I've read that there are only 300 posters on DL at any given time.

Really?

by Anonymousreply 46August 3, 2023 12:46 AM

Are there that many?

by Anonymousreply 1August 2, 2023 4:05 AM

Doubtful

by Anonymousreply 2August 2, 2023 4:05 AM

Which part, R2?

by Anonymousreply 3August 2, 2023 4:06 AM

Where did you read this — a NYT profile?

by Anonymousreply 4August 2, 2023 4:07 AM

NYT writing about DL, R4? Oh, my sides!

by Anonymousreply 5August 2, 2023 4:08 AM

I think it’s more like 30 and often seems like three.

by Anonymousreply 6August 2, 2023 4:08 AM

Just the one, dear?

by Anonymousreply 7August 2, 2023 4:09 AM

Not 300--3,000,000!

by Anonymousreply 8August 2, 2023 4:09 AM

No, but they all weigh 300 pounds.

by Anonymousreply 9August 2, 2023 4:15 AM

And they're all "Hang in There" kitty posters in Muriel's office.

Let’s count off. One!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 11August 2, 2023 4:24 AM

r10 She needs them to cover all the holes she's punched through the walls when in a drunken rage.

by Anonymousreply 12August 2, 2023 4:25 AM

Does that include the voices in certain poster’s heads?

by Anonymousreply 13August 2, 2023 4:37 AM

It can't be done R11. Many posters have admitted they have multiple accounts for trolling. Multiple authenticated accounts and multiple anonymous accounts.

by Anonymousreply 14August 2, 2023 4:43 AM

What R14 said. Recently there was that one thread started by a troll (LL) that ended up going into a part 2 thread and I would bet a large portion of the posters were the same person.

by Anonymousreply 15August 2, 2023 5:19 AM

Two!!

by Anonymousreply 16August 2, 2023 5:48 AM

That might be because this place seems to be in 24/7 primetime of late.

by Anonymousreply 17August 2, 2023 5:52 AM

Three! Thread closed.

by Anonymousreply 18August 2, 2023 6:05 AM

Yes OP.

Wikipedia say there are 6.5 million views a month.

[quote] DataLounge has approximately 6.5 million page views each month, according to its webmaster (as of June 2006).[1] Mediapolis, a New York City interactive media company, created the site in May 1995.

So there are lurkers who don't post. But millions are reading my posts!

by Anonymousreply 20August 2, 2023 8:49 AM

Are those current figures, R20? That citation says 2006.

by Anonymousreply 21August 2, 2023 8:58 AM

A page view is when you click on a thread and then after go back to the main thread list page and then click into another thread. That's 3 page views.

by Anonymousreply 22August 2, 2023 10:10 AM

Does that mean we ALL get into heaven?

by Anonymousreply 23August 2, 2023 10:18 AM

Fuck no R23! We're ALL going to hell where we will wear caftans and crocs and drain pasta for eternity. All of us.

by Anonymousreply 24August 2, 2023 10:25 AM

30, and only 4 posting or answering threads.

by Anonymousreply 25August 2, 2023 10:51 AM

[quote] Are those current figures, [R20]? That citation says 2006.

Gee, R21, is it still 2006 where you are?

by Anonymousreply 26August 2, 2023 11:41 AM

Luckily they can all fit in my ballroom!

by Anonymousreply 27August 2, 2023 11:48 AM

Kevin Sessums is here?

r20 We were at 1.2 million page views in June according to this and that's a 25% increase in page views from May which I'm assuming is dropping primetime related.

300 posters are driving millions of views? We should get paid and not Muriel. I’ve seen things suggested here that have ended up on TV. PAY MY ROYALTIES!!!

by Anonymousreply 31August 2, 2023 3:48 PM

Me too r31. My real life anecdotes I’ve shared here ended up on Modern Family and in the movie Bridesmaids as well as a few others I can’t remember.

by Anonymousreply 32August 2, 2023 3:51 PM

Which anecdotes R32?

by Anonymousreply 33August 2, 2023 3:54 PM

R32 Yes, there's zero chance your anecdotes might have occurred in the lives of others as well. No such thing as coincidence!

by Anonymousreply 34August 2, 2023 4:40 PM

Which anecdotes R32?

by Anonymousreply 35August 2, 2023 4:49 PM

Three may be only 300 discrete accounts posting on any given day, give or take. But there are 1000s viewing, the board is public and isn't password protected.

by Anonymousreply 36August 2, 2023 4:50 PM

Three = there ^^

by Anonymousreply 37August 2, 2023 4:51 PM

Why would DL restrict the # of posters. If anything we need more content. I try but I'm just a podunk poster.

by Anonymousreply 38August 2, 2023 5:03 PM

Accordingly RealJock must think it’s as dollars are extremely well spent!

by Anonymousreply 39August 2, 2023 5:04 PM

Those thousands of views could be 300 people accessing the site multiple times not thousands of individual views.

by Anonymousreply 40August 2, 2023 5:07 PM

Primetime was dropped for a couple of weeks in June, but it's been back full time since. WTF is it always primetime here? Whatever happened to just making "primetime", you know, during PRIMETIME?

by Anonymousreply 41August 2, 2023 5:51 PM

Where did you read this OP?

by Anonymousreply 42August 2, 2023 6:47 PM

From the free version of semrush . com, 76% of visitors are from U.S., 5.5% UK, ans 5.4% Canada. Average visit duration in June was about 20 minutes. I can't see in the free version how many actual discrete users/visitors, however.

by Anonymousreply 43August 2, 2023 7:14 PM

300 but they can pass for 250

by Anonymousreply 44August 2, 2023 7:17 PM

[quote] the board is public and isn't password protected.

The thing is it kind of isn't. Every time I'm auto logged out I get reminded of how shit this site actually is if you don't have an account Links don't show up on the recent posts page, and on actual thread give no indication of what site they're about to send you to, quotes don't display properly, neither do replies for some reason, there are no images displayed whatsoever other than two ads for real jock that are so old the models probably died in a motel shooting about 2011. Yet apparently 1000s of people a month are visiting this site repeatedly to see a page that looks like this.
