He may have been an asshole, but he wasn't the kind of outrageous, quotable, world-class asshole like Lauren Bacall, the that the eldergays both loathe and envy.

Actually, Jerome Robbins was more hated than Lauren Bacall.

Bacall could be imperious and despicable in the moment, but Robbins did genuien damage to people's lives: he sold out so many people to HUAC, resulting in multiple blacklistings.
