Rewatching. I can forgive Richard Harris anything, including those bangs. Was Titian hair in, or is everyone in England blond red headed.? Franco Nero is not imposing at all as Lancelot. He’s weak. Why bother why you have steak at home? (Harris)
Camelot (1967)

I kind of wondered about that, OP. Lancelot was gorgeous, but King Arthur was no slouch either. Richard Harris had a regal air about him.
Being a queen and living in luxury in a time when most people had it rough, what a foolish thing to rock the boat. Sit around wearing crowns and incredible clothes all day and sing to each other.

Franco’s acting was really not great, but he and Vanessa had tons of chemistry

I saw this movie at a revival movie theatre in the 80s. My teenaged self was quite thrilled by Franco Nero and Vanessa Redgrave especially the If Ever I Would Leave You montage. Not just sexy but flat out romantic. The fact that the are married today is quite moving.

Yes, that they finally got married is amazing. You don’t see much of them though.

Nero directed a movie with Kevin Spacey recently. Redgrave was going to be in it but the online backlash caused her to suddenly get sick and drop out. Miss Dunaway replaced her. She's well enough now though to do My Fair Lady in the West End.

There is a long chapter th Josh Logan’s 2nd book - o think “something, something Movie stars and me” Sorry I don’t have my glasses on - his first book was about his stage work and manic depression and this book was all about his Hollywood work. Even if you don’t love his book - he is a fantastic writer and B he has long dishy gossipy chapters on casting and making Picnic, Bus Stop, South Pacific, Sayonara and Camelot. … I haven’t read in years but it used to be a favorite. Right or wrong he talks about how he deliberately didn’t want the movie to look like a frilly Valentine. What worked onstage wouldn’t hzz as be worked on film. It is a fun read.

R6, Julie may have been the superior singer, but Vanessa brought the LUST to the month of May.
You know, that whole “Lusty Month of May” sequence was very emblematic of the ‘60s flower power trend.

I adore the production design and costumes by John Truscott ,whose designs came via the Australian stage production and then London. They look stunning in HD.

Julie declined to do the movie. Was she still pissed at Jack Warner?
