Anyone who has bothered to watch it knows that the correct answer can only be Mary Pickford in "Coquette"....she is awful in that movie in a way that almost defies description.

Pickford is the worst winner in this category...there's really no room for debate if you've seen this turkey, which was hilariously parodied in "Twentieth Century" (1934).
And it's a shame, because Pickford is good in some of her best silent movies, and she'll always be a big deal historically.

McDormand and Chastain give very flawed performances....Gaynor and Yeoh are fine/totally inoffensive.
Mileage on Hepburn in "Lion in Winter" tends to drastically vary...I've read arguments for and against her and tend to always agree with the various pros and cons.

Coquette is a truly dreadful film. Even the fact that it is so static as the actors had to stand close to the immobile microphones which had just been developed, doesn't excuse its awfulness.
