A lot of films are only great because they represent the era in which they were made perfectly. Which films do you think are only great because they’re time capsules?
What films are only great because they’re time capsules?

I’m not so sure Ghostbusters would be so renowned if it didn’t take place in 1980s New York.

Sunset Boulevard and Auntie Mame. Shows how different the beginning of the 50s was from the later years, same with the 60s, DRAMATICALLY different in just a few years. I can't get Natalie Wood vs Sharon Tate as great examples, but they're not films...but their work shows that statk comparison, ( Splendor vs. Fearless Vamp. Killers, only 5 yrs apart!)

O.M.Gawd the idiocy.
For example R22. Sunset Boulevard is a GREAT FILM. The end.
Its greatness is not dependent on it being "a time capsule."
VERY STUPID CONCEPT.
Carry on, dipshits.

"The Time Capsule"
So dated.

Gone With The Wind. Yeah it had lots of pretty clothes, and terrifying footage from the civil war, and those colourful slaves giving lip to their masters. But it just drags on, and movie studios just weren't that good in the 1860s.

Psycho. A lurid glimpse of 1960, a seedy time between 50s Americana and 60s counterculture. But otherwise of little interest, poorly written, and lousy performances.
