Now, they're fitting over silverware, bowls and TVs!
Kevin Costner's divorce gets messier by the day!

Not without my bowls!

Divorces are crazy. Many divorce judgments end up specifying division of linen and bric a brac. People get very petty.

What. A. Crap. Storm.
Many long-time married couples (and I think these two were together, at least 5 years before their 18 years marriage) do amicably divorce because, in the natural course of human aging and events, their lives have grown apart.
Yes, a divorce is the death of something. Yes, there's still pain involved. Yet many couples, manage to have a quiet divorce, sort out the division of property and money, the children custody, placement and visitation matters, because it's worth it to spare their children and themselves the hell of what we're seeing now.
Especially wealthy couples.
And I don't hold it against her for wanting, and asking a judge to order, every nickel she can get out of Costner. So would I. So would you.
Something very significant happened between these two.
And yeah, I get it. I find it questionable about her denial, and the purported "Other Man's" denial, of an affair.
Pure speculation on my part, but maybe Costner secretly surveilled the inside his house and it showed that while the kids were out of the house, Mrs. Costner and somebody else were having sex.
Maybe, stupidly, he never got a vasectomy and he created another pregnancy with a young woman.
I just have to think that something happened to such a degree that it is causing them to lose it and not spare their children this humiliating, media war, public divorce.

R3, there's a rumor that he has a much younger girlfriend on the "Yellowstone" set.

Why don't they just go to Walmarts and buy some?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 16, 2023 4:38 PM |
r3, I agree with you. I think he did something damning, because if he had hard evidence of her wrongdoing, he would have used it already against her.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 16, 2023 6:08 PM |
Didn't some masseuse accuse Kevin of sexual harassment almost 20 years ago?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 16, 2023 7:11 PM |
It is/was pretty well known that Kevin C. has a problem keeping his penis out of trouble.
This woman was well aware of what she was getting. Money and reflected fame are powerful motivators.
I think it was her who was fucking the "houseguest" and there's proof. I believe that is why she had to "graciously" accept the 1/2 price child support and is leaving the house. She would have dragged this out forever if she thought she'd win.
They both seem awful and I feel bad for the children.

R10, yes

Kevin just let this Frau have it. She is the mother of your children after all. Be done with her.

The judge ordered that amount. It was half of what she asked for, but way more than the prenup amount.

I hope she gets half of all of Kevin's hair plugs.

I don’t understand why prenups aren’t honored in full. What mitigating factors make them altered?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 16, 2023 11:44 PM |
she isn't ugly but she knew what the fuck she was getting into.
there is no way she didn't know about his cheating. Men like him are never faithful. He was probably cheating on DAY 1 of marriage.

Prenups are contracts. Contracts can be considered "unconscionable" and, therefore, unenforceable. Unconscionable contracts usually happen when there's a huge disparity in bargaining power between the parties to the contract.
The prenup ($1 million + five figures (monthly) in child support) sounds good to most people, but I guess in this case, it's extreme.
I don't know that much about divorces and property settlements, though.

"He was probably cheating on DAY 1 of marriage."
He probably fucked a couple of bridesmaids at the reception, but I betcha he'll try to make out that she was cheating. Because a woman cheating once is worse than a man cheating 10,000 times, at least in some people's minds.

Exactly. It's a huge win for her, because I think it's four times the prenup amount.

Who gets the scented candles?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 17, 2023 1:35 AM |
What R21 said about prenups.
There's a precedent for tossing a prenup in a case just like this one. The wife had nothing when she signed a prenup waiving her rights to spousal support and community property. When they divorced 16 years later he was a high earning attorney and she still had no income and no separate property. The judge threw out the prenup as unconscionable at time of enforcement (the divorce).
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 17, 2023 2:14 AM |
One more thing, child support terms in a prenup are not enforceable and don't belong there in the first place. The amount she's getting now had nothing to do with the prenup.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 17, 2023 2:17 AM |
R26, I was just about to write that. You can't preemptively limit child support in a prenup. The children, who didn't exist at the time the agreement was signed, have a right to a certain level of support under California law.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 17, 2023 2:19 AM |
I thought California was a 50/50 state? That whatever property or wealth amassed during a marriage would be evenly split. I thought I'd read that before.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 17, 2023 2:25 AM |
It is, but that's what pre-nups are supposed to nullify. The wealthy and even not-so-wealthy use them to preserve what they made during marriage. Most of the people who request them are high-earning men who inevitably have wives with much lower or no income.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 18, 2023 1:19 AM |
Costner's away shooting much of the time, isn't he, so the kids mostly live with their mother, right? So by evicting his wife, who does the bulk of the childcare, how has he not effective evicted his own children!
Does he think that the kids are going to want to forget their mother exists and just live with Kevin and his rotating team of nannies or something? No, if he evicts the wife, the kids go with her, and if they go they go thinking that Daddy has thrown them out of their own home. Costner is a fool.

[QUOTE]Divorces are crazy. Many divorce judgments end up specifying division of linen and bric a brac. People get very petty.
Oh, yes. I used to work as a girl Friday in a family law practice in my first year of college. I filed, typed simple forms and cover letters, and answered phones among other tasks. What an eye opener it was to a 19 year old to deal with those folks and read the court documents!
Part of the issue is the nature of the form itself. Some people who had relatively placid divorces took it too literally and called up wondering "do I really have to list all this stuff?" No, just the major stuff that's really important to you. And it was fine.
Others (in the small minority)? Easily replaceable stuff. Among items I saw listed: small kitchen appliances, bath towels, garden tools, non-perishable food items such as canned goods and boxed mixes, and toilet paper. Yes, TP. We got a good laugh out of those and meet the client in person explained it.

This bitch was/is a real time grifter. With all the money she’ll receive and the fact she won’t have to pay a dime of her own money to support her offspring, she’s scratching and clawing at anything she can sell and make money off of. She’s wants desperately to live like a heiress and likely aims to score one of those white trash reality wife shows so many people on DL are addicted to. It wasn’t enough that she was married and lived well. She could have remained the wife of a famous, attractive and rich movie star, and maybe gotten some periodic, discreet dick on the side etc. - Maybe they could have even eventually ended the marriage amicably… but NO. She’s a whore who couldn’t even control her scratchy clit long enough to fuck the tenants and house guests.
I would hope Costner ruins her, but there’s really nothing there to ruin that isn’t already rotted.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 18, 2023 7:11 PM |
I posted this before and will do it again-
I think another reason she wants out now is to put herself on the market for another super-wealthy man while she is still physically attractive.
True, she’s not in her 20s and 30s prime but she has another card to play - her marital provenance.
I think she’s banking on some older mega-wealthy dude to see I it as a feather in his cap to have the same woman that Kevin Costner had.
Yes, as distasteful as that may seem on both parts, that’s another criterion super-wealthy men use in choosing a partner. If she’s the ex of someone famous and popular and now she’s with him, he sees that as a reflection of his own position and status.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 18, 2023 7:41 PM |
Costner is the one who doesn't want to end the marriage amicably, R35, even though his team and undoubtedly advising him to do so! He's the one who's lose more future income by tanking his image than he'd pay out in the divorce, and he's still the ones evicting his wife and kids and attracting bad press.
He's also the one who's never kept his scratchy bits in his pants.

They're squabbling over pots and pans and personal electronics. That's ugly. And, apparently he doesn't want to give them to her which is even funnier.
There's some dirt, somewhere. This should get good.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 18, 2023 7:59 PM |
I finally read the article. It's a hoot. Costner's doing this to needle her. It's going to boomerang on him with the sons.
[QUOTE]They continued that Kevin "complained that reference to 'some pots and pans' was so vague he was unable to consent to their removal. Apparently, Kevin was concerned Christine would take too many pots and pans – a complaint quite trivial given his 2022 income of about $24,000,000 and claimed net worth of about $200,000,000 (which we believe is understated)."
