Tasteful Friends: Manhattan loft where Heath Ledger was found dead sells for $14.25M
The Manhattan loft which Heath Ledger was found dead of an 'accidental drug overdose' 15 years ago, has sold for $14.25M according to the NYT. While Ledger was living in the 4,400 sf penthouse, he was paying around $25,000 per month for rent. Once news borke that he had died in the apartment, a vigil was held outside the building by fans who went to his residence.
The building was converted to condos not too long after his death. In 2021, a triplex penthouse sold for a record-breaking price of $49M. The Ledger penthouse has an open-floor plan, and was sold fully furnished for a quarter of the price of the triplex.

Was Heath gaying it up at that loft? Or was he exclusively banging one of the midget/anorexic Olsen sisters?

For a Manhattan loft apartment / condo, I think it's rather nice. And I'm not a big fan of "lofts", since no one seems to know how to decorate it in a 'comfortable, welcoming, homey' style. All the ones I've been to are rather sterile looking and unwelcoming.

Was this ever a beautiful home once or has it been converted from a warehouse? There are some very beautiful cast iron pillars, the windows and exterior are beautiful, and the bathroom isnt bad, they are about the only things I'd keep. Not too sure what I'd do with the ceilings, what's there is ugly. The lights and furniture can all go, I wouldnt be doing a gut reno but not far off it.

R6 I don't know if it was a warehouse, the building looks to narrow from the outside. It could have been possibly an office building at one time (such as a bank building, which were built tall and narrow back in the day).

We’re there ever coroner or police photos of the scene either while the. Sky was there or just after? I’m wondering if it’s known where he died. A Heath Ledger seance could be kinda fun

R8 I think TMZ had the footage at the time. They were first to break the story on the cold, winter night.

He was dating Australian model Gemma Ward but said to be also seeing Mary-Kate Trollsen. Helena Christensen was in a cab on the way to his place when she heard the news of his death on the radio. Trollsen likely supplied him with some of the meds he was on (he had quite a few from three different doctors but some of the meds in his system were not prescribed by any of his doctors) and it's been mentioned here that the rship with Helena was probably based around drugs.
It's creepy the way his housekeeper and masseuse called Trollsen's bodyguard first instead of 911. No big deal to Trollsen: she was seen partying the following night.

There was a furniture store next door to that building that I sold lighting to. When I went for a sales visit, they told me that creepy fan boys would come in all glassy eyed and ask in a whisper, “Did Heath ever come in here to shop? Did he sit on this couch?” and proceed to sit down. They had to call the cops to get them to leave.
