Grandson of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, says ‘we’re in the final chapter’ in health update

"...the grandson of the former president told People it’s “gotta be hard” for Jimmy Carter to see his wife lose some of her memories, he noted that “they’ve experienced everything that you can together. I think the beautiful thing is that they are still together.

“They are still holding hands … it’s just amazing,” Josh Carter added..."

I predict when one dies the other will follow.

by Anonymousreply 1August 19, 2023 11:59 PM

Awww I wish them nothing but happiness until they are finally at peace.

by Anonymousreply 2August 20, 2023 12:00 AM

R1 Yes, at some point they both will die, that is correct.

by Anonymousreply 3August 20, 2023 12:01 AM

Should we start a betting pool of which one dies first and when?

by Anonymousreply 4August 20, 2023 12:02 AM

I don't know. I think they may just have a season on DWTS left in them!

by Anonymousreply 5August 20, 2023 12:06 AM

A class act

by Anonymousreply 6August 20, 2023 12:07 AM

God bless

by Anonymousreply 7August 20, 2023 12:08 AM

Remember the good old days when presidents acted presidential, instead of a drunksn, psychotic frat boy.

by Anonymousreply 8August 20, 2023 12:10 AM

From Jimmy Carter to Donald Trump. The handwriting was on the wall when a good man like Carter lost in a landslide to Reagan.

by Anonymousreply 9August 20, 2023 12:15 AM

I know it sounds crass, but…

Jimmy Carter lived a long life and did what he could to make a positive impact on the world. He’ll be greatly missed.

However, as a federal employee, I welcome the day of his funeral as a paid holiday.

by Anonymousreply 10August 20, 2023 12:17 AM

I hope they go close together.

I don't really believe in an afterlife, but I don't want the surviving one to be without the other for too long.

by Anonymousreply 11August 20, 2023 12:27 AM

It's a shame he wont make it to see Trump jailed for life in the not-so-far-off (but still overdue) future, but I hope he makes it long enough to see the mugshot they're going to take of him in Georgia and find out his true weight/height.

by Anonymousreply 12August 20, 2023 12:40 AM

[quote] However, as a federal employee, I welcome the day of his funeral as a paid holiday.

R10, do the Post Offices stay open or will they be closed (when a POTUS dies)?

Nice that you get a day off.

Watching a 2013 C-SPAN interview with Rosalynn, broadcast this weekend, in which she was asked if there was a sorority among First Ladies. No, she said, she was only close to Betty Ford & Lady Bird Johnson.

by Anonymousreply 14August 20, 2023 11:44 PM

I couldn’t tell from the statement if it was more of confirming what we already knew a few months ago, that they were both comfortable at home and no longer receiving medical treatments, or that the end is expected in a few days?

by Anonymousreply 15August 21, 2023 3:08 AM

If Jimmy holds on for just a few more weeks, he'll make his 99th birthday.

by Anonymousreply 16September 5, 2023 2:35 AM

Damn Republicans messing everything up with Reagan. He was too good for people to recognize then.

by Anonymousreply 17September 5, 2023 2:43 AM

I'm going down to help out. Dementia is a red robin kettle high tide. Poor Johnny.

by Anonymousreply 18September 5, 2023 2:43 AM

They're still holding hands, but are they fucking? This is what happens when you tie yourself down with one guy.

by Anonymousreply 19September 5, 2023 2:47 AM

Oh for god’s sake just die!

R4 you mean the DL hasn't done that yet?

by Anonymousreply 21September 5, 2023 3:20 AM

I wonder if dementia means Rosalyn wouldn't know what she's missing if he goes first?

The final chapter is far different from the last paragraph or last sentence.

by Anonymousreply 23October 7, 2023 4:03 PM

They're both such class acts. Has Trump not tweeted anything derogatory yet? It feels so marginalizing if he hasn't.

by Anonymousreply 24October 7, 2023 4:10 PM

Sad update.

God bless 'em.

by Anonymousreply 26November 17, 2023 11:33 PM

Don't leave us, Jimmy and Roz!

by Anonymousreply 27November 17, 2023 11:39 PM

He will probably outlive me

by Anonymousreply 28November 18, 2023 12:01 AM

Ugh, R25. But thanks for updating; I've not watched or read news today.

It's like my Dad; he'll be 96 come January, but I just can't face the inevitable truth that he's likely leaving us in the next few years (I REFUSE to think in terms of months or weeks). He's like a non-famous Jimmy Carter: a thoroughly decent man who did amazing things in his life, the effects of which are still felt every single day for people he may or may not have known, but all of which made him MORE humble, not less. Just like my late Mom.

I know my Dad misses my Mom all day, every day, but oh, what a void he will leave in our world when he goes.

by Anonymousreply 29November 18, 2023 12:13 AM

This is very sad news but not unexpected they both lived a long and fulfilling life may God bless them!

I picture in my mind Miss Lillian and Billy welcoming them to the Pearly Gates! There will be a barbecue with unlimited cornbread and banana pudding ! Roy Clark and Buck. Owens will be "picking and grinning" and providing entertainment.

by Anonymousreply 30November 18, 2023 12:29 AM

R25, I saw that picture on another website today. I was shocked by Jimmy’s decline.

by Anonymousreply 31November 18, 2023 12:35 AM

Jesus, please just kill me before I get to be that old.

by Anonymousreply 32November 18, 2023 12:38 AM

Don't forget me, R30!

by Anonymousreply 35May 14, 2024 11:03 PM

Does he still play tennis?

by Anonymousreply 36May 14, 2024 11:07 PM

He’ll outlive us all or at least make it to October.

by Anonymousreply 37May 14, 2024 11:07 PM

I don't want President Carter to go.

by Anonymousreply 38May 14, 2024 11:11 PM

In 1979, President Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the roof of the White House.

Amid an energy crisis, Carter hoped to reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil.

President Ronald Reagan removed the solar panels in 1986.

I really want him to hit 100, but not if he’s in pain or trapped in a state of confusion and fear.

That contrarian magat bullshit goes way back.
