The perfect comedy. It has something for everyone:
Chevy Chase as a womanizing asshole
Rodney Dangerfield as aggressive and tacky with funny, but brutally honest social commentary
Ted Knight as the high brow, old money mid-Atlantic snob
Bill Murray as the socially challenged obsessive

I liked when Rodney Dangerfield handed out cash (on the golf course) and said: "Keep it fair, keep it fair!"

It is a masterpiece. I took my British relative to see it the first night he was in the US. HE DID NOT CRACK A SINGLE SMILE, the entire movie. The audience and I were dying! After we left, he said it was "amusing". Two months later another relative surprised us, this time from Australia. We took her to see it and she was laughing like the rest of us. We told her about the British relative, and she said, "yup, sounds about right."

I always think of "Meatballs" as a companion piece. Also, "Back to School" came from the same era. Maybe "Stripes," as well. So many good movies from that time period.

Henry Wilcoxon was a British-American thespian who started acting on the British stage after World War I. He appeared in screen classics like Cleopatra, Samson and Deliliah, The Greatest show on Earth, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, and The Ten Commandments,
Yet, his best known role is as Bishop Pickering.

As much I hate to admit it, because I loathe him now, Chevy was sexy as fuck in this movie (especially in the tequila shots scene with Lacey Underall).

"Mom!!! Danny saw me naked!" and "Thanks for nuttin' Danny" (the latter said in an Irish brogue) are still things my family says.
