Was she big with the gays in the 80s?
It seems she had every chance to succeed. And yes, I’ve read up on her. She has an amazing voice. I bought some (more expensive than I thought) vinyls of Kim Carnes and she is just an incredible singer.
But she did Diet Coke ads, We are the World, Ken Kraken (the Guy Oseary of his day), some great producers, some great contributors like Lindsey Buckingham. And some songs that should have been massive hits: I’ll Be Here Where the Heart Is, Bon Voyage, Miss You Tonite….
Of course she had Bette Davis Eyes and surprisingly 12 other top 40 hits, 5 of which were in the top 15.
Was it her age? Her videos were on par, too. Two directed by Russell Mulcahy. Stylish. Different.
She was on all the award shows. And she won Grammys and was respected as a hard worker in the music industry.
I saw a show about her house being haunted by ghosts. She lives in Franklin TN in Jimmy Buffet’s old estate. She’s had some work done but looks ok. For a woman in her mid 70s!!
Her music has been covered by Barbra Streisand and Kenny Rogers and Frank Sinatra.
