Mathew Lawrence Shares #MeToo Story

Says Oscar-winning director wanted him nude and to take Polaroids in order to get part. Who was it?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 292May 12, 2023 11:37 PM

That clicking you hear is 250 DLers simultaneously searching Google to check if Bryan Singer ever won an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 1April 29, 2023 5:59 PM

Taika Waititi?

by Anonymousreply 2April 29, 2023 6:08 PM

Who is this person?

by Anonymousreply 3April 29, 2023 6:12 PM

George Cukor!

by Anonymousreply 4April 29, 2023 6:13 PM

Steven Spielberg?

Robert Zemeckis?

Steven Soderbergh?

by Anonymousreply 5April 29, 2023 6:14 PM

My money is on Damian Chazelle or Tom Hooper. I guess the first move would be to determine who won an Oscar and was attached to a Marvel film. The other winners of the past 20 years or so (Lawrence is 33) don’t seem likely.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 6April 29, 2023 6:14 PM

Interesting thought — while Waititi didn’t win his Oscar for directing; his came from writing. But he is a director so he could be described as an Oscar-winning director.

by Anonymousreply 7April 29, 2023 6:17 PM

Polaroids in the era of Marvel films and, you know, cell phones? Sounds a little suspicious.

by Anonymousreply 11April 29, 2023 6:22 PM

r6 Matthew Lawrence is definitely not 33. You must be thinking of his little brother, Andrew Lawrence, and he's 35.

by Anonymousreply 12April 29, 2023 6:23 PM

I understand why he is hesitant to name a name but change doesn’t happen unless you name and shame.

If he put a name to his claim, it might change for the next guy
Polaroids in the era of Marvel films and, you know, cell phones? Sounds a little suspicious.

True, but Polaroids are popular again now.

by Anonymousreply 14April 29, 2023 6:26 PM

James Mangold was nominated twice but never won.

by Anonymousreply 15April 29, 2023 6:28 PM

On another note, thanks to this thread, I just learned the brothers apparently have a podcast which is where this clip came from.

by Anonymousreply 17April 29, 2023 6:29 PM

Kevin Spacey is an Oscar winning (for acting) director. He directed Albino Alligator in 1996 when Lawrence was 16 and Beyond The Sea in 2004 when Lawrence was 24.

by Anonymousreply 18April 29, 2023 6:29 PM
"True, but Polaroids are popular again now."

They never totally went away. Maybe for a few years in the late 1990s/early 2000s. And there would be no electronic record of a polaroid being taken, and they could be easily traded between the director & whoever else.

by Anonymousreply 19April 29, 2023 6:30 PM

Yes it would probably be Spacey. Good thinking r18.

by Anonymousreply 20April 29, 2023 6:32 PM

R17, I was going to say, I once thought Matthew was the most attractive of the Lawrence brothers, now he looks a little methy.

by Anonymousreply 26April 29, 2023 6:43 PM

How in the Hell could Kevin Spacey get Meth Lawrence a job as “the next Marvel character?”

DL reading comprehension is pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 27April 29, 2023 6:51 PM

Chloe Zhao, Oscar-winning director of "Nomadland" and director of Marvel's "The Eternals"?

by Anonymousreply 28April 29, 2023 7:00 PM

It’s entirely possible that this might be Kevin Spacey during the casting of Superman Returns and Lawrence is just mixing up DC and Marvel.

by Anonymousreply 29April 29, 2023 7:18 PM

I take back my post at R28. I rewatched and Metthew said the director showed up in *his* robe and *he* wanted to take Polaroids of him.

by Anonymousreply 30April 29, 2023 7:25 PM

You’re an idiot, r29.

by Anonymousreply 31April 29, 2023 8:14 PM

Kenneth Branagh.

by Anonymousreply 32April 29, 2023 8:17 PM

I thought of Larry Clark, but he’s not an Oscar winner, just numerous festival awards.

by Anonymousreply 33April 29, 2023 8:21 PM

R10, D’oh!

by Anonymousreply 34April 29, 2023 8:27 PM

A male actor's body is a very important consideration for casting a superhero movie. Lawrence would have been best suited for an X-Men movie, so I'm assuming that's what it was. Maybe X-Men: Days of Future Past or X-Men: Apocalypse.

by Anonymousreply 35April 29, 2023 8:29 PM

Oh, just take your fucking pants off already.

by Anonymousreply 36April 29, 2023 8:29 PM

In the director’s defense, why else would you go into the profession if not to take nude Polaroids of actors?

by Anonymousreply 37April 29, 2023 8:29 PM

You have prude actors who think they are better than others and refuse to cooperate. With female actors, I can understand the intimidation and why it's bad, but with male actors, it's just transactional. It's an offer on the table, take it or leave it: a movie role in exchange for a blow job.

by Anonymousreply 38April 29, 2023 8:38 PM

Joey still thinks he is 16. I bet Joey would have done it. He is thirsty.

by Anonymousreply 39April 29, 2023 8:42 PM

Considering his looks, I assume it was for X-men as cyclops. So did sexy James put out to land the role? Is that why he was killed off minutes into X-men 3 when a new director temporarily took over?

by Anonymousreply 40April 29, 2023 8:43 PM

My god he was pretty in the sitcom all three brothers did together. What happened as that is a hard mid-thirties…

by Anonymousreply 41April 29, 2023 8:47 PM

The posters mistaking him for 30s must be older than him. I think we tend to under-shoot the age of adults when they're younger than us and over-shoot when they're older for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 42April 29, 2023 8:51 PM

Interesting that he's dating Chilli from TLC, who is ten years older than him yet looks younger.
I guess the first move would be to determine who won an Oscar and was attached to a Marvel film. The other winners of the past 20 years or so (Lawrence is 33) don’t seem likely.

Okay, I realize this is a REAL stretch as explanation but I wonder if he just meant Oscar *nominated* and not winning? I notice a lot of times people will tag someone as a past winner (like for example Sigourney Weaver) even though they never actually won but were just nominated. If he misspoke, then that would expand the possibilities as to whom this could be.

by Anonymousreply 47April 29, 2023 9:26 PM

There are Oscar-winning directors who made Marvel films prior to Marvel becoming a juggernaut. That category includes Ang Lee and Guillermo del Toro. But the timelines wouldn't work if the director won prior to the hotel room encounter. Also, he starts to say "producer" at one point and corrects himself. James Schamus ("Hulk") producer would've been my guess for that one but I don't think he's won an Oscar.

Unless he says otherwise in another clip, it could've been a name that was only briefly attached to the development of the project in question.

by Anonymousreply 52April 29, 2023 9:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 53April 29, 2023 9:47 PM

r46 Odd match. But alrighty, then.

by Anonymousreply 54April 29, 2023 9:49 PM

So I guess all the comic book boys did the casting couch thing?

I also think he is conflating DC and Marvel.

There were TONS of rumors about Brandon Routh fucking for the role in Superman Returns. Supposedly he stopped once the camera started rolling and that's why his career flopped.

by Anonymousreply 55April 29, 2023 9:54 PM

R53 Is Branagh into men/boys?

I love the Lawrence Bros' podcast. Matthew is the deep, introspective one, Andy is the grimy/rough trade one who always looks like he just smoked a bowl, and Joey is the eldest, chiseled health-conscious one. They have filthy mouths and, while there's never anything salacious on topic (except for this Me Too revelation), they are fun. They posted this with Chilli a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't stop watching it, lol.

I could see having a few test shots taken if the role was going to involve full frontal nudity. A director needs to know if there are any flaws that will need to be addressed. It doesn’t sound like this was the case here.

by Anonymousreply 111April 30, 2023 3:31 AM

He's right about the general public and entertainment industry being much less willing/interested to hear about male #MeToo incidents like this one.

Agreed R111. And if that needed to be done in order to identify any flaws or issues for the role then it's not done in a hotel room by a director wearing a dressing gown with nobody else there.

This is similar to the crap Harvey Weinstein pulled over and over again.

by Anonymousreply 121April 30, 2023 3:54 PM

The Brandon Routh rumors were completely homophobic, people were surprised by his out of nowhere casting and assumed he had prostituted himself to the gay director. Bryan Singer told the anecdote of his casting, he says he wanted an actor who reminded him of Reeve’s performance, and when he met Routh for dinner Routh accidentally knocked over the table salt when shaking his hand, and became flustered and embarrassed and it made Singer think he could recapture the essence of Reeves’s Clark Kent.

Routh’s subsequent career stalled (he talks about this in the Michael Rosenbaum podcast) because he was expecting to get big offers for starring roles but instead was getting B-movie horror lead offers and he turned them down and then he got nothing and had to rebuild his career from scratch.

I can't imagine what part they wanted him for in anything in the last decade. Only Ant man maybe or Spiderman when he was younger like Tobey Maguires age.

by Anonymousreply 129April 30, 2023 5:39 PM

I call bullshit on this story. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying it doesn't happen to this never-was.

Sounds like someone wanted to see how built he was and how much work needed to be done on his body before shooting started and Matthew embellished to save his failing podcast.

by Anonymousreply 130April 30, 2023 5:47 PM

It might not have been for the main role, perhaps a sidekick whose penis needs to look delectable to the director.

by Anonymousreply 131April 30, 2023 5:48 PM

Yeah they killed off Aaron Taylor Johnson pretty quick.

All we need to do is figure out the time he was let go from management and what films came out the next few years and see what director was the shadiest.

by Anonymousreply 132April 30, 2023 5:50 PM

R130, it's a hell of a lot easier to pull this shit with "never was" actors than with established names

by Anonymousreply 133April 30, 2023 5:51 PM

R127 No, I wouldn't have. He didn't say a director wanted to have sex with him, and asked him to spend the night - he said the director wanted to take photos of him in the nude. He's suggesting it was for nefarious reasons, when it could very well be for professional reasons.

by Anonymousreply 134April 30, 2023 5:55 PM

And it's a hell of a lot easier for never-was actors to embellish this shit because they know it's not going to keep them from getting roles no one wants them for, anyway.

What's next, a homophobic remark and no tip written on one of his shift receipts?

by Anonymousreply 135April 30, 2023 5:56 PM

Meth said he was told he would be the next big Marvel character. 2002’s Spider-Man started that wave, so that wouldn’t be “next;” it was first.

He’s implying it’s the wave of films that started in 2008.

by Anonymousreply 136April 30, 2023 5:58 PM

Then it could only be Taika Waititi. What other Marvel directors won Oscars? Ryan Coogler? Chloe Zhao yeah right. Not them.

by Anonymousreply 143April 30, 2023 6:04 PM

Meth probably thinks he should have been the Winter Soldier if not for some predatory evil Oscar-winning gay director.

by Anonymousreply 144April 30, 2023 6:05 PM

R143, hello!

by Anonymousreply 145April 30, 2023 6:05 PM

No way would he be Thor or Loki.

by Anonymousreply 146April 30, 2023 6:05 PM

He could have had a little bit part as a scientist.

by Anonymousreply 147April 30, 2023 6:06 PM

Who is this person?

by Anonymousreply 148April 30, 2023 6:13 PM

Why would an Oscar-winning director bother with this guy when he could just hire a willing rentboy?

by Anonymousreply 149April 30, 2023 6:15 PM

Kenneth Branagh, directed "Thor." Won Oscar for Best Screenplay for "Belfast."

Joe Johnston, directed "Captain America." Won Oscar for Best Visual Effects for "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Taikia Waititi, directed "Thor: Ragnarok." Won Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "Jojo Rabbit."

But among these three, only Branagh is whom I would consider "prominent."

by Anonymousreply 150April 30, 2023 6:20 PM

Please. If it's any of those three, then Lawrence is absolutely lying. He was well past his freshness date by then. He was in his 30s. You pull this kind of thing on young twinks who don't know any better, not someone who is closing in on middle age and hair plugs.

by Anonymousreply 151April 30, 2023 6:28 PM

R151, my bussy has always been and will continue to be minty fresh, thank you very much.

by Anonymousreply 152April 30, 2023 6:30 PM

Has anybody considered Joe Johnston?. He Directed Captain America ( the first Avenger), previous to that he won Best Visual effects (1981), for Raiders of the Lost Ark. The casting for Captain America would have been about 2008. They saw A LOT of people for that, too.

by Anonymousreply 153April 30, 2023 6:39 PM

R149, why didn't Harvey Weinstein just hire prostitutes?

by Anonymousreply 154April 30, 2023 6:41 PM

R153, see R150.

by Anonymousreply 155April 30, 2023 6:41 PM

It was probably a setup by his agent and this guy is just repeating the description that was provided "Oscar-winning director, Marvel," etc.

Everything at Marvel starts with a meeting with Kevin Feige.

by Anonymousreply 156April 30, 2023 6:42 PM

Matthew Lawrence is unlikely to have a bussy as fresh as yours, R153, because he doesn't stuff canisters of WintOGreen Lifesavers up his ass until his breath is minty, too.

We all appreciate your commitment.

Me, I like my openings to stay natural.

by Anonymousreply 157April 30, 2023 6:43 PM

Cheryl, do you consider natural to smell like a rotting animal?

by Anonymousreply 158April 30, 2023 7:27 PM

R136 Some people have principles. And also some value authenticity. If you want me to fuck for a role just ask. But don’t have me to take pics so you can cherish and jerk off for a lifetime, you vile likely closeted fuck.

It was all a ploy anyway because once was nude the director would have suggested why not let me jerk you off or blow you. His agency is vile too. They didn’t want it to get out to flyover about their nasty homosexual escapades and they figured since he refused he might be sour grapes.

Who was the director? Don’t let him get away with it.

by Anonymousreply 159April 30, 2023 7:33 PM

Is R157 Cheryl Burke?

by Anonymousreply 160April 30, 2023 7:36 PM

r159 r160

by Anonymousreply 161April 30, 2023 7:37 PM

R161 I hope you choke on that cake, cunt.

by Anonymousreply 162April 30, 2023 7:40 PM

Oh FFS he’s obviously implying Bryan Singer in the production of X-Men when Lawrence was 18/19 which is how Bryan Singer likes them. He’s confusing the Oscar angle because The Usual Suspects won the Screenplay Oscar, but that was for Chris Macquarrie, not Singer. But this is how Singer behaved, this was Marvel, and Lawrence at 18 would be the type of young man Singer would predate on.

by Anonymousreply 163April 30, 2023 8:00 PM

r163 has no reading comprehension.

by Anonymousreply 164April 30, 2023 8:08 PM

Duh, it's all about exerting power and dominance.

by Anonymousreply 166April 30, 2023 8:17 PM

R106 and R162, R104 and R161 are Poo Shoes, who trolls this site constantly. She probably can't see her comments because they or other comments on the same login (she has dozens going at a time) are being FFed by other users. And when they are, first they disappear (depending on your flames & freaks filter in settings), then if we're fortunate enough, they get red-tagged. She's trying to figure out which comment(s) are getting flamed, or even if they are hers.

In a similar vein, I noticed that she deleted a bunch of login accounts yesterday. About 15% of my many blocked accounts (most of which are D@vida) disappeared overnight. Half or more of the comments in the Detroit neurosurgeon murder thread are hers, speculating wildly between Adderall doses with vodka chasers. She's doing this a lot now - deleting login accounts after only a few posts in order to stay ahead of the FFs and red lines, between Bellagio toilet scours and fenty hits.

by Anonymousreply 167April 30, 2023 8:37 PM

R167 Don’t ever accuse me of being Poo bitch. I hope that was a mafuckin typo. Yo stankin a delusional ass but you may be in to something in general though.
18/19 which is how Bryan Singer likes them

No. Too old.

by Anonymousreply 169April 30, 2023 9:00 PM

I know a guy who was a Bryan Singer boytoy. He was about 21 when he met Bryan. A twink but not a kid

by Anonymousreply 170April 30, 2023 9:13 PM

Now R168/PS is cosplaying some ghetto type. Nice pandering to racial stereotypes, Poo Shoes. On Reddit, I've read posts where she pretends to be:

An Irish woman who was sexually abused by nuns; a gay Jewish north African proud of his heritage; a 30something fuckboy; a bisexual fentanyl addict who sucks dick for drugs; a Black college student; etc. Making up characters is part of her mental illness. Pity her - after all, she never had any parts in the legitimate theater/cinema.

What I really despise about it all is that she sometimes steals content from people's TikTok and Instagram accounts in order to amplify her deceptions.

P.S. She is also responsible for the periodic schiessesturme of threads about pooping and farting.

by Anonymousreply 172April 30, 2023 9:31 PM

Yeah, I can't tell if Matthew means a marvel type movie.

It's pretty far fetched to think he would be considered for the storing role of an actual Marvel movie. He just isn't the type. Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 173April 30, 2023 9:32 PM

And I see your original comment was not a typo which pains me. You are truly sad lying on people on internet net based on mafuckin assumptions. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 174April 30, 2023 9:33 PM

Gives me Christian Slater Mr. Robot or Joaquin Phoenix vibes. Not superhero energy.

by Anonymousreply 175April 30, 2023 9:33 PM

I heard he would have been offered the lead in " Black Panther."

by Anonymousreply 176April 30, 2023 9:37 PM

Professional, R134? I'm going to repeat what R112 said:
it's not done in a hotel room by a director wearing a dressing gown with nobody else there.

by Anonymousreply 178April 30, 2023 9:54 PM

The director in a hotel meeting his actor in a rob. The director was trying to get laid.

by Anonymousreply 179April 30, 2023 9:57 PM

Rob Lowe, R179.

by Anonymousreply 180April 30, 2023 9:58 PM

Jesus Christ you people have short memories, Marvel did not begin with Disney and Kevin Feige, the first big budget Marvel movie was X-Men in 2000, it was distributed by Fox, and it was directed by Bryan Singer who this is obviously about.

How dense are you people!

by Anonymousreply 181April 30, 2023 10:03 PM

Bryan Singer never won an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 182April 30, 2023 10:05 PM

"very prominent Oscar winning director" usually means a director who won an Oscar for directing. Not for a screenplay (Branagh).

by Anonymousreply 183April 30, 2023 10:11 PM

R181 Maybe just don't watch shitty comic book movies.

by Anonymousreply 184April 30, 2023 10:13 PM

BLADE II (2002) is a Marvel superhero horror film directed by (future Oscar winner) Guillermo del Toro.

by Anonymousreply 185April 30, 2023 10:16 PM

HULK (2003) s a Marvel superhero film directed by future Oscar winner Ang Lee (Life Of Pi).

by Anonymousreply 186April 30, 2023 10:19 PM

R181 But Bryan Singer never won an Oscar and the casting for the first X-Men would have been in 1999, more than 20 yrs ago. Then again that’s when Matt would have been 18 or 19. I’m not saying it wasn’t Singer because I think it was it’s just that the details that Matt delivers allows it to be speculation of others. He should just come and say it. Chili is one lucky gal.

by Anonymousreply 187April 30, 2023 10:20 PM
BLADE II (2002) is a Marvel superhero horror film directed by (future Oscar winner) Guillermo del Toro.

Del Toro has said that once he discovered masturbation everything else in life went out the window. So perhaps he was the one who wanted those Polaroids.

by Anonymousreply 188April 30, 2023 10:25 PM

Well I think Del Toro and Lee are the only actual Oscar winning directors of Marvel-based films that I could find.

by Anonymousreply 189April 30, 2023 10:31 PM

Like I said, he may be mistaking Bryan Singer for winning an Oscar because The Usual Suspects won the Screenplay Oscar. The most obvious answer is usually the right one.

by Anonymousreply 190April 30, 2023 10:37 PM

he should be so lucky! Kenneth Branagh is HOT! I saw him in person and he's very, very good looking!

by Anonymousreply 191April 30, 2023 10:39 PM

Matthew, this is just a cock and of the bull story.

by Anonymousreply 192April 30, 2023 10:43 PM

R188 It wasn’t Del Toro. He would not show up in a robe.

by Anonymousreply 193April 30, 2023 10:48 PM

If it was Singer, and the film was X-Men, or the sequel, then what role did Matthew Lawrence lose out on, and who played it?

by Anonymousreply 194April 30, 2023 10:51 PM

It will be funny if it turns out that the person in question has not won an Oscar, even though so many here took it as gospel.

by Anonymousreply 195April 30, 2023 11:13 PM

Maybe Matthew was the aggressive hussy, stripping off for a demure director.

“Matthew, please put that anaconda away!”

by Anonymousreply 196April 30, 2023 11:19 PM

R195 Well, he's in the business, and he met the guy, so we tend to assume he might know something about what happened to him.

by Anonymousreply 197April 30, 2023 11:20 PM

I think he's messed up on the Oscar part. It's gotta be Singer.

by Anonymousreply 198April 30, 2023 11:45 PM

Someone said Jack Johnston who isn’t married. Is he family? I hate to repeat the accusation if it wasn’t him.

by Anonymousreply 204May 1, 2023 12:18 AM

Was Bryan Singer ever known for taking Polaroids? Wasn't Mathew too old for him at the time? It's funny how much it's like ehat women said about Harvey Weinstein, greeting them is his bathrobe, meetings in his hotel room.

by Anonymousreply 205May 1, 2023 12:30 AM

by Anonymousreply 207May 1, 2023 12:45 AM

R207 Well, he wasn't a director afaik.

by Anonymousreply 208May 1, 2023 12:48 AM

I'm convinced that a sizable percentage of these young stars, male and female, crashing and burning is the result of sexual assault and exploitation by industry bigwigs. And enabling stage parents, the cunts.

by Anonymousreply 209May 1, 2023 1:07 AM

R209 I think so too.

by Anonymousreply 210May 1, 2023 1:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 211May 1, 2023 1:31 AM

It's a DIRECTOR

by Anonymousreply 212May 1, 2023 1:32 AM

How did he know he would get the role? My problem wouldn't be fucking them, it would be empty promises and knowing the fucking would pay off. Better have that valid contract ready to sign before we naked, not contingent upon anything.

But yeah if he was a straight teen, I'm sure that would have been shocking and unwanted.

by Anonymousreply 213May 1, 2023 1:36 AM

R18 Spacey sounds unlikely. He would have added that the other is notorious already or something if it were Spacey, i guess. Also I think that Spacey wouldn't have bothered taking pictures.

by Anonymousreply 214May 1, 2023 1:45 AM

Keep in mind that the majority of Hollywood is full of nothing but sociopathic whores who have very little education and mental illness. They will do and say anything for attention. They’re not normal.
Was Bryan Singer ever known for taking Polaroids?

Before the advent of digital, which, again, would make the year 1999 the perfect time for this story to have happened- Polaroids would have been regularly used at the casting stage. A sleazy director would use the excuse to “take Polaroids” to get an actor or model to remove his clothing in front of him. Actors of course would bring their headshot with them but a casting person would want Polaroids to see what the actor looked like without the benefit of professional lighting hair and makeup.

Another thing to consider is that Matthew Lawrence would have been considered small-time famous by 1999, he had appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire as a child actor and several television series as a teenager, so, um… Singer probably would be familiar with him if he, assuredly, would have kept an eye on teenage heartthrobs through the 1990s. So for those of you saying “Oh, 18/19 is too old for Singer”, you have to realize that Singer may have had an eye on him since Matthew appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire at the age of…. Drumroll… twelve.

by Anonymousreply 217May 1, 2023 1:53 AM

R215 Having more education would certainly help them be less sociopathic and mentally ill.

by Anonymousreply 218May 1, 2023 1:53 AM

R217 spot on. Also Bryan Singer routinely messed with, sought guys in the 18-21 range who still look liked teens. He had a type.

by Anonymousreply 219May 1, 2023 1:58 AM

Bryan Singer doesn't seem to be into boys as young as 12. And we may not even be talking about Bryan Singer anyway. But whoever the director was he had probably seen Boy Meets World when Matthew Lawrence was a young adult.

As for Polaroids, I doubt the director would be the one snapping Polaroids at audtions, nor would he be meeting actors in his bathrobe in hotel rooms. None of this would be standard for an Oscar-winning film director auditioning a well known actor like Lawrence.

by Anonymousreply 220May 1, 2023 2:08 AM

Don't pull this Feldog move, Matthew. Just name the person. Hate all this pussy footing around. But, I suppose this is generating more Google alerts than he's ever had.

by Anonymousreply 221May 1, 2023 2:12 AM

Lawrence mentioned in his clip that this was 20 years ago, so likely not any of the MCU directors. I'm thinking R186 may have pinned the tail on the berobed director, though I suppose it could always have been Singer looking to cast Iceman or Pyro and going older than his usual range out of [italic]Boy Meets World[/italic] nostalgia.

by Anonymousreply 222May 1, 2023 2:17 AM

he names the name, the guy denies it and ML feels worse. This way, maybe the guy will sweat.

by Anonymousreply 223May 1, 2023 2:17 AM

There is the standard audition process done thru casting and then there are instances where a director has an eye on a known actor for a certain role and will just call to meet with the actor. This is can be a very informal process, I remember Will Smith said he was offered Men in Black by Steven Spielberg after being invited to Spielberg’s home and meeting his family.

It is not out of the line to imagine a somewhat known child actor like Matthew Lawrence would have been summoned to a hotel bungalow at the Marmont or Beverly Hills - where a lot of these meetings actually take place, they rent a bungalow - simply expecting to have dinner or an informal meeting in the suite and discuss the role. This would also be pretty common during the casting process to ensure privacy rather than say being spotted having lunch in Spago and having it reported in the gossip columns.

by Anonymousreply 224May 1, 2023 2:19 AM

As for the role, it most likely would have been whatever Shawn Ashmore was eventually cast in, as he is one year older Han Lawrence.

I really do wonder at the stupidly of some Dataloungers. Like, this is basically EXACTLY who it sounds like, everyone knows how BS behaved, and all the clues largely fit, but instead you have some idiots going thru IMDB and saying “Hmmm, I think it might be Ang Lee.”

Neurotypicals should not be allowed to do detective work.

by Anonymousreply 229May 1, 2023 2:32 AM

R235. are you referring to Matthew's accent?

by Anonymousreply 236May 1, 2023 3:58 AM

He looks rough in the Tik Tok vid (almost Munch aka Richard Belzer like in the face) but yes, his speaking voice is pleasant to listen to.

by Anonymousreply 237May 1, 2023 4:04 AM

R236 yes. He doesn’t look rough and certainly not like Munch. I think I know what you mean however He looks like he decided to wash his face and say fuck all the makeup, foundation, concealer they make celebs wear. He also looks to not have any moisturizer on despite not being ashy. But that fresh faced look has a certain look after years of using it. One of my stylist friends tells me don’t ever use makeup consistently if you become famous. It will suck the soul out of your face and become dependent.

by Anonymousreply 238May 1, 2023 4:09 AM

by Anonymousreply 242May 1, 2023 4:20 AM

I thought of Shawn Ashmore, too.

Imagine that homoerotic scene with Iceman as Matt Lawrence and Wolverine/Logan/Hugh in the kitchen with the ice and the beer.

Singer told a story where he met Brandon in a restaurant on Sunset; he says Brandon was there first and he stood up to meet him and Singer recalls Routh going up, up, and up.

(I suppose other actors went ...the other direction.)

Here’s the thing: not everyone is an awards faggot or living IMDB database. Actors do make mistakes about these things. I remember Benedict Cumberbatch, who is universally regarded as a very intelligent person, was promoting The Penguins of Madagascar on Graham Norton and appeared under the impression that Disney had made it (it was Dreamworks, and there is an intense rivalry between the two animation houses so I doubt that went down well.)

It shows a lack of imagination to suppose Bryan Singer is the only director going after young guys in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 265May 2, 2023 1:11 PM

He's making the whole thing up - he was just mad that I asked if he could introduce me to Andy.

by Anonymousreply 266May 2, 2023 1:19 PM

I first read this as "Martin Lawrence shares #metoo story...."

by Anonymousreply 267May 2, 2023 4:16 PM

R266 has won the thread. You may close it now.

by Anonymousreply 268May 2, 2023 4:17 PM

Makes me wonder if the "Brotherly Love" director wanted a demonstration.

by Anonymousreply 269May 2, 2023 10:22 PM

r266 Is Andrew Lawrence widely regarded as the hotter brother?

by Anonymousreply 270May 3, 2023 12:42 AM

R270 He's the youngest, hence Bryan's interest.

by Anonymousreply 271May 3, 2023 12:44 AM

Singer hasn't been an Oscar anything, but the original X-Men movie was back in 2000, when Matthew was 20-ish and still fuckable.
He complains that people aren't interested in men's metoo stories....dude, maybe people would be interested if you actual exposed this predator instead of giving him a pass by refusing to say his name. If women could expose Weinstein, R. Kelly, etc.....what is stopping you from saying this guy's name out loud?

Are you serious? Do you know how long it took and how many women had to speak out before something was done?
I know a guy who was a Bryan Singer boytoy. He was about 21 when he met Bryan. A twink but not a kid

Was it Colto?
I thought of Shawn Ashmore, too.

The Ashmore twins lived with Bryan when they were filming X-Men.

There’s an old blind item that stated that actor Judd Herschel allegedly raped one of the Laboryteaux brothers after inviting him into his dressing room. Got him drunk and sodomized him.

I read it few years ago. Allegedly it happened to the one who doesn’t really act anymore. I get them mixed up. I think it’s the one who starred in the Little House on the Prairie show. I also know some folks here think that Entertainment Lawyer is not reliable.

But why would anyone make it up?

by Anonymousreply 274May 9, 2023 3:15 PM

R274, they were both on Little House.

by Anonymousreply 275May 9, 2023 3:16 PM

One of them worked with Judd on a television show or film project.

by Anonymousreply 276May 9, 2023 3:18 PM

Judd HIRSCH, not HERSCHEL…

by Anonymousreply 277May 9, 2023 3:22 PM

Apparently Matthew appeared with Judd Hirsch in King of the Gypsies (1978), but we was only 11 years old at the time. I don’t see Judd getting an 11-year-old drunk.

by Anonymousreply 278May 9, 2023 3:28 PM

R274, I checked IMDb and it was the KING OF THE GYPSIES. And it was Matthew Layborteaux. He had to be no more than thirteen if this allegation is true. Shit.

by Anonymousreply 279May 9, 2023 3:28 PM

R278 Sometimes, it's very important to relax.

by Anonymousreply 280May 10, 2023 1:06 AM

Hopefully he's better with money than Joey

by Anonymousreply 281May 10, 2023 1:07 AM

Al Hirschfeld sodomized that kid from Little House?

by Anonymousreply 282May 10, 2023 1:40 AM
There were TONS of rumors about Brandon Routh fucking for the role in Superman Returns. Supposedly he stopped once the camera started rolling and that's why his career flopped.

Or he's just not a great actor. Both Brandon and Henry got screwed over by WB. Although Brandon doesn't seem to be a dick and did get a chance to play Superman again.
[R266] Is Andrew Lawrence widely regarded as the hotter brother?

It's been said Andrew looks like a young Jackie Gleason with them bulging eyes.

by Anonymousreply 284May 10, 2023 2:29 AM

Herschel Bernadi sodomized a kid?

by Anonymousreply 285May 10, 2023 2:41 AM

Didn’t Hirsch, Danza and Conway all run a train on Merilu Henner?

by Anonymousreply 286May 10, 2023 2:49 AM
Didn’t Hirsch, Danza and Conway all run a train on Merilu Henner?

It was 7:43pm on October 4, 1978. Judd came first, then Tony and then Jeff. After we showered, we all went out to IHOP at 10:45pm. Tony had steak and eggs, Judd had an omlette, and Jeff did coke in the men's room. I had yogurt.

by Anonymousreply 287May 10, 2023 3:51 AM

Buck never would have raped the Laboryteaux brothers!

by Anonymousreply 288May 10, 2023 4:04 AM

by Anonymousreply 290May 10, 2023 11:10 AM

R287, thanks for the laugh. 😄

by Anonymousreply 291May 11, 2023 11:12 PM

R287 Nice - Henner supposedly has total recall.
