home. We haven't seen him in a while.

by Anonymousreply 550October 26, 2023 2:24 AM

by Anonymousreply 557October 26, 2023 4:59 AM

Ari Melber is one of the best interviewers on MSNBC. He takes no crap and could teach some actual MSNBC journalists how to actually do the follow up and push back.

by Anonymousreply 558October 26, 2023 5:12 AM

Eh, Ari’s good but I feel he gives people too much leeway a lot of the time, and he plays devil’s advocate more than I would like.

by Anonymousreply 559October 26, 2023 5:20 AM

r559, he wants to be the ONE MSNBC presenter that has miserable Republican shit stains actually return to a liberal network.

I would like to see him interview Southern Baptist Theocrat, Mike Johnson.

by Anonymousreply 560October 26, 2023 5:29 AM

Ari is very smooth at coming across as simple and friendly nonthreatening interviewer and then somehow always manages to pull out some important fact or statement that ends up being very critical to subject at hand. I imagine this is how he schmoozes a woman into bed with him. They wake up and say wait, what, how did we go from a simple coffee date to waking up in his bed?

He was class president in high school, so he knows how to charm people enough to get what he wants. Having a beautiful smile doesn't hurt either.

by Anonymousreply 561October 26, 2023 5:30 AM

You have no idea, R556.

P.S. Your incoherence earned you an Oh, Dear.

by Anonymousreply 562October 26, 2023 5:57 AM

He is not a breaking news host. He is barely capable when heavily scripted.

by Anonymousreply 563October 26, 2023 6:10 AM

Grrrl, you in trubble.

I’ve lately been watching the NBC News Now stream rather than MSNBC. Particularly for breaking news events.

Too many old, retired “expert” talking heads speculating on Zoom for segments at a time over on MSNBC. — Particularly Andrea’s ancient buddies during her hour.

News Now checks in with actual reporters in the field far more frequently.

Alex Wagner is really not very good.

She was struggling last night and is just reading the teleprompter tonight.

Annie Karni is a disgusting mess!

by Anonymousreply 572October 27, 2023 1:48 AM

I think they told her that the Black Gay guy wasn't coming in AT THE LAST MOMENT.

Everyone was simply letting local reporters and police ramble on, as there is no playbook for this.

[quote] He is not a breaking news host.

Now, tonight, Jonathan Capehart has to handle the breaking news about the U.S. airstrikes in Syria. Since Brian Williams left, MSNBC doesn't have any evening news anchors, just commentators and pundits. I'll bet that when WWIII breaks out, it will happen during Joy Reid's shift.

r576, but you have to have a hat to hang, no?

by Anonymousreply 577October 27, 2023 3:44 AM

R571 I don't know, Akex seemed her normal ultra-competent self. Her guest interviews were crisp and clearly not scripted.

I love Annie Karni. To me, she always looks like she just had sex.

New Speaker of the House thinks mass shootings are the result of Woodstock, and teaching kids that they evolved from "primordial slime".

Can you imagine if it were to happen during Andrea Mitchell's shift?

She'd be sputtering so much. the world would come to an end by the time she got the words out.

She’ll have to change wigs mid-shift.
