Desperate housewives (2004-2012)
Let's talk about Desperate Housewives. What a great show depicting how "boring" suburban life can be. The series ran for eight seasons and starred four very talented women.
Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria are at their best.
Plus a revolving door of talented cast members: Nicolette Sheridan, Steven Culp, Ricardo Antonio Chavira, Doug Savant, Mark Moses, James Denton, Andrea Bowen, Shawn Pyform, Jesse Metcalfe, Cody Kasch, Joy Lauren, Brent and Shane Kinsmen, Zane Huett, Christine Eastbrook, Harriett Hanson Harris, Kathryn Joosten, Roger Bart, Richard Burgi, Alfre Woodard, Mecah Brooks, Kyle MacLachlan, Dana Delaney, Lee Rahm, Tuc Watkins, Neal McDonough, Drea de Matteo, Jeffrey Nordling, Vanessa Williams, Charles Measure, and the incomparable voice of BRENDA STRONG as Mary Alice.

Love this show, however it went on too long. On my rewatches, I only watch Season 1-4. The Season 4 ending with the time jump is perfect to end the show.

Love Teri Hatcher as an actress, but Susan got on my nerves

Susan started strong but soon all the other housewives became much more interesting than her and of picture largely irritating.
Marcia should have won the Emmy for S1 and Felicity for S3 "Bang". Eva became much stronger as the show progressed
It was a mistake to kill Edie off as she was a brilliant character and antagonist for the other women. It was great to see Vanessa Williams but Cherry gave her next-to-nothing to do.
S7 had some good episodes and S8 had the odd good moment but they were really weak in comparison. S2 felt flung together in a hurry after the perfect approach to S1 which is one of the best seasons of TV I've seen. Someone on here described it as a terrific novel brought to life over 23 episodes.

R4 I agree.
S1 is a novel brought to life. It has great storylines with three dimensional characters.
S2 has some great moments, Bree's struggle with alcoholism comes to mind.

R5 yes they did nicely with Bree's alcoholism throughout the season and her battles with Andrew who was at his worst.
S2 seriously underused Alfre Woodard but she had some good moments with Marcia. The central mystery sucked.
I also liked Gabi's battles with the Nun over Carlos.

It started out good but went off the rails. Seems like the storyline from S1 was dropped? The husband and son of the dead woman just kind of disappear and I thought it was implied her husband was up to something? I can barely remember now.

Love how Sharon Lawrence was an uptight Type A helicopter mom housewife who was moonlighting as a prostitute. Her being arrested lingerie and then trying to run away before falling and being carried by five cops while the entire neighborhood is watching is one of the funniest things of television.

R8 the season one mystery was resolved so they had a new one each season thereafter. I thought the season 3 mystery of whether Orson was a psycho murderer started out well but flattened out too soon, partly due to Marcia having to go on maternity leave so soon.
Most of the other mysteries weren't so good.

Dixie Carter was perfect as Kyle MacLachlan's emotionally abusive mother.

Don't forget Lesley Ann Warren as Teri Hatcher's mother,

It's like Heroes. First season was perfection. Second season OK. Then it sucked.

I preferred the Sumerian version, "Desperate Farmwives."
