I am going to check it out today.
I was watching The Oscars from 1982 on Youtube and learned that this film winning Best Picture was a shocker, but a pleasant surprise for many in the industry.
Most expected Reds to win..

Thanks to you both. After reading the thread linked, I said fuck it and decided to watch Atlantic City instead, another film that I have not seen.
I was 3 when these films were released..
I did see Reds and loved it.
