DL - what are your favourite ice cream flavours?

Ice cream: the eternally childish Peppermint Choc Chip. And Bubblegum.

Sorbet: Rockmelon

Frozen Yoghurt: plain Greek.

by Anonymousreply 66May 22, 2023 7:51 AM

I've never heard of peppermint chocolate chip, only mint chocolate chip.

by Anonymousreply 1May 19, 2023 6:44 PM

WTF is "peppermint chocolate chip?" "Rockmelon?" ¿Que?

"Bubblegum" is not an ice cream flavor. Oh sure they sell it, but they also sell Ranch dressing ice cream now. That's not a flavor people consider "ice cream" either so stop with this "bubblegum" nonsense. You sound like a 3 year-old.

OP, have you heard of chocolate? Some of us aren't quite so try-hard.

by Anonymousreply 2May 19, 2023 7:01 PM

Peppermint stick ice cream with a very good chocolate sauce.

Ok...boring, but vanilla. I like raspberry, blueberry, creme fraiche (fancy vanilla), butter pecan, coffee and chocolate. I buy two flavors in a dish and vanilla is always the base, with one of the other flavors. Milk shakes...vanilla mixed with another favorite.

by Anonymousreply 9May 19, 2023 7:42 PM

Vanilla's not boring. It probably is the best flavor.

by Anonymousreply 10May 19, 2023 7:46 PM

Green tea, banana (with chocolate sauce, also my mother' favorite) and, most of all, homemade vanilla (sometimes with bits of strawberry, blackberry, or peach) I used to be given at family farmers' houses.

Because homemade is the best. They'd make it with cream from their cows, eggs from their chickens and fruit from their gardens and orchards. Like a kid's paradise and we'd all hand-crank it in those tall, old ice cream makers made like barrels.

Vanilla always, huckleberry in Idaho, black raspberry and maple walnut for sentimental reasons and to keep them in circulation.

I can't eat ice cream ☹️. but when I have (and it made me really sick), I like strawberry.

Mint Chocolate Chip Coffee Chip

by Anonymousreply 17May 19, 2023 7:58 PM

Coconut with hot fudge or mint chocolate chip with the same topping

by Anonymousreply 18May 19, 2023 8:13 PM

Anything with coffee. Even as a kid, when we went to Baskin Robbins I headed for the Jamoca Almond Fudge.

by Anonymousreply 19May 19, 2023 8:55 PM

Banana, with no stupid extra shit in it (looking at you Chunky Monkey)

by Anonymousreply 20May 19, 2023 9:22 PM

Ben and Jerry's vegan Cherry Garcia, Tofutti Better Pecan.

Imagine being so bitchy about someone else's choice in ice cream (about 10 responses above). OP, your choices made me think you are an elder who is remembering going to Howard Johnson's; I remember those flavors there especially.

by Anonymousreply 21May 19, 2023 9:26 PM

[quote] Banana, with no stupid extra shit in it (looking at you Chunky Monkey)

Chunky Monkey just has chunks of fudge (chocolate) and walnuts, in addition to the banana. I don't see how unadultered banana is so much better.

by Anonymousreply 22May 19, 2023 9:36 PM

Vanilla, and Salted Caramel.

by Anonymousreply 23May 19, 2023 9:39 PM

ben and jerry's is wayyyy too sweet.

by Anonymousreply 24May 19, 2023 10:08 PM

I did a side-by-side taste (long time ago) of:

Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia

Häagen-Dazs Cherry vanilla

The Ben & Jerry's was sweeter. Häagen Dazs was better but I did miss the dark chocolate chips that the B&J had.

The Holy Trinity: three scoops in one dish: banana, dulce de leche, and mandarin chocolate from Freddo in Buenos Aires.

Pralines and Cream. But Haagen-Dazs stopped making it in America. Lately, I've been liking Jeni's Gooey Butter Cake ice cream.

Among the basics, I like Haagen-Dazs Coffee and Butter Pecan. And Strawberry when I'm not feeling well.

I like Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey. A pint is not hard to eat..lol.

by Anonymousreply 29May 19, 2023 11:02 PM

I love to lap it up

by Anonymousreply 30May 19, 2023 11:04 PM

Chocolate Chip Mint is my favorite. That's what the ice cream was called in my neck of the woods when I was growing up.

by Anonymousreply 31May 19, 2023 11:08 PM

Cincinnati area Graeter's makes an incredible peach ice cream, but it is only available in the summer. I am already looking for it.

Graeter's has a black raspberry chocolate chip ice cream. It is their most well-known flavor. I usually eat up the entire pint in one sitting.

by Anonymousreply 32May 19, 2023 11:09 PM

Winter White Chocolate from Baskin Robbins. Thank GAWD they only have it in December.

by Anonymousreply 33May 19, 2023 11:09 PM

Chocolate Chip - no mint, just vanilla ice cream. It was one of the first 'variation' ice creams and almost impossible to find now that complicated flavors took over.

by Anonymousreply 34May 19, 2023 11:10 PM

Two days ago, I ate a 14-oz. container (used to be a pint) of Häagen-Dazs vanilla Swiss almond. It wasn't as good as I remembered.

I do have a Baskin-Robbins near my house. I don't really like any of their flavors, but the pistachio is pretty good. The weird thing is that I think it's the toasted almonds (rather than pistachios) that make it good.

I love Blue Bell's Peppermint Candy Cane ice cream which is only available at Christmas.

Fiori di Merda

by Anonymousreply 39May 19, 2023 11:24 PM

I join the ranks of Peppermint Candy Crush ice cream November, December and January. I remember going out to fancy restaurants in the 60s and 70s and always enjoyed a scoop in a frilled stainless steel cup for desert. A nostalgic joy.

by Anonymousreply 40May 19, 2023 11:25 PM

Cherry Garcia, but I’m not sure it’s either the flavors or the ingredients that does it for me. There’s something about getting to the next chunk of chocolate or cherry that keeps me digging into it. I almost never buy it because I know I can’t eat a reasonable portion and I don’t even like it that much!

by Anonymousreply 41May 19, 2023 11:26 PM

Who remembers Baskin-Robbins daiquiri ice? It was a light green sherbet or sorbet, very tart and lime-flavored. I liked it, even as a kid.

When I was young, my neighbor's mom took us out for lunch to a fancy restaurant and they served us something like daiquiri ice as a palate cleanser between courses.

by Anonymousreply 42May 19, 2023 11:32 PM

Another fat-typing lover of Ben & Jerry’s “Phish Food.”

by Anonymousreply 43May 19, 2023 11:35 PM

Frenc vanilla. Cinnamon, caramel, basically anything off-white.

by Anonymousreply 44May 19, 2023 11:35 PM

This is the very best chocolate ice cream I have ever had, bar none. When I'm done with a bowl of it, it's so rich, it's all I can do to not lick the bottom of the bowl.

Another vote for French Vanilla. I agree vanilla is the best flavor. If a place can’t do vanilla right, they can’t do anything right.

by Anonymousreply 46May 19, 2023 11:37 PM

I love summer flavors as well: peach, strawberry or mango. Lemon Custard with pie crust bits. They hit the spot at a barbecue.

by Anonymousreply 47May 19, 2023 11:38 PM

Brigham’s Frozen Pudding. Candied fruits in rum-flavored vanilla ice cream. No nuts, just raisins, cherries, pineapple, peaches, etc and rum, rum, rum. Now, thankfully, available for the holidays only.

by Anonymousreply 48May 19, 2023 11:41 PM

Hagen Daz, strawberry.

by Anonymousreply 49May 19, 2023 11:46 PM

[quote] Daiquiri ice fan here, R42

Thanks for bringing back the memory of Brigham's, R48. Always liked going there when I was at university in Boston.

There was also another old-fashioned chain that had racks of "soiled glasses" off to the side. I don't remember the name of it but there was one in Coolidge Corner.

by Anonymousreply 51May 19, 2023 11:53 PM

Peanut Butter and Chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 52May 19, 2023 11:55 PM

R45 Senior Lesbian because of you I ran out and bought the Trinity ice cream which was delicious 😋

I should have paired it with raspberries which I think would complement the bitter sweet chocolate very well.

by Anonymousreply 56May 21, 2023 5:10 PM

My favorite is Coffee ice cream; IMO, Häagen-Dazs does it best.

If it's unavailable, Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia will do.

Earlier today, though, I had a bad experience. I had a container of coffee ice cream bought at Walmart, and when I opened it, I discovered that it had been melted and re-frozen, leaving it sunken and hardened, with a total loss of creamy texture. Some bastard at the store had evidently taken it out of the freezer, changed his mind, and set it down somewhere else in the store, where associates later found it and stuck it back in the freezer for sale. :(

I haven't had a pina colada in decades, but I had a pina colada milkshake for the first time last week, and it was amazing.

Bananas Foster, Coolhaus

by Anonymousreply 59May 22, 2023 5:13 AM

Rum Raisin

by Anonymousreply 60May 22, 2023 5:22 AM

I prefer orange sherbet. So refreshing.

by Anonymousreply 61May 22, 2023 5:23 AM

I don’t discriminate.

by Anonymousreply 62May 22, 2023 5:24 AM

Bourbon.

by Anonymousreply 63May 22, 2023 5:31 AM

Vanilla, green tea.

I like orange sorbet as well.

...and the daiquiri flavoured ice cream or sorbet at Baskin Robbins was great.

by Anonymousreply 64May 22, 2023 5:53 AM

Another vote for chocolate chip mint. Didn't realize it had so many fans.

by Anonymousreply 65May 22, 2023 7:41 AM

Banana, Black cherry, peppermint, whiskey praline, & butter pecan.
