He was really terrific playing Jonathan Larson in TICK-TICK-BOOM. (A weird project. Much acclaimed then almost immediately forgotten.) Garfield did the miniseries of the famous book, UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN about LDS fundies. I don't recall hearing anything about it, and no one I know watched it.

I'm not his biggest fan but I admire the way he picks projects he believes in.

And yes, he's definitely had cosmetic work done over the years, "normalizing" the goofier features on his face. So has Ryan Gosling. And Jake G. And Bradley C. And almost any 40-something actor I can think of.

R16 I think that probably explains why I find his change so striking, Andrew Garfield was interesting and IMO very beautiful because he was not “perfect”, the jaw uneven, the nose ethnic.

If Andrew Garfield had come to Hollywood with his current jaw and nose, I don’t think he would have become very famous. Or he would have Ben Barnes’s career.

R21, I watched Under the Banner of Heaven. I probably would have given up after an episode or two had anyone but Andrew been the star. Since he played a detective investigating a murder, nearly everyone his character engaged with had more dialogue. Not recommended unless, like me, you have to see everything Andrew is in.

His hairline has definitely been altered. He was clearly starting to have widow's peak in the earlier photo, but now his hairline has become eerily straight and square.

Otherwise I honestly don't see changes that cannot be explained due to getting older and becoming a bit beefier and better built.

He looks great. He's definitely had work done but it's subtle and high quality, a million miles from Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Like R21 said, he's smoothed out his more unusual features to push him from goofy to striking looking. The only major work he's had is his hair, he was definiely balding/receding a few years ago.

The hairline is different, and the nose has a smaller tip. He may have had jaw implants, but that is less obvious to me. Has Lori Hill done a video on him yet? She never misses a thing.

The tip of his nose is definitely smaller which raises it up some. We have all seen men who start out looking like a young Andrew Garfield and what they look like now. They don't end up looking like he does now without plastic surgery. He had his nose done. And it looks like some fillers to at least raise his cheekbones. Look at the apples of his cheeks in the before pic compared to where they are now. If he hadn't done thing that would be more sunken, instead of high. And one doctor suggest that he didn't necessarily have a hair transplant, just very early preventive measures with medications to stabilize, prevent loss and regrow.

It is really good and subtle work and I am sure it was done gradually and tastefully. But for me, someone who hasn't really looked at Andrew Garfield in years, he doesn't look like the same person.

R53 His nose is at least different. The tip of his nose was lower and more bulbous - and not just as seen in the pictures above, but if you compare most older vs. recent pictures. The tip of his nose in older photos points downward compared to straight out in recent photos.

It's a huge improvement.
