Cattrall and Samantha are irreplaceable. But that said, I’d be perfectly happy with them promoting Seema to a lead 4th role. She had Samantha energy and attitude but she was unlucky in love and dates, but she was a great character. So she fits the mood and is different enough that it’s not like they just tried to find a Samantha 2.0. (As long as they don’t try to turn her into a Samantha 2.0).

Not sure how I feel about this. I mean, I LOVE the Samantha character and was appalled at what the writers turned her into by the time that second shit show of a movie came around. It was so transparent and cautious.

Isn't the scene a phone call, so Kim and SJP could film each of their parts without ever having shared a moment of time on the same set.

Since they'd be reacting to the other person in conversation, it's be hard for them to switch out dialog, but you never know.

SJP and MPK were probably coerced somehow by HBO. Based on the story, the head of programming is the one who made the overture to Kim.

I doubt we'll ever know what KC was paid. I think KC would want to keep that secret as it's basically "her price." The terms (in particular not seeing the other women at all) reflect on her level of power in these negotiations. Of course it benefits the show and SJP/MPK too, since this is the ultimate "get" and the show floundered through it's first season.

I hope the one scene does some work towards correcting this spiteful damage on the part of SJP and her poisonous handmaiden Michael Patrick King.

I think SJP felt threatened by the popularity of Cattrall/Samantha...and her reaction has totally screwed up the show's legacy, which is null and void at this point.

SJP needed to be more clever about this undermining and keeping Cattrall in her place, but she's a former child actress and not the brightest. And so she miscalculated and now Cattrall hates her openly and we all know about it, and of course this taints the original show.

It doesn't taint the show in the least. I watched the whole series again before AJLT along with the 2 movies.

This show is missing another cast member - The City. How would the Carrie of SATC live in New York in her late 50s? She doesn’t engage with it in a meaningful way. She goes for walks in her 4 inch heels, has the occasional coffee or dinner, went dancing once or twice. Sounds plausible. But where’s the life? People leaving middle age and heading towards the elderly bracket live a city life too so where is it?

The Vogue tribute to 25 years of the show as SJP gushing “Hello You!” ad nauseum but it shows how to showcase diversity while staying true to the tone that made it popular and celebrating New York. It light and silly and doesn’t take itself seriously and is better than anything spewed up in AJLT.

While she shouldn't have been so emphatic about never returning as Samantha as some now see this as backtracking, the woman has the right to change her mind. If the head of HBO calls and asks he what she wants in order to do a mere cameo she would be petty to not at least consider it.

I don’t think so. She said she arrived on set at 12:00 and was done around 4:00. Makeup and Hair trailers aren’t really part of the set. That’s why they come and tell you, “We’re ready for you on set.”
