Elon Musk Says He's Retiring Twitter's Bird Mascot, Renaming Site
Musk unveiled a slick new X logo hours after bidding "adieu" to the bird.
Elon Musk is ready to make Twitter unrecognizable.
On Saturday night, the embattled tech CEO announced his plans to retire the site’s iconic blue bird logo and rebrand the platform under the x.com domain with a new logo.
“And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds” Musk tweeted.
Rolling out the rebrand in real-time, he told followers, “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”

In fairness to her, Kara Swisher respects her. She’s a proven top ad saleswoman.
But since joining Twitter, everything she tweets about the company sounds like it came from a bot. She sounds moronic.
It’s clear Elon is making all the moves and she’s backing him up with her inane tweets. (And he likely doesn’t even give her advance notice about his decisions.) Her tweets are so devoid of plain speak, human emotion and just plain sense that they are a laugh riot.
And… she’s MAGA.

There was some speculation yesterday that he did buy TW to purposely destroy it. I had read way back when he had bought it that the Saudi's didn't like TW because it was too influential. I'm sure Russia thought the same. The Russians and Saudi's seem to be able to control Zuckerberg much easier. Since Musk seems relatively close to Putin and the Prince of SA there is a good chance he was bought to buy TW and destroy it. He hasn't run Tesla into the ground so how can he all of a sudden so stupid and run TW into the ground?

r50 I've seen a few posts on reddit from people who said they worked with him in other companies and it sounds like they were just better at handling him. Standard policy was just when he came up with a bullshit idea say you were working on it long enough until he forgot and lost interest and came up with]h another brain fart then rinse and repeat while people who knew what they were doing got on with keeping the company running. But at Twitter there was no one in pace he trusted enough going in that that cycle could happen, and with the constant firing and focus on immediate profit the situation got worse.
Its Reddit so don't know how true that is. But I've had my fair share of managers like that and he does seem the type going by his constant stupidity with twitter.

YES R52, I agree. I’ve worked around a megalomaniac. I’ve worked around narcissists. I’ve worked around sociopaths. Elon fits the bill. I guarantee everyone walks on eggshells with him, they treat him like a demigod, and NO ONE challenges him, particularly in his inner circle. He rules by intimidation, fear, and yes, stunts too. Take heed! You can learn a lot by observing his style of leadership and comparing him to someone like…..oh, let’s say Tim Cook.
If you want to be a great leader, or fuck, how about just a *decent* leader? Then what you do is take seriously that you want to surround yourself with people who will challenge your way of thinking. You need to have enough confidence in your ability to control and manage a diverse group of personalities. This diverse teamwork model assumes we’re all on the same mission and that we share the same (organizational) values and that the leader possesses strong character, humility, curiosity, an ability to collaborate, knows how to build consensus amongst stakeholders, a strong vision caster, and is much more of a servant leader profile. This man is a shitty leader because he *cannot* handle any difference from his own opinion, and his arrogance has gotten him into trouble multiple times.
Also, what’s up with the weird-ass attitude about procreation? This sick fuck thinks it’s fine to force his way of thinking into others, but doesn’t believe he should have to tolerate YOUR opinion because it doesn’t match his. He is a neo-fascist whore and a failure as a leader. I won’t say his entire career is shit, he has some accomplishments, but they pale in comparison to his failure and I believe that will continue. At the end of the day, he’s so much like his father it’s eerie. He IS his father, that’s his whole problem.

As dumb as this move is in the abstract, it pales in significance compared to Musk’s dumbest move, which was to purchase a company with a $10 billion market valuation for $44 billion. Once he realized that he was unable to wriggle free from the trap that his giant ego had fallen into, he must have known he was fucked no matter what. Twitter had never made money, and will never make money. Meanwhile service on the financing for the purchase is going to cost Musk ~$3-4 billion per year, probably in the form of liquidated Tesla stock (whose shares rise and fall along with Musk’s erratic and incompetent behavior—again, he’s fucked).
So knowing that he’s fucked no matter what, Musk is I think taking a “fuck it, go for broke” approach. It probably won’t work, but that won’t leave him any worse off than his original predicament.

Why is it wherever you go, even on DL there's always one guy defending every retarded business decision this autistic South African diamond heiresses makes? He's never going to love you. You know that right? You don't have to keep pretending he's not made twitter worse in every way since he took over.

Can Elon jump from the tower live on X? Please?
He’s a guy who lives to be an asshole. He’s like, I’ve amassed all this money and power (same thing), and now I’m going to torture everyone… because I can.

Twitter owner Elon Musk said on Monday that tweets are expected to be called “X’s,” becoming one of the latest changes to happen to the social media platform.
Musk responded to a tweet from a user who asked, “So now that Twitter has been rebranded to X, what are tweets called now?”
“x’s,” Musk replied.

I always wanted Twitter to go away. Never thought that someone would do it for me - for the annual GDP of Cameroon. Now, who wants to buy Facebook and rename it to Dfyhjlp?

Twitter and the term “tweets” entered the public lexicon in a big way. There’s no way in hell “X” and “x’s” will.
“Did you see that X somebody just x’ed?”
He really didn’t think this one through, did he?

When he starts to wear his underwear over his clothing and covers his head in a gigantic ball of foil, Musk's fanbois will do the same.

Musk is obsessed with killing the Twitter name, and transforming the platform into a merger of a moneyless marketplace + public square + video content factory — his everything vision for an everything app.
In Musk's random tellings, it will be Twitter + Substack + YouTube + PayPal + Amazon + TikTok + WeChat + Baidu — all rolled into one universe marked by one letter: X.
Walter Isaacson spent almost three years with Musk — sometimes for 12-hour stretches, day after day — for a stunningly detailed book, "Elon Musk," coming Sept. 12.
saacson told Axios that Musk has been plotting the X rebranding for more than nine months — since before signing the paperwork to buy Twitter.

Really? It doesn't seem that well thought out unless he wants a fight with Meta over the X trademark. Looking forward to Meta's response.

The plural of tweet is tweets.
The plural of "ex" is "exes."
"I read 20 different exes about it."
"Those 2023 exes are going to age badly."
"I need to delete some exes now."

[quote]The DeSantis stuff is great, but my favorite pull quote from this morning is about X/Twitter: "A zombie Twitter, known only as X, reluctantly endures. A warped and disfigured platform, X marches on like a White Walker, an ugly shell of its former self under the command of a loathsome leader."

He can call it whatever he wants, but the general public is still going to refer it as Twitter. See: Sears Tower (Willis Tower), Staples Center (Crypto.com Arena).

When you click the Retweet icon, the app still asks you "Retweet?" or "Retweet with Quote?"
Nothing has changed except for the "X" on the desk top.
It's still twitter dot com. If you delete the bookmark and then add it back in, it's still the blue bird.

Elon has created a new tagline for Twitter (X). It appears in the app store under the X logo:
[quote] Blaze Your Glory
Charlie from twitch thinks it sound like a euphemism for masturbation. "Why don't you go upstairs and Blaze your Glory?"
