Awesome! Thanks, OP. This is one reboot I’m definitely looking forward to.

by Anonymousreply 3April 24, 2023 1:11 PM

Hopefully they've learned to act by now.

by Anonymousreply 4April 24, 2023 1:38 PM

[quote]Hopefully they've learned to act by now.

LOL!

Aside from Darryl Stephens, I don't think that many of them have really worked (including Polk) or have done anything else that is noteworthy. This reboot will be a Godsend for many of them.

by Anonymousreply 5April 24, 2023 3:04 PM

I wouldn't hold my breath. I seem to remember Jim Fall making this same type of announcement for a sequel to Trick about five or so years ago. Never happened. And those sad West 48th web series people...

by Anonymousreply 6April 24, 2023 3:09 PM

Darryl Stephens is cute. I like him in Zero to I Love You and Circuit. I just hope the series is better than the Jumping the Broom movie.

by Anonymousreply 7April 24, 2023 4:12 PM

Where is Invisible Life? Still waiting for that one...

He already blew 3/4 of the budget on that caftan.

by Anonymousreply 10April 24, 2023 4:52 PM

^Right? What the hell was Polk wearing???

by Anonymousreply 11April 24, 2023 4:53 PM

Will it be with actors this time? ;-)

by Anonymousreply 12April 24, 2023 4:56 PM

^LOL!

C'mon now! Give these Black "actors" their proper due. It was a groundbreaking series that developed a cult following. Also, (and most importantly) they were cheap to hire!

by Anonymousreply 13April 24, 2023 5:03 PM

I watched and wanted to like it, but it was just so poorly written and acted that I couldn't. Didn't bother watching the "movies".

by Anonymousreply 14April 24, 2023 5:47 PM

As I recall, it was a hit for LOGO, so never really understood why they canceled it.

by Anonymousreply 15April 24, 2023 6:06 PM

Clearly it wasn't a big enough one or they wouldn't have.

by Anonymousreply 16April 24, 2023 6:09 PM

[Quote]As I recall, it was a hit for LOGO, so never really understood why they canceled it.

Because it featured gay men being men, not mincing drag queens who are what the public expects of gay men nowadays?

by Anonymousreply 17April 24, 2023 6:12 PM

Logo is not what it was. Even Mike Lindell advertises there now.

by Anonymousreply 18April 24, 2023 6:46 PM

[quote]I watched and wanted to like it, but it was just so poorly written and acted that I couldn't. Didn't bother watching the "movies".

Okay, now... it wasn't the best written material, but it wasn't all that bad either. I think what happened is that there was a lot of jealousy and animosity that came from the Black gay male community. Many just couldn't envision having such a close circle of friends, some intimate relationships, etc. The series was a HIT among women.

by Anonymousreply 19April 24, 2023 6:51 PM

So long as I can see more of him…

Don Lemon is now free to join the cast.

by Anonymousreply 21April 24, 2023 7:26 PM

It’s not going to work.

Just like “Queer as Folk”, it was late night softcore fap content for gay men who still had dial-up or little access to online porn. As a teenager, I didn’t have solid access to full porn in the early 2000s, it was all like 30 second clips you’d have to download. Or there was Kazaa which would take like 4 hours to download a 2 minute clip. It was easier to watch a show like Noah’s Arc or Queer as Folk and beat off to that.

Everyone has porn now. And I’m sure they’ll be a bunch of trans and drag queens and femmes no one wants to watch just like QAF did.

by Anonymousreply 22April 24, 2023 7:48 PM

Terrible acting, terrible scripts. A failed attempt at making the gay African American male version of Sex and the City.

by Anonymousreply 23April 24, 2023 7:52 PM

R17 - Gay BLACK men...

Homophobia in the black community as well as racism does not help either.

by Anonymousreply 24April 24, 2023 8:05 PM

I was not asked to be a part of this series, and I will not stand for it!

by Anonymousreply 25April 24, 2023 8:12 PM

Yes you were, Billy, but then Logo made us write out the Mrs. Roper character and we had to let you go.

by Anonymousreply 26April 24, 2023 8:17 PM

"not mincing drag queens"

They might not have been drag queens, but there was a hell of a lot of mincing going on.

by Anonymousreply 27April 24, 2023 8:46 PM

[quote]The series was a HIT among women.

The late Phoebe Snow was a BIG fan and reached out to the production and requested to be in the movie version. She did appear and was FABULOUS!

by Anonymousreply 28April 24, 2023 9:22 PM

I don't know if it will work now. Darryl Stephens is still one of the most beautiful people I've seen on television. Like a Fulani or Ethiopian.

by Anonymousreply 29April 24, 2023 9:30 PM

And I'd like to see an appearance by Keith Hamilton Hobbs!

He's aged beautifully.

Jealous, jealous. JEALOUS!

by Anonymousreply 32April 24, 2023 9:54 PM

Darryl is going to be 50 next year. Feeling old now?

by Anonymousreply 33April 24, 2023 11:02 PM

I would have thought older.

by Anonymousreply 34April 24, 2023 11:03 PM

Isn’t Darryl the only one of the cast who is out? Christian Vincent had a child with his male partner and still won’t come out as gay.

by Anonymousreply 35April 24, 2023 11:07 PM

I tried to watch the show. I'm one of the "woke" people that believes in things like representation is important. So I thought a show about a group of gay Black men was an excellent idea.

But about five minutes in, I thought "ohhhhh. I think the production budget for this episode was $500." And I bailed.

I thought the comment that it was extremely popular among women was interesting. Anyone know why that is?

by Anonymousreply 36April 24, 2023 11:17 PM

R34 Why? He doesn't look a day over 40.

by Anonymousreply 37April 24, 2023 11:29 PM

R36, maybe the sex scenes with these two?

by Anonymousreply 38April 24, 2023 11:31 PM

Black boring queens

by Anonymousreply 39April 25, 2023 1:03 AM

[quote]I thought the comment that it was extremely popular among women was interesting. Anyone know why that is?

R36, Because many straight women fantasize about gay men the way straight men fantasize about lipstick lesbians. There are so many fraus who write gay male romances, both "regular" and paranormal, probably more than gay men write their own romances.

Okay... I'm just finishing up watching "From Zero To I Love You" (Amazon Prime, FYI) I know, I know, I know... it's from 2019. I'm late. Very late! But I'm really not a television/movie viewer. What an awfully written piece of... mmph! I don't even know what to call it... Such a promising premise that is badly executed. Although, there are more than a few very cute men/guys in the film. I suppose the reason that I'm posting this is because I was surprised that the "whatever you want to call it" was written and directed by Doug Spearman (Chance/Noah's Arc). I thought the majority of the guys who played on Noah's Arc ended their "acting" career with the ending of that show and are now doing this reboot because how else will they be able to afford retirement?

by Anonymousreply 41July 20, 2023 4:26 AM

That one guy has been in a lot like B Positive that sitcom that lasted two seasons.

by Anonymousreply 42July 20, 2023 4:54 AM

Darryl (Zero to I Love You) has not retired. I would love to see him in Invisible Life/Just As I Am (he is still beautiful, but too old now, sigh).

BTW, last month, we watched Proteus (tragic 18th century gay couple) then Zero To I Love You (reincarnation of the above couple - in our mind!). The fantasy made both movies a lot more palpable and endearing!

by Anonymousreply 43July 20, 2023 4:58 AM

I loved Noah's Arc and would love to see it come back either as a new movie or a series reboot. It was a fun show back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 44July 20, 2023 5:06 AM

[quote]BTW, last month, we watched Proteus (tragic 18th century gay couple) then Zero To I Love You (reincarnation of the above couple - in our mind!). The fantasy made both movies a lot more palpable and endearing!

Thanks, R43 for that recommendation. Unfortunately, the Proteus film isn't available now.

I should note that even though I thought that this Zero movie was very badly written I felt quite proud of Doug Spearman. I loved Noah's Arc too R44, and it would make me sad and a bit angry that many of these guys could not make more traction in the movie business from what I know of. Of course, Darryl Stephens seems to have worked regularly since NA ended but the others? Not so much to my knowledge.

So, it made me proud and happy to see that Spearman was able to get something of his produced and raise funding for his project. Anyone know the budget for this Zero film? All I've found is that it was low-budget and had a short shoot schedule. But the film had a number of recognizable actors, and the film had a large crew (IMHO) for something so low budget. If nothing else, the film "looked" good.

by Anonymousreply 45July 20, 2023 10:34 AM

[quote]All I've found is that it was low-budget and had a short shoot schedule.

WOWEE! Low-Budget? This was a NO BUDGET project!!! This appears to have been done with less than $50K! For me this is just another example of how much individuals love their craft and are passionate about getting projects done! I bow to them!!! While I still think that this Zero project was horribly written I have a greater respect for the project. GREAT JOB!

This reminds me of a project by my friend Sebastian La Cause from a few years back. His project was called "Hustling". All the work and dedication everyone put into that project to get it done... AMAZING!

by Anonymousreply 48November 30, 2023 8:29 PM

I wanted to like it.

I did.

But damn, it was AWFUL.

Awful acting. Awful scripts.

We all watched for eye candy. Nothing more.
