He has always had pronounced acne scars. It's inevitable that as an actor in Hollywood, he's going to have a lot of cosmetic procedures simply to address them.

I also have significant acne scarring and have had many painful laser treatments over the years and got fillers twice because of self-consciousness.

I am hyper aware of skin because of my insecurity and, interestingly to me, Chris Pine's sex appeal was off the charts for me in Star Trek, when the scarring was most apparent because of how it was filmed, and that actually had the effect of making me less self-conscious about my own scarring.

R34 It may be now. I'm not sure. I do know that the best treatment depends on the types of scarring.

I got zapped 10-20 years ago, a total of six times, five non-ablative Fraxel lasers and one ablative that burned my face off.

The last time I did it, the cosmetic surgeon did try to sell me on microneedling as an adjunct.

They are basically two different processes that accomplish something similar: the puncture the skin with long, micro-miniature columns that cause inflammation, and the immune system floods those columns with repair compounds that include collagen. So it stimulates some collagen to refill the sunken areas, which improves acne scars that are not tethered but are just areas where collagen was broken down and so the skin collapsed.

Some acne scars are areas where the collagen collapsed and then fibrous scar tissue grew between the layers of skin and sort of stapled or glued them together. Puncing micro-holes through these types of scars creates limited improvement because the collagen can't flood into the areas that are pinned together. So in order for the laser or needling to work well, a surgeon has to do subcision, which is to slide a needle between the layers of skin and gently (but painfully!) move it around to separate the skin layers. Scar tissue remains, but this gives the collagen a chance then to fill in more area and give a better result.

Some acne scars are depressed areas that leave "boxes," and I think these have to be cut out altogether.

There is nothing wrong with aging. It is just sad for some who have accelerated that process with alcohol and other stuff(allegedly). With a clean lifestyle we wouldn't have seen his silver fox look for another decade.

Aging has a lot to do with genetics. No two people age exactly the same. People think you’re supposed to look one way at any given age. That’s so weird.

I had a horrible case of cystic acne all during high school and for many years beyond. Thanks to a fantastic dermatologist friend of my father, I got treatment early which prevented wholesale scarring.

But the constant breakouts scarred me psychologically and I was not at all social in high school. Pine mentioned that he, too, was similarly affected. That made me like him all the more.
