R13 MSNBC has already picked up some CNN talent, since CNN changed hands from AT&T to Discovery last year. Ryan Nobles left CNN to join MSNBC's Capitol Hill correspondent team. Also, Ana Cabrera left CNN at end of last year and just premiered as the 10am weekday anchor for MSNBC. They are both great additions to the MSNBC team, and I bet they sure are glad to be away from CNN after last week's "town hall" shit show.

Yes they could do something like give Donald Trump free rein at a “town hall” filled with Trump supporters. That would totally work! Republicans will most definitely abandon Fox, OAN and Newsmax.

check the detailed numbers, Fox News finished first in prime with 1.44 million viewers, and MSNBC was second overall with 1.084 million viewers. Among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers, CNN climbed to third place, with an average audience of 87,000 viewers. Fox News was first in the key demo with 109,000 viewers, followed by MSNBC (98,000 viewers). Newsmax was fourth with 45,000 viewers...
so Fox news had 1.44 million viewers, but 1.33 million of them are older than 55? And only 98,000 "young" (<54) viewers watched MSNBC, 87,000 for CNN, 45,000 for Newsmax, those numbers are laughable!!!

Outside of Russia, the United States is the most propagandized major country in the world. Canada, the U.K., Australia, of the English speaking world don’t have to put up with anything like these channels pumping out outright lies like Fox News and it’s hard right imitators, and now CNN becoming Fox light. Because money is the king of everything here, and “news” can be classified as entertainment and get away with saying anything they want under the Constitutional right of “free speech”. I’m not saying other countries are perfect, but they don’t have a Fox News and talk radio problem on the scale of the United States. It’s ruined us.

I think that Chris Wallace is different. Somehow, he successfully managed to navigate himself through the FOX miasma and remain under the radar without selling his soul. Therefore, the FOX stench isn't on him too much unlike...
Greta Van Susteren (where is she?)
Trish Regan (I believe that she's now been relegated to Twitter. Her YouTube channel doesn't even have 50K subscribers)
Megyn Kelly (No worries. That MASSIVE payout she got from FOX and then NBC (?) set her up for life!)
Geraldo Rivera (Who is FREAKING OUT on Twitter because it's in the wind that FOX will not use him as much or simply won't renew his agreement)
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 17, 2023 12:14 PM |
Fox News has negotiated such high carriage fees from cable systems that they don't even need advertisers to be profitable. If you pay for cable some of that money goes to FOX for the right to carry their network. Cable systems pay almost everyone to carry their programing but Fox gets the highest rates.

Someone like Tucker Carlson is made to look much more influential than he actually is. People are not gravitating to the right when it comes to voting and the GOP's support is dwindling because people outside of those right-wing "silos" don't buy into their fear-mongering and culture war crap. You're not going to attract moderates and independents by trying to control people's lives.

She's supposed to reach the millennial audience. First of all, she's a young woman; secondly, she fits into the new CNN model. Her being selected as host for the Trump interview was meant to be her introduction to the right-wingers who normally watch Fox and those whom CNN wants to attract. It was not by chance that she was selected to do that gig. The only way to get rid of her is to make sure that no one watches under any circumstance.

Thanks, R98. But if that is true then what are people watching? I didn't know there were loads of people like me who choose and select their own content. Let me be more specific...
I don't have cable. I'm an MSNBC devotee but I'll watch the clips of the programming (without commercials) from a hot upload on YouTube. So what that I see it about an hour or two after its aired. YouTube is free. That's the same with any news item I wish to see. If it's a real important event, most of them are livestreamed and I'll watch that on my laptop--and even then I can look at it later on YouTube. The only television I do pay for is my NetFlix subscription and even with that I'm considering getting rid of it.

[quote]Please have wised up to the fact that most TV news shows are just entertainment in disguise. Very little can be believed
I agree with this. It's the primary reason why I stopped watching CNN altogether. For me it all began during the Clinton/Trump campaign. CNN would have on a panel of "experts" that would debate the issues and talk about the candidates. The Trump people literally lied without impunity and were never challenged. But the Clinton people were incessantly interrupted by the Trump people (that's the Republican strategy) and the moderator (one was Anderson Cooper) would allow this and never control the debate. Then...
Trump was elected and whenever I would listen to CNN (eg the gym, etc) it came across to me that CNN's criticism of him was waaay overboard. Yes, he was/is bad but c'mon now. But the final straw was Chris Cuomo. He would have KellyAnn Conway on his show and they would get into screaming matches. The very first time it happened worked because it appeared to be real and natural. But by the 4th and 5th time this happened (she seemed to be on every week) one just knew that this was just bad reality show writing and only done to get ratings. It was contrived. Given the very serious issues facing the country at the time I was offended that the network only thought in terms and tactics of a "Jerry Springer Show" rather than reporting news. That's when I was done. I did like Brianna Kehler(?) until she started doing that. I could never warm up to Anderson Cooper. I never liked that queen, Don Lemon. I never forgave Jake Tapper for leaving ABCNews. So, there's no reason for me to watch CNN.

I agree that it's stupid to have Chris Wallace interview showbiz people instead of interviewing politicians, which is his strength. But that's why they originally hired him after he left Fox. At the time, he said he was looking forward to getting away from always covering politics. He was going to host a show on their streaming service CNN+ where he'd interview celebrities and other newsmakers. Then when CNN+ went bust shortly after launching, they basically moved that show to regular CNN. Plus, he's 75.
