Coolio’s Cause Of Death Revealed

Compton-based rapper Coolio died from the effects of fentanyl, his manager Jared Posey confirmed to Deadline Thursday. He also had traces of heroin and methamphetamines in his system.

Coolio died September 28, 2022 in Los Angeles. Posey told TMZ at the time that the rapper was found on the floor of a bathroom at a friend’s home, but an immediate cause of death was not known. He was 59.

The rapper won a Grammy in 1996 for his No. 1 smash “Gangsta’s Paradise” from the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer-starring film Dangerous Minds The title track form the late 1995 album was a rap take on “Pastime Paradise,” a track from Stevie Wonder’s Grammy-winning 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life, and topped the Billboard Hot 100 and other charts around the world, including the UK. It also won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance, scored a pair of MTV Video Music Awards and was parodied by “Weird” Al Yankovic as “Amish Paradise,” which peaked at No, 53 in 1996.

A rapper dying from fentanyl - what are the chances ?

by Anonymousreply 3April 6, 2023 10:55 PM

Aw, man. That sucks. Fentanyl is killing too many good people - Prince, Tom Petty, Coolio, Mac Miller, Michael K. Williams, Shock G, Jay Bennett, Bobby Brown Jr.

It should be banned and manufacture stopped. We have other less powerful painkillers and I don't see why it's necessary. These people didn't expect to die from their recreational or even medicinal drug use.

My 30-year-old neighbor, a sweet young woman, died when whatever she took was laced with fentanyl. I’ve known her since she was a couple of years old. Not in a million years would I have suspected her of street drug use.

R3 you must be a dumb ass cunt. SMH. The comment was so low wit.

I'll always remember him for his appearance on Hot Ones, easily one the most reckless (and hilarious) guest on the show.

He played Ray Charles' nerdy, gift-wrapper nephew (or grandson?) on The Nanny. He also appeared as himself in a later episode, when Maxwell was on Hollywood Squares.

Foolio.

What did Ray Liotta die from? That just popped into my head. I'm quite certain he lead a healthy lifestyle.

Coolio was sadly on that stuff. Heroin was also mentioned. That's all just heartbreaking.

Coolio had a nice face. I'm serious. The hairdo hides it but he had a good strong jawline and high cheekbones.

Fentanyl is UnCoolio.

Or so I thought.

The majority of fentanyl is mass-produced in 𝑴𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐 using chemicals from 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒂 before being pressed into pills or mixed with other counterfeit pills made to look like Xanax, Adderall, or oxycodone. The counterfeit drugs are then sold to unaware buyers.

More information released said the rapper had three bags of drugs and drug parphernalia at the scene where he was found dead. Authorities also collected “a baggy with a brown powdery substance, foil with burn residue, a straw/tube, saline solution, a spoon with residue” as well as over-the-counter CBD products and vitamins.

So sad to be almost 60:and you still can’t get away from drugs

by Anonymousreply 17April 7, 2023 5:59 PM

Did he develop a drug problem as his career declined or something? He did a lot of different stuff (music, acting, cook books) but once you hit your 50’s it’s hard to hang on to an audience.
