Grace Slick’s 1984 “Software” Album

Why was this album a failure? It performed so poorly that it didn’t chart on Billboard. The next year she would have major hits with Starship.

Was it the poor single choices? Was it because she was 45?

Jefferson Starship had a big summertime hit with ‘No Way Out’ in 1984. Maybe Tina Turner filled the old diva slot in a more timely fashion than Miss Slick. There were quite a few 1960s comeback acts that bubbled under or misfired in 1983/4.

Oh please, Jefferson Starship became a corporate rock joke in the 80's with songs like "We Built This City". They lost all relevance sometime in the 1970's.
