They have rules, being French, of course, lots of rules. One is that everyone shows their badge or ticket to enter...everyone. Even very famous people, even members of the jury. I'm not saying that's what happened, but even if they recognize you they might ask to see your ticket/invite and after decades of fame, the old, "Don't you know who I am?" can hit the brick wall, especially with the French!
