His career isn’t done unless there is proof he did it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 26, 2023 12:26 AM |
I think he’s odd. He was on a talk show and was awkwardly trying to explain why he carries a cup around with him everywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 26, 2023 12:26 AM |
He always looks drunk, did he hit the woman over the head with that little cup he carries around?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 26, 2023 12:29 AM |
I guess Marvel needed an Ezra Miller of their own.

What world do you live in OP? Women are of no value anymore. You can do whatever you want to them. We're marching toward Gilead. That's one of the first steps. He'll be fine...as usual. I mean, it's not like he did something racist or anti-trans. Sexism is celebrated today. He'll probably get an award.

Maybe they can make an OJ award to start handing out for best taking down of a woman by a man. At the current rate they're going, it can be a GLAAD award.

I found him nice enough but the guy did sort of come out of nowhere. I have not seen any of his film appearances but I know who he is, which is interesting. There has not been such a push for a "movie star" since the glory days of the Weinstein Company.
Also you know the woman is white. A black woman would have been reluctant to get the police involved.

Yeah, he sort of did.
I do remember him from Lovecraft Country on HBO (with the late Michael K. Williams) which was okay.
Getting the role of Kang in the Marvel/Disney universe meant that he would not only be booked for the next few years but that he was a sure enough bet to get other roles because of it.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 26, 2023 2:25 AM |
Ok, NOW maybe you woke youngsters will at least understand, if not condone, the headlines about Paula Yates dating a BLACK MAN. Diversity is meaningless, but interracial dating and relationships must be acknowledged. RACE MATTERS PEOPLE! You cannot and should not ignore a person's color.
Also, have you seen Black Twitter tonight? They are outdoing any vintage British headline.

It's why we can't have real female solidarity and liberation, why we're all still stuck in this patriarchal hellscape. Does this mean we can abandon Kang and take the current Marvel cinematic mess in a new direction?

R59 that would be a big shift. They've been building him as the next big bad. If they don't recast I guess they could pivot to Dr. Doom with Fantastic 4 coming out sometime in the next 2 years.

If what they’re saying is true and there’s a history of this behavior, he has likely caused an avalanche of misery for many people. Who will now come out the woodwork for weeks and months to come.
In typical Cluster B fashion, he will turn himself into the victim of “abuse” imminently. It’s hardwired to the disorder.
This will be one of the fastest rise and falls in Hollywood history. And not a tear should be shed.

The women of LSA really don’t like his looks.
Nobody on LSA can say they've caught me in any of these threads lusting after this lightbulb-shaped nose-having man, but this all seems odd. I've heard Jonathan Majors theatre background discussed here in NYC but I've never heard anything about him being a millennial Ike Turner. He was always praised for his acting ability but that's about it.
Wowwww! came on LSA expecting the same ol dry ass threads but this one actually shocked me! did not see this coming though I trust no male celeb at this point and believe they are all capable of craziness. glad I never stanned him. He’s ugly anyway and I didn’t understand the push he was receiving.
strangulation?!?! That is SERIOUS, strangulation often leads to murder in these type of situations. Men who are willing to put their hands around your neck and choke you are willing to go a step further and murder you. this is very serious wowwww

R102, there's no question he was taking stuff to get that body. That's not diet and a good trainer alone. But how likely is it that that led to this behavior. Lots of guys do this unfortunately. I am not sure how strong the medical research is on roid rage. But interesting question IMO.

R139 He and Michael B Jordan came up on stage to present one of the technical awards right after and both of them made a point of giving a shout out to Angela Bassett calling her "auntie." It felt very tone-deaf and unnecessary since none of the other losing nominees have ever required someone to console them on camera so why is Bassett so different?

[QUOTE] The Oscars were this close to becoming the 2nd most ghetto Oscars of all time with this guy there fuming over his "auntie"s loss
Yes but nothing will ever beat last year's overwhelmingly urban-tinged show r140. I still think the Academy this year intentionally snubbed Whoopi and Till because let's face it: last year's ceremony was nearly destroyed by the influence and decision-making of Whoopi and Ava Duvernay. NOBODY wanted to take such dangerous risks this year.
Jonathan Majors is finished in Hollywood.

R163 Whoopi doubling down on her anti-Semitic comments on The View probably didn't help either especially when you had Jamie Lee Curtis publicly state that she was horrified by the blatant anti-Semitism and was holding back tears that these individuals (Kanye, Whoopi, and others of their ilk) had no repercussions.

[quote] You conveniently left out the black producer
It wasn't just that that it was the first time the Oscars had a black producer, Will Packer. It's also that the entire production team was entirely black that year. The Oscars were heavily hyping that up as historic about how it was the first time everyone working on the show was black. So there were two Wills who contributed to the overall tone of the show and that's also why Will Smith felt so emboldened to do what he did.

[quote]What did Emile Hersch do?
He choked a female film executive at a bar during Sundance 2015.
[quote]Ms Bernfeld told police that Mr Hirsch approached her and asked her why she looked "so tough", according to charging documents. He also told the executive she was a "rich kid who should not be at Sundance", the documents said. Mr Hirsch is alleged to have initially grabbed Ms Bernfeld before she pushed him away. The actor was then said to have grabbed her from behind. 'Blacked out' The charging documents said Mr Hirsch put her in a chokehold, pulled her across the table and landed on top of her on the floor, putting his hands around her throat. The alleged victim said she felt as though "the front and back of her throat were touching", adding that she may have temporarily blacked out. Two bystanders apparently pulled Mr Hirsch away. A witness has backed up Ms Bernfeld's version of events, according to court documents. Mr Hirsch told police he did not know the woman but was having an argument with her. He said he had had three or four drinks, and a police officer told prosecutors his balance was impaired and his speech slurred.

They also went to trial where the other guy--who was Parker's co-writer on Birth of a Nation--was convicted and Parker was not. This only came up years later when Birth of a Nation came out and the whole story, including the fact that the woman committed suicide, reemerged. So no, she didn't do anything. Magazine Dreams was already a VERY HARD sell. There were a lot of walkouts at Sundance and the film itself was completely dismissed except for Majors' performance (not sure how that happens). But even it's supporters said the last act was a slog and the film is just the same scene, over and over, with the Majors' character indulging in self-pity, becoming increasingly unstable. Not really a story.
I was surprised they didn't find/cast an actual bodybuilder to do it - it's a helluva a preparation to require of an actor to become competition-ready AND have the stamina and mental acuity to act.
But the Oscar buzz was very premature, dependent on whether they could actually get voters to watch it. It would need a lot of critics and pre-cursor support.

What's with Black men assuming white women are some kind of prize? Do you ever see the types of white women some of these Black men date and marry, many are slovenly and overweight, they aren't very bright, they are ghetto etc. It seems because these women are white they want to be with them. Being white doesn't make a women superior.
My father had a close friend who was Black, they worked together, this man's white wife looked like a man, she was very masculine, but the husband thought he hit the jackpot because some unattractive white woman agreed to marry him. Their kids were cute. Biracial children always seem to be attractive.
This Black man was handsome, funny, intelligent and had a good job, but, for some reason, he settled for an unattractive unaccomplished woman because she was white?! I don't get it. Of course, there might have been other factors. Could be, this man was afraid to be with a strong intelligent accomplished Black woman who had her own career? Who knows. Both these people have passed away, but many were baffled about this odd pairing.

R269- Because many Black men internalize the values of a white, racist society. You'd think a gay man could understand self-hatred.
But even that kind of Black man gets an attractive white woman if he's high status and can get one and that's what Majors did. His GF does not look like a man.

by Anonymous | reply 278 | March 26, 2023 7:33 PM |
Is it too complicated to hold two ideas in your head at the same time?
1. Black men have often been with much less attractive white women, because whiteness has been valued in this society, even by Black people.
2. Jonathan Majors is credibly accused of inexcusable crime that is absolutely not OK, whatever the woman's race is.
There, that's not so hard.

White society does not value fat ugly white women and that's who the majority of black men who end up with white women end up with outside of Hollywood.
by Anonymous | reply 281 | March 26, 2023 7:46 PM |
It values WHITENESS. A high status Black man, in entertainment, sports or business can get an attractive white woman. A not so successful Black man who wants a white woman will settle for a less attractive one and one who would otherwise seem less attractive than many Black women. This is not an obscure dynamic.

r286, I wasn't really speaking on it from a black person's perspective; to America at large he is a darker skinned man.
r269, I think it has more to do with black women than black men. Michael B Jordan's interaction with his high school classmate captured why some black men don't pursue long term relationships with black women or women of color. If a man doesn't feel valued or desired he'll just go elsewhere to get some. I dont think in most cases these guys put white women on pedestal (although Im sure some do).
IMO successful gay black men are the same way, after too many negative experiences with other black males its just natural move on to whatever else is out there.

I think lots of white guys had bad experience with white girls at some point and it didn't turn them off the entire species.
A simpler explanation is that there have been -until recently- more opportunities for Black men to achieve high status than Black women, and thus they have been more able to attract white partners, even good-looking ones. Black women who are very high status or very beautiful could also do this- several examples from entertainment, sports and politics, but less common,.

Perhaps a lot of Black men don't pursue Black women, because Black women are very vocal about always "securing the purse", that's all so many of these Black women talk about. Ever read some of their LSA threads about being supported by "their man"? Even Black women who have good jobs expect their men to cover all their bills.
A lot of these so-called 'modern' Black women think simply because they exist, men should cover all their bills. What are they bringing to the table, sex?
Do you realize how expensive hair weaves and hair pieces are? I'm not being funny. I remember Chris Rock's film about hair, 'Good Hair", he was interviewing some Black women about their hair routines, he asked one woman how much her hair cost for a year, she said, "About $20,000!" These women expect their Black BFs to pay for everything, including their supplemental hair. Un-fucking-real.

R296- Because whiteness is valued in our society and this is internalized on some level by Black people. High status Black women also in many cases have white partners, but there are far fewer of them to begin with and men are less attracted to status in a woman than vice-versa, so it's somewhat less common than the Black male-white female pairing, but still plenty of cases: Diana Ross with some Norwegian shipping mogul Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa Whoopi with several men, inc. two husbands as well as, Ted Danson and Frank Langella Serena Williams with the Reddit founder Alex Ohanian Diahann Carroll with David Frost and Vic Damone Susan Rice with some very tall white dude Kamala Harris with Doug Emhoff Tina Turner and Erwin Bach Halle Berry with Olivier Martinez Pearl Bailey and Louie Bellson Dorothy Dandridge and Otto Preminger Carol Mosely Braun's first husband, Mr. Braun Eartha Kitt and John McDonald, a somewhat random, but tall, handsome white businessman Lena Horne and Lenny Hayton

But he's also a character who is pretty easy to face-change, R368.

R369. At least with Brolin they stuck his face on a giant, purple, CGI muscle blob.
In this case Majors is very much the "face" of Kang in a way Brolin arguably wasn't. Since he's actually playing the character, not playing in a mo-cap suit as a CGI reptile version of the character.

Disney should have judged the book by its cover. It's their own fault. It was terrible casting for the character.

They've had three different Bruce Banners/Hulks, with no obvious problems, along with two War Machines. Two Kangs isn't going to cause any issues. They can even address it in-story if they choose to - another aspect/variant of Kang is taking the lead because whatever.

He should've been cancelled already just for being insufferable. I mean, get a load of this shit.
[quote]In his backpack he has pens, a notebook he writes poetry in, a clown nose, the book he’s reading (James M. Cain’s “The Postman Always Rings Twice”) and a speaker for music. He doesn’t go anywhere without Paulo Coelho’s “Warrior of the Light.”
[quote]“Though I’ve not seen the boogeyman, I know it’s out there,” Majors says, smiling. “And I’ve been around to know it’s comin’. I won’t go down my rabbit hole of death, but it’s comin’. But you outrun it. You just stay out of the frame. I’ll stay out of the frame, make my work.”

The Incredible Hulk
Quicksilver
Wanda’s Accent
Natasha’s hair in Iron Man 2
Continuity isn’t exactly a key ingredient of Marvel films. And sorry, he could be recast with any well-regarded black actor and nobody would care.

R368, Then this fugly mofo is the luckiest guy in movies.

Black Widow changes her hair for obvious spy-y reasons; it's not random.

Oh, so those nappy weaves were deliberate. Good to know.

R373, also Brolin’s issues happened in 2004. He was in Deadpool 14 years later. He was in Guardians of the Galaxy 10 years later. That’s long enough for it not to be fresh in people’s minds.

R297 that was some scary as shit. Especially watching the show during that moment . I hate to say it but yeah, innocent until proven guilty.

I hear he is already setting schedule to start filming and is also in negotiations to appear in Spielbergs latest drama which is still untitled. Good on him. Shameful hos never win.

Didn't this whole business start because he's a ho?

“There’s a particular actor, relatively new on the scene, who Twitter has violently fallen head over heels for who, in actuality, is a vicious, cruel, abusive human being, both professionally and in his personal life, and every new viral thirst tweet about him drives me insane.”

I don't like him. I think he is unattractive and he has a menacing attitude.

Society Theatre co-founder and Broadway actor/director Tim Nicolai noted in a tweet that many actors and artists in the Yale and NYC communities consider Majors “a sociopath and abuser.”
“I'm just gonna say this about Jonathan Majors and be done with it: folks at Yale and the broader NYC community have known about him for years. He's a sociopath and abuser and that is how virtually everyone speaks about him. It's a shame it took this long for him to be reported," Nicolai wrote, according to The Direct.

He looks incredibly violent. Like a mad dog about to go berserk at any instant.
by Anonymous | reply 388 | March 30, 2023 2:26 AM |
If people are willing to write that stuff with his name AND their name attached to it, it's true. They wouldn't risk it otherwise or would have said it anonymously.

We'll see... Lee Daniels was happy to repeat rumors about Sean Penn but he had nothing to back it up...

TMZ: Majors' Attorney Shows Texts From Alleged Victim ... Says Woman Admitted Fault:
by Anonymous | reply 392 | March 30, 2023 5:42 PM |
The texts make him look worse. It all reads like abused victim speak. The only thing the victim admitted is that she did something to make him angry - that's "fault" in an abused person's mindset, but it's not her fault he assaulted her and put her in the hospital. She still loves him, she doesn't want anything bad to happen to him. But the underlining tone of the texts is that he did something.
by Anonymous | reply 393 | March 30, 2023 6:12 PM |
Exactly R393 Majors should fire his lawyer.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | March 30, 2023 6:21 PM |
I read something about the DA having the texts already. And (based on internet speculation, not cold hard facts), the lawyer leaked them as some sort of PR move, thinking the woman's statements would make JM look better or even innocent. Needless to say, if the lawyer is the source of the leak, she's an idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | March 30, 2023 6:24 PM |
Yes they are flailing wildly and should have never released the texts. Obviously everyone will think this is a Stockholm syndrome thing now.
by Anonymous | reply 396 | March 30, 2023 6:27 PM |
I actually assumed he didn't really do anything that bad UNTIL I read those texts. Now? It's clear he's an abuser.
What a stupid move on his lawyer's part.
