I think I understand the sudden photo walk with Olivia Jade now, or at least the timing of it. Five days after this the trades (Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Deadline) all ran articles on the same day saying that Superman casting had begun and that he was one of the names "in the mix". So it looks like the photo walk was just a quick way for them to communicate "he is straight" in case anything from recent months worked against keeping him in consideration.

The curious thing is that THR claimed there was interest in him but that he "never submitted himself into the ring", whereas Variety and Deadline (which both posted their articles slightly later in the day) both insisted he was still being considered and never mentioned the idea of him not submitting himself. I don't know if this means he and his team did actually get him to audition but have realised he is unlikely to get the role, so they are trying to make it sound like he was never interested in the first place (the THR article which mentioned this also described him as "sought-after" and mentioned having spoken to "sources", which are both often code for something having come directly from an actor's publicist). Or if he genuinely doesn't want to play the role because he is still hoping for a career as more of a 'serious actor', and must surely be aware that many actors who have played this role in the past have also struggled to get substantial roles in other projects. Whatever the reason, I would be very surprised if was their choice anyway. Gunn said they are looking for a Superman you would want to hug, and for better or worse that is not what people associate with his image.

In other news from the past few days, Saltburn and Priscilla are both rumoured to premiere at the Venice film festival. I don't think it's a contract situation as such, I think she feels like they genuinely are dating (sometimes), but for him it is most likely just about convenience. I think they might be genuinely hooking up on occasions, but that she is only one of a number of men and women with whom he has FWB relationships. It's just that that she is the only one who is amenable enough to doing the photo walks whenever he asks, as well as to stay out of the way when he asks her to do that too, so it's easier for her to take on the role of 'official' girlfriend when that is required.
