The Queen of Versailles MUSICAL?

Kristen Chenowith as Jackie. Stephen Schwartz doing the music. This is a prank, right? This can’t be real.

It's for real OP. They are already raising the capital for this mess.

god how tacky, kirsten mus need money to do this drek.

I understand that KC is hugely talented, but for the last few years it has seemed like she’s bounced from one badly fitting project to another. I don’t follow her closely but I get the impression that she’s been unable to follow her original success in Wicked.

I feel sorry for Kristin. She will never have a child. And she is so close to 60 now. Sad. Her overt perkiness has always struck me as strange.

I agree with Lou Grant: I'm not a fan of 'perky'. She and Anna Kendrick wear on me.

I am going to see this in one week. Anyone heard any buzz? It’s also got F. Murray Abraham.

I mostly just want to hear her sing live.

R6, this is basically a work in progress: it premiered two weeks ago with an eye to open on Broadway either next year or in 2026. Haven't heard any buzz yay or nay, but the concept alone will be a challenge.

'The Queen of Versailles' with Kristin Chenowith and F. Murray Abraham is playing its pre-Broadway run in Boston right now at the Colonial Theatre. The show opens on Broadway in the 2025-26 season.

Jackie is a cunt, so is her husband.

by Anonymousreply 12July 30, 2024 9:33 PM

I saw this last night. Anyone interested in my thoughts?

by Anonymousreply 13August 7, 2024 7:12 PM

Yes R13 spill the beans

by Anonymousreply 14August 7, 2024 7:15 PM

Jackie and her family are garbage. They must be sinking alot of money into this shit.

by Anonymousreply 15August 7, 2024 7:16 PM

We need to beg now?

by Anonymousreply 16August 7, 2024 7:19 PM

Ok, so she’s an amazing singer. I’m glad I went to hear her sing. But I didn’t really care for the show. There were no memorable songs, the story is all over the place, I wasn’t really engaged throughout, and Kristen isn’t on stage for a lot of a show that really should be all her. The audience seemed to love it, though. The costumes were fun, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 17August 7, 2024 7:35 PM

That’s pitiful. Strange unhappy couple the Versailles are. It was excruciating to watch them on Flipping Out.

by Anonymousreply 18August 8, 2024 12:55 AM

OMG I was just watching this doc on Hulu today! That broad is thoroughly engaging. I’m all in for this!

by Anonymousreply 19August 8, 2024 1:02 AM

The picture is hysterical. A giant boob resting on a little woman’s shoulder.
