OH MY GOD!!!

Born in Tennessee into a sharecropping family, she first found prominence as one of the backing singers for her husband's band The Kings of Rhythm.

She won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2021 as a solo artist, having first been inducted alongside Ike in 1991.

What do I have to do with it, have to do with it?

by Anonymousreply 3May 24, 2023 6:54 PM

She is DEAD to me! Are you a newbie, OP?

by Anonymousreply 4May 24, 2023 6:54 PM

Simply The Best

by Anonymousreply 5May 24, 2023 6:55 PM

R4. No, I am not new. However, I prefer to give Tina the respect she deserves--and its not your crass post.

by Anonymousreply 6May 24, 2023 6:56 PM

Tina will never be dead to me.

And Eva Longoria still walks among us.

by Anonymousreply 8May 24, 2023 6:58 PM

OP blew it.

On topic, I can’t believe she’s dead. Did anyone call this?

by Anonymousreply 9May 24, 2023 6:58 PM

So there were blinds about an A List legendary female musician who was very sick and deathbound a few months ago. They said she wouldn’t make it to 2024 alive. Many people said it was Tina who was very sick. I posted it here and was chewed out.

Guess they were right.

by Anonymousreply 10May 24, 2023 6:59 PM

She was a wonderful singer and dancer.

by Anonymousreply 11May 24, 2023 6:59 PM

Awww, Damn IT! Such a bummer. She sold her entire music catalog to BMG in October 2021. Bought a giant $76 Million dollar "Weekend Retreat" in January. She must have known it was all coming to an end.

by Anonymousreply 12May 24, 2023 6:59 PM

R9 yes. I did. And was chewed alive for it.

by Anonymousreply 13May 24, 2023 7:00 PM

We already knew.

I can't believe they paid $76m for a bunch of ugly, dilapidated houses.

Outstanding cheekbones. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 17May 24, 2023 7:06 PM

Susan Dey will surely comment on Tina's passing.

by Anonymousreply 18May 24, 2023 7:07 PM

I hope Ike is rotting in hell for abusing this strong and sexy lady. She did get the last laugh.

by Anonymousreply 19May 24, 2023 7:07 PM

Waiting for Cher to comment.

by Anonymousreply 20May 24, 2023 7:15 PM

What will Buck Fizz say? I never heard of them before a thread a few months ago.

Tina I was one of my fave artists. I’m incredibly sad but knew it was coming.

by Anonymousreply 25May 24, 2023 7:37 PM

I'm sad. I was hoping Cher would go first.

by Anonymousreply 26May 24, 2023 7:40 PM

She must have spent a last few days with quite a view if photo at R15 is true

by Anonymousreply 27May 24, 2023 7:41 PM

has oprah released a statement? maybe she was even by her bedside.

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2023 8:37 PM

who did she leave her estate to? she still has a kid left?

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2023 8:39 PM

Both of her sons died before her. Another struggle she had to live through.

by Anonymousreply 32May 24, 2023 9:12 PM

Doesn't she have two adopted sons?

by Anonymousreply 33May 24, 2023 9:16 PM

Does anyone know anything personal about her? I've read the book The Real T by her former secretary/best friend Eddie Armani, and he paints her as a rather selfish, opportunistic and exploitative individual in her personal life, not to mention a very uncaring, unloving mother.

She had a spectacular voice and was a very hard worker, but it would be interesting to see her through a lens that hadn't been distorted by her status as a former battered wife and the quasi-angelic Mother Courage that was presented to the world in that What's Love Got to Do With It film.

by Anonymousreply 34May 24, 2023 9:21 PM

Christ, could Cher have been any flatter in that performance at R24? I'm surprised Tina didn't beat her.

by Anonymousreply 35May 24, 2023 9:27 PM

Come on, r35, when your're performing with Tina, It's hard to compete.

'I want to be remembered as the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll - a woman who showed it's OK to strive for success on your own terms': Tina Turner's final interview six weeks before she died at her $80M Lake Zurich estate

by Anonymousreply 37May 24, 2023 9:41 PM

Giorgio Armani, with whom she was close friends, said: 'I heard the passing of Tina Turner with sadness and disbelief: with her incredible energy she seemed eternal. Her music certainly is. I will miss a great friend, whom I have also had the pleasure to dress many times. In life, she was like she was on stage - pure energy. I am deeply saddened.'

by Anonymousreply 38May 24, 2023 9:44 PM

In 1969 - a year after trying to kill herself with 50 valium pills - she was awarded her first solo Grammy award for The Hunter.

It wasn't until she split from Ike in the late 70s and overcame bleak career prospects in Las Vegas that she launched a remarkable comeback.

Turner is survived by two adult sons and her husband Erwin Bach. The pair married in 2013 after dating for nearly 30 years.

by Anonymousreply 39May 24, 2023 9:48 PM

R32 they hadn’t been apart of her life for decades
