Grandson of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, says ‘we’re in the final chapter’ in health update
"...the grandson of the former president told People it’s “gotta be hard” for Jimmy Carter to see his wife lose some of her memories, he noted that “they’ve experienced everything that you can together. I think the beautiful thing is that they are still together.
“They are still holding hands … it’s just amazing,” Josh Carter added..."

I predict when one dies the other will follow.

R1 Yes, at some point they both will die, that is correct.

Should we start a betting pool of which one dies first and when?

I don't know. I think they may just have a season on DWTS left in them!

Remember the good old days when presidents acted presidential, instead of a drunksn, psychotic frat boy.

From Jimmy Carter to Donald Trump. The handwriting was on the wall when a good man like Carter lost in a landslide to Reagan.

I know it sounds crass, but…
Jimmy Carter lived a long life and did what he could to make a positive impact on the world. He’ll be greatly missed.
However, as a federal employee, I welcome the day of his funeral as a paid holiday.

I hope they go close together.
I don't really believe in an afterlife, but I don't want the surviving one to be without the other for too long.

It's a shame he wont make it to see Trump jailed for life in the not-so-far-off (but still overdue) future, but I hope he makes it long enough to see the mugshot they're going to take of him in Georgia and find out his true weight/height.

R10, do the Post Offices stay open or will they be closed (when a POTUS dies)?
Nice that you get a day off.

Watching a 2013 C-SPAN interview with Rosalynn, broadcast this weekend, in which she was asked if there was a sorority among First Ladies. No, she said, she was only close to Betty Ford & Lady Bird Johnson.

I couldn’t tell from the statement if it was more of confirming what we already knew a few months ago, that they were both comfortable at home and no longer receiving medical treatments, or that the end is expected in a few days?

If Jimmy holds on for just a few more weeks, he'll make his 99th birthday.

They're both such class acts. Has Trump not tweeted anything derogatory yet? It feels so marginalizing if he hasn't.

Ugh, R25. But thanks for updating; I've not watched or read news today.
It's like my Dad; he'll be 96 come January, but I just can't face the inevitable truth that he's likely leaving us in the next few years (I REFUSE to think in terms of months or weeks). He's like a non-famous Jimmy Carter: a thoroughly decent man who did amazing things in his life, the effects of which are still felt every single day for people he may or may not have known, but all of which made him MORE humble, not less. Just like my late Mom.
I know my Dad misses my Mom all day, every day, but oh, what a void he will leave in our world when he goes.

This is very sad news but not unexpected they both lived a long and fulfilling life may God bless them!
I picture in my mind Miss Lillian and Billy welcoming them to the Pearly Gates! There will be a barbecue with unlimited cornbread and banana pudding ! Roy Clark and Buck. Owens will be "picking and grinning" and providing entertainment.

In 1979, President Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the roof of the White House.
Amid an energy crisis, Carter hoped to reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil.
President Ronald Reagan removed the solar panels in 1986.
